Background: The rapid growth of aesthetic medicine has led to an increased demand for non-surgical cosmetic procedures in the frontal region of the face. However, alongside this rise in popularity, there is a growing awareness of the potential complications associated with these procedures especially connected with fillers. The intricate vascular anatomy of the forehead, specifically the supratrochlear (STA) and supraorbital (SOA) arteries, poses significant risks if not thoroughly understood.

Nowadays, consent to use donor bodies for medical education and research is obtained from the body donors and their families before the donation. Recently, the International Federation of Associations of Anatomists (IFAA) published guidelines that could restrict the appearance of cadaveric images in commercial anatomical resources such as textbooks and other educational products. These guidelines state that the donor must expressly consent to using such images for this purpose.

Background: Despite accumulating evidence and recommendations for management of colonic diverticular bleeding (CDB), the changes in its clinical management and outcomes remain unknown.
Methods: We performed a retrospective tendency analysis on a biennial basis, a propensity score-matched cohort study between the first and latter half groups, and mediation analyses to compare the diagnostic and treatment methods between January 2010 and December 2019 (CODE BLUE-J Study).
Results: A total of 6575 patients with CDB were included.

Purpose: The stellate ganglion (SG), or cervicothoracic ganglion, is usually located anterior to the neck of the first rib. Various techniques, such as ultrasonographic imaging and fluoroscopic approaches, are used to assist in the anesthetic blockade of the SG. However, there are reported complications associated with SG block; some patients had medication-related or systemic side effects, and some had procedure-related or local side effects.

The material concept of resin cements capable of disintegrating due to near-infrared (NIR) radiation was verified. The cements were prepared by adding silicon carbide (SiC), which heats upon absorbing NIR rays, and thermally expandable particles (TEPs) to 4-META/MMA-TBB resin cement. The microtensile bond strength (µTBS) and cytocompatibility of the cements were evaluated.

Background: A serum biomarker for diagnosing ulcerative colitis (UC) remains to be established. Although we recently reported an anti-integrin αvβ6 antibody (V6 Ab) for diagnosing UC with high sensitivity and specificity, no large-scale validation study exists. This study aimed to validate the diagnostic value of V6 Ab for UC using a nationwide multicenter cohort study.

Background And Hypothesis: Lower potassium intake is associated with a higher risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the general population. However, there are no stated recommendations on potassium intake in the CKD population owing to limited evidence of benefits from potassium intake and concerns about the risk of hyperkalaemia. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between potassium intake and CKD progression.

Background: The involvement of Mediterranean fever (MEFV) gene mutations in patients with inflammatory bowel disease unclassified (IBDU) remains unclear. This study aimed to determine the clinical characteristics and responsiveness to colchicine in Japanese patients with IBDU carrying MEFV mutations.
Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, we examined MEFV mutations using gene analysis, clinical information, and colchicine responsiveness.

Background And Aims: We sought to validate the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) guidelines for acute lower gastrointestinal bleeding (ALGIB).
Methods: We analyzed 8,956 patients with ALGIB in CODE BLUE-J study and categorized them into four groups based on BSG guidelines. Outcomes included 30-day rebleeding, 30-day mortality, blood transfusion, therapeutic intervention, and severe bleeding.

The identities of unidentified persons are often confirmed by matching dental treatment information. Although treatment restorations consisting of artificial materials can be confirmed visually and/or by X-ray photography, they should be quantitatively analyzed. This study demonstrates that effective atomic number (Z) images can be created using photon-counting computed tomography (PC-CT) and used to identify artificial materials employed in dentistry.

Background/aim: Desmoplastic fibroblastoma, also known as collagenous fibroma, is a rare benign mesenchymal neoplasm that primarily arises in the subcutaneous tissue of upper extremities and limb girdles. The knee is an uncommon location for desmoplastic fibroblastoma. Recent studies have demonstrated the presence of immunoreactivity for FOS like 1 (FOSL1) and rearrangements of FOSL1.

This study included patients with PV (n = 31) or ET (n = 141) aged 20 to 39 years at the initial visit. Hemorrhage-free survival (HFS) was better in AYA ET than in non-AYA ET (5-year HFS: 100% vs.

Translocator protein (TSPO) is a mitochondrial outer membrane protein expressed on a variety of immune cells, including macrophages, dendritic cells, and T cells, in addition to neurons and steroid-producing cells. Previous studies of TSPO ligands have suggested that TSPO is involved in multiple cellular functions, including steroidogenesis, immunomodulation, and cell proliferation. Currently, there are limited reports on the effects of TSPO or TSPO ligands on T cell-mediated immune responses.

The treatment of damaged enamel surfaces involves modification of the enamel surface with artificial materials or the development of a pseudo-enamel, with research focusing on bioactive and biomimetic materials. In this study, a bioactive auto-polymerizing resin (APR) was developed by adding surface-pre-reacted glass ionomer (S-PRG) fillers of different quantities to APR. Its bioactive effects were evaluated via pH neutralization, ion release, and inhibition of enamel demineralization studies.

Purpose: Newborn screening using dried blood spot (DBS) samples for the targeted measurement of metabolites and nucleic acids has made a substantial contribution to public healthcare by facilitating the detection of neonates with genetic disorders. Here, we investigated the applicability of non-targeted quantitative proteomics analysis to newborn screening for inborn errors of immunity (IEIs).
Methods: DBS samples from 40 healthy newborns and eight healthy adults were subjected to non-targeted proteomics analysis using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry after removal of the hydrophilic fraction.

It is essential to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying liver transplant tolerance and rejection. In cases of mouse liver transplantation between inbred strains, immunological rejection of the allograft is reduced with spontaneous apoptosis without immunosuppressive drugs, which differs from the actual clinical result. This may be because inbred strains are genetically homogeneous and less heterogeneous than others.

Background: Encapsulated peritoneal sclerosis (EPS) is a serious complication in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis (PD). Neutral-pH dialysate is associated with less peritoneal damage and a lower incidence of EPS than conventional PD solution. However, monitoring for peritoneal damage and predicting EPS remain important during PD therapy.
