Aim: This multicenter retrospective study aimed to clarify the surgical and oncological outcomes of patients with high-grade soft tissue sarcoma (STS) who underwent prosthetic replacement reconstruction after lower extremity tumor resection.
Patients And Methods: We retrospectively collected the data of 27 patients with high-grade STS. The mean follow-up duration after prosthetic replacement was 44.

Introduction: TheTADAlafil treatment for Fetuses with early-onset growth Restriction: multicentrer, randomizsed, phase II trial (TADAFER II) study showed the possibility of prolonging the pregnancy period in cases of early-onset fetal growth restriction; however, it was an open-label study. To establish further evidence for the efficacy of tadalafil in this setting, we planned a multicentre, randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial.
Methods And Analysis: This trial will be conducted in 180 fetuses with fetal growth restriction enrolled from medical centres in Japan; their mothers will be randomised into three groups: arm A, receiving two times per day placebo; arm B, receiving one time per day 20 mg tadalafil and one time per day placebo and arm C, receiving 20 mg two times per day tadalafil.

Background: Soft tissue sarcomas are a diverse group of rare malignant tumours, mostly occurring in the lower extremities. Amputations are necessary for achieving local control when the soft tissue sarcomas are too large and/or have neurovascular involvement. Patients who require amputation have a poorer prognosis than those who undergo limb-salvage surgery.

Purpose: We investigated the effect of carbonic anhydrase IX (CA IX) inhibitor under hypoxia and normoxia in SaOS2 human osteosarcoma cell line. We also evaluated the expression of CA IX in 27 patients diagnosed with osteosarcoma.
Materials And Methods: CA IX expression in SaOS2 cells cultured under different oxygen tensions was analyzed by Western blotting.

The presence of systemic inflammation has been reported to be associated with poor prognosis in patients with soft tissue sarcoma (STS). The cytokine interleukin-6 (IL-6) has pleiotropic effects on various cell types in the tumor microenvironment. The aim of the present study was to determine whether serum IL-6 levels could be useful to assume the differentiation of benign soft tissue tumors from STS and to investigate the possible value of IL-6 for survival and oncological events in patients with STS.

Background: There is controversy about the value of clinical breast examination (CBE) in breast cancer screening programs that include mammography.
Methods: In Fukui Prefecture, a screening combining mammography with CBE was employed on 62,447 women from 2004 to 2009. We examined the sensitivity and specificity of mammography alone, and mammography and CBE together for each age group (40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70-79).
