Background: This study aimed to elucidate the current implementation status of medical practices for adult patients with food allergies (FA) in Japan.
Methods: A survey was conducted from October to December 2021 at the allergy specialist training facilities of the Japanese Society of Allergology, examining the status of medical practices for patients with food allergies in 2019.
Results: Of the 819 facilities, 273 (33%) treated childhood or adult patients with FA, 8% did not treat patients with FA, and 59% did not respond to the survey.

Background: Despite the global public health threat posed by carbapenem-resistant Enterobacter spp., clinical and molecular epidemiological studies on international isolates remain scarce. Historically, the taxonomy of Enterobacter has been challenging, limiting our understanding of the clinical characteristics and outcomes of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacter spp.

The growing recognition of the importance of interpregnancy weight management in reducing hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) underscores the importance of effective preventive strategies. However, developing effective systems remains a challenge. We aimed to bridge this gap by constructing a prediction model.

CD5 expression is seen in 5%-10% of de novo diffuse large B-cell lymphomas (DLBCLs). Primary large B-cell lymphoma of the central nervous system (PCNS-LBCL) also exhibits CD5 expression in a minority of cases, however, clinicopathological and molecular features remain largely unclarified. Here we present the clinical, molecular, and pathological features of 11 CD5-positive () PCNS-LBCL cases, occupying 6.

Background: Fractional flow reserve (FFR)-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for chronic coronary syndromes (CCS) improves outcomes compared with angiography-guided PCI, however cardiac events still occur during long-term follow-up of FFR-negative patients. In the PREVENT study preventive PCI reduced cardiac-events in lesions which were FFR-negative (FFR > 0.80) and had intracoronary imaging defined vulnerable plaque.

Background: The expression patterns and functions of Sushi Domain Containing 2 (SUSD2) differ among various malignancies. This research aims to investigate the expression of SUSD2 and the role of the SUSD2 cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) for immunotherapy in gastric cancer.
Methods: The expression of SUSD2 and specific markers (CD4, CD8, PD-1, TIGIT, TIM-3 and CD163) was determined using immunohistochemistry and multiplex immunofluorescence (mIHC) on paraffin sections.

Background: Biomarkers for psychological stress have been examined and the "gut-microbiota-brain axis" is currently attracting attention. An intervention study reported improvements in both the intestinal environment and psychological stress. However, the relationship between psychological stress scores and urinary 5-hydroxytryptamine (u-5-HT), produced by enterochromaffin cells in the intestinal tract, has not yet been investigated over time in healthy subjects under psychological stress.

Measurement of anterior chamber depth (ACD), an important marker for the screening of primary angle-closure glaucoma, requires biometry, which is not readily used. This study assessed the relationship between ACD and health check-up data findings from participants with good corrected visual acuity in Japan. Participants underwent ophthalmic, anthropometric, and hematological assessments.

Although anticholinergic risk scales (ARS) have been developed and validated in various countries, none have been tailored specifically for Japan. The Japanese Anticholinergic Risk Scale (JARS) was developed to adapt the existing ARS frameworks to the Japanese context, considering unique medication profiles and cultural factors.

Introduction: We evaluated the application of a newly improved enzyme immunoassay (EIA) kit, Mumps IgG Seiken®, by comparing antibody responses to different EIA kits, and neutralization tests (NTs), using clinical samples.
Methods: Serum samples were collected before and 4-6 weeks after vaccination from 128 children who had no history of mumps or mumps vaccination. Using three different EIA kits, Mumps IgG Seiken®, a commercial kit from Enzygnost®, and an in-house kit, mumps-specific IgG antibodies were measured.

We investigated the prognostic value of cardiac myosin-binding protein C (cMyC), a novel cardiospecific marker, both independently and in combination with N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), for predicting 6-month all-cause mortality in patients without acute coronary syndrome (ACS) treated at medical (nonsurgical) cardiac intensive care units (CICUs). Admission levels of cMyC, high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT), and NT-proBNP were measured in 1032 consecutive patients (mean age; 70 years) without ACS hospitalized acutely in medical CICUs for the treatment of cardiovascular disease. Serum cMyC was closely correlated with hs-cTnT and moderately with NT-proBNP (r = 0.

Objective: Epilepsy treatment with anti-seizure medications (ASMs) is based on careful assessment of the balance between the likelihood of further seizures and the risk of side effects of treatment. However, there is currently no established biomarker to ascertain seizure control status with ASMs. High-frequency oscillations (HFOs), transient bursts of EEG activity with frequencies beyond 80 Hz, are a new and promising noninvasive epilepsy biomarker.

Objectives: Human T follicular helper (Tfh) cells are classified into three subsets: Tfh1, Tfh2, and Tfh17 cells. Among them,Tfh2 cells are defined as CXCR3-negative and CCR6-negative, and may contain diverse cell populations. We examined whether CCR4 serves as a marker for identifying Tfh2 cells that produce interleukin (IL)-4 and its involvement in IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD).

Severe acute kidney injury (AKI) is a risk factor for the future development of chronic kidney disease (CKD), and macrophages are an essential cell group implicated in injury, repair, and fibrosis during this progress. However, the underlying mechanism of how macrophages participate in the development of the disease is largely unclear. CD11b (Integrin α) is highly expressed in monocytes/macrophages and has been verified to mediate broad functions.

a Gram-negative facultative intracellular bacterium, is the etiological agent of cat-scratch disease and also causes bacillary angiomatosis in immunocompromised individuals. Although the ability to promote vascular endothelial cell proliferation differs among species, variations among strains within remain unclear. angiogenic factor A (BafA) and adhesin A (BadA) have been identified as autotransporters of that are involved in endothelial cell proliferation.

Background: A serum biomarker for diagnosing ulcerative colitis (UC) remains to be established. Although we recently reported an anti-integrin αvβ6 antibody (V6 Ab) for diagnosing UC with high sensitivity and specificity, no large-scale validation study exists. This study aimed to validate the diagnostic value of V6 Ab for UC using a nationwide multicenter cohort study.

Background: Abbreviated antiplatelet therapy (APT) reduces bleeding without increasing ischemic events in largely unselected high bleeding risk (HBR) patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Diabetes mellitus (DM) is associated with higher ischemic risk, and its impact on the safety and effectiveness of abbreviated APT in HBR PCI patients remains unknown.
Objectives: This study sought to investigate the comparative effectiveness of abbreviated (1 month) vs standard (≥3 months) APT in HBR patients with and without DM after biodegradable polymer sirolimus-eluting coronary stent implantation.

Introduction: The bacterium Corynebacterium urealyticum produces urease and can cause encrusted pyelitis, a condition characterized by calcifications of the renal pelvis and ureteral wall, which may obstruct the urinary tract. We describe a case of encrusted pyelitis caused by C. urealyticum in a kidney transplant patient presenting with altered consciousness due to hyperammonemia.
