Obesity has been considered a risk factor for postoperative complications following colorectal cancer surgery. However, the usefulness of a combination of intracorporeal anastomosis and preoperative weight reduction for severely obese patients with colon cancer remains unclear. A 66-year-old man with a body mass index (BMI) of 43 kg/m presented with abdominal pain and iron deficiency anemia.

An Observational Study of Team Management Approach for CapeOX Therapy in Patients with Advanced and Recurrent Colorectal Cancer: SMILE Study (The Study of Metastatic colorectal cancer to investigate the Impact of Learning Effect).

Objectives: In recent years, CapeOX therapy for patients with colorectal cancer is widely used. We previously reported that a multidisciplinary approach decreases the worsening of adverse events and increases patient satisfaction. In this study, we conducted a multicenter, prospective, observational study to evaluate the incidence of adverse events, health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of the patient, and efficacy of a management (intervention) according to the support system (SMILE study).

Repeat hepatectomy with systemic chemotherapy might improve survival of recurrent liver metastasis from colorectal cancer-a retrospective observational study.

Background: Although hepatectomy for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) prolongs survival in up to 40% of people, recurrence rates approach 70%. We used a multidisciplinary approach to treat recurrent liver metastases, including chemotherapy, surgery, and palliative care. On the other hand, development of chemotherapeutic agents is remarkable and improves long-term survival.
