Phenyllactic acid (PhLA), an important natural organic acid, can be used as a biopreservative, monomer of the novel polymeric material poly (phenyllactic acid), and raw material for various medicines. Herein, we achieved a high-level production of PhLA in through the application of metabolic engineering and fermentation optimization strategies. First, the PhLA biosynthetic pathway was established in CGSC4510, and the phenylalanine biosynthetic pathway was disrupted to improve the carbon flux toward PhLA biosynthesis.

This study incorporated carboxylated-cellulose nanocrystal stabilized oregano essential oil (OEO) Pickering emulsion and ZnO nanoparticles (ZNPs) into konjac glucomannan (KGM)/carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) complexes to develop active food packaging films. Carrageenan (CR) is a renewable polysaccharide material for packaging application due to its good film-forming property, but its use can be limited by the water solubility. Novel covalent organic frameworks (COFs) based PAN@TpBD(NH) electrospun composite nanofiber membranes (ECNMs) were fabricated as strong anion exchange sorbent by implementing electrospinning technology. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether dietary nuciferine affects lipid metabolism in broiler chickens. Four treatment groups were made from 120 1-day-old broiler chickens including the base diet group (normal control [NC], supplemented with 0 mg/kg of nuciferine) and groups treated with 25 mg/kg, 100 mg/kg, and 400 mg/kg of dietary nuciferine, which was supplemented for 42 d. The results showed that body weight, average daily weight gain, and absolute and relative fat and liver weight were significantly decreased with nuciferine supplementation.

Lysyl oxidase (LOX) is involved in fibrosis by catalyzing collagen cross-linking. Previous work observed that Triptolide (TPL) alleviated radiation-induced pulmonary fibrosis (RIPF), but it is unknown whether the anti-RIPF effect of TPL is related to LOX. In a mouse model of RIPF, we found that LOX persistently increased in RIPF which was significantly lowered by TPL.

This study reports a surface-enhanced electrochemiluminescence (SEECL) sensor for the ultrasensitive detection of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in human serum.
