Caine-based anesthetics are frequently used in the production and transportation of aquatic products, but residues in fish threaten human health. A rapid, sensitive, and effective method was developed for detecting caine-based anesthetics and their metabolite residues in fish using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry coupled with a modified QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe) method. The sample was extracted with 0.

The widespread use of sub-therapeutic antibiotics may lead to treatment failures, increased resistance to antibiotics, and even the encouragement of the formation of superbugs. Fraudulent herbal medicines that actually contain unlabeled active ingredients are a global problem. Therefore, streamlined and accurate analytical techniques that can identify and quantify a variety of antimicrobials in suspected illegal products are required.

A novel method for the quantitative analysis of 56 per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in human plasma was established on the basis of ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography tandem quadrupole Orbitrap high-resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-Q/Orbitrap HRMS) in combination with accurate customized mass databases and isotopic internal standards. A streamlined, high-throughput, and high-recovery (RE) sample pretreatment method was developed. The method's performance was evaluated in terms of linearity, limit of quantification, RE, repeatability, reproducibility, and matrix effect.

Residues of plant growth regulators (PGRs) in homologous materials of medicine and food threaten public health. This study aimed to develop a rapid, sensitive, and high-throughput method for simultaneously determining 16 PGR residues in homologous materials of medicine and food. Furthermore, the established method was applied to actual samples to assess the potential exposure risk of multi-PGR residues.

Background: Premature infants have less physiologic reserve and often delayed vaccination compared to full-term infants. The birth dose of hepatitis B vaccine (HepB-BD) is an essential measure to achieve the goal of "zero infections" of hepatitis B virus in all newborns. However, there are few investigations of hepatitis B vaccination of preterm infants, leading to uncertainty of coverage and insufficient knowledge of factors influencing timely vaccination of this important population.

Background: Hybrid immunity (a combination of natural and vaccine-induced immunity) provides additional immune protection against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) reinfection. Today, people are commonly infected and vaccinated; hence, hybrid immunity is the norm. However, the mitigation of the risk of Omicron variant reinfection by hybrid immunity and the durability of its protection remain uncertain.

Objective: At different times, public health faces various challenges and the degree of intervention measures varies. The research on the impact and prediction of meteorology factors on influenza is increasing gradually, however, there is currently no evidence on whether its research results are affected by different periods. This study aims to provide limited evidence to reveal this issue.

Background: Screening and treatment of dysglycemia (prediabetes and diabetes) represent significant challenges in advancing the Healthy China initiative. Identifying the crucial factors contributing to dysglycemia in urban-rural areas is essential for the implementation of targeted, precise interventions.
Methods: Data for 26,157 adults in Fujian Province, China, were collected using the Social Factors Special Survey Form through a multi-stage random sampling method, wherein 18 variables contributing to dysglycemia were analyzed with logistic regression and the random forest model.

Background: Long-term exposure to PM is known to increase the risks for diabetes and obesity, but its effects on their coexistence, termed diabesity, remain uncertain. This study aimed to investigate the associations of long-term exposure to PM and its chemical constituents with the risks for diabesity, diabetes, and obesity.
Methods: This cross-sectional study used the baseline data of a multi-center cohort, consisting of three provincially representative cohorts comprising a total of 134,403 participants from the eastern (Fujian Province), central (Hubei Province), and western (Yunnan Province) regions of China.
