Background: Preoperative prediction of lymph node metastasis (LNM) plays a crucial role in the treatment and prognosis of colorectal cancer (CRC). The traditional histopathological examination is invasive and time-consuming, providing pathological features only postoperatively. Preoperative serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is strongly correlated with postoperative LN status.

Background: Cell surface enzymes are important proteins that play essential roles in controlling a wide variety of biological processes, such as cell-cell adhesion, recognition and communication. Dysregulation of enzyme-catalyzed processes is known to contribute to numerous diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases and neurodegenerative disease. From the perspective of drug discovery and development, there is a growing interest in detecting the cell surface enzyme activity, propelled by the arising need for innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to address various health conditions.

Background: Tumor-associated collagen signature (TACS) is an independent prognostic factor for breast cancer. However, it is unclear whether the complete collagen signature, including TACS, the TACS-based collagen microscopic features (TCMF1), and the TACS-based nuclear features (TCMF2), can provide additional prognostic information for the current tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) staging system.
Patients And Methods: We included 941 patients with breast cancer from three cohorts: the training (n = 355), internal (n = 334), and external validation cohorts (n = 252).

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have gained widespread application in the treatment of malignant tumors. Cytokine release syndrome (CRS) is a systemic inflammatory response triggered by various factors, including infections and immunotherapy. We present a case of CRS occurring in a gastric cancer patient after receiving combination therapy of tislelizumab, anlotinib and combination of capecitabine and oxaliplatin.

Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) play a pivotal role in sculpting the tumor microenvironment and influencing cancer progression, particularly through their interactions with various forms of regulated cell death (RCD), including apoptosis, pyroptosis, ferroptosis, and necroptosis. This review examines the interplay between TAMs and these RCD pathways, exploring the mechanisms through which they interact to promote tumor growth and advancement. We examine the underlying mechanisms of these intricate interactions, emphasizing their importance in cancer progression and treatment.

The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a validated therapeutic target for RAS/RAF wild-type colorectal cancer (CRC). However, monoclonal antibody-based anti-EGFR therapies such as cetuximab have limited effectiveness. Herein, it is identified that EGFR internalization is associated with poor treatment response and prognosis in patients with CRC, based on a retrospective analysis of patients treated with cetuximab.

Background: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the real-world efficacy and safety of camrelizumab and identify clinicolaboratory factors that predict treatment outcomes in patients with unresectable advanced, recurrent, or metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) receiving camrelizumab.
Methods: Herein, 174 patients with unresectable advanced, recurrent, or metastatic ESCC treated with camrelizumab monotherapy (n = 30), camrelizumab + chemotherapy (CT; n = 91), and camrelizumab + radiotherapy (RT; n = 53) between October 1, 2019 and October 1, 2022 were included.
Results: The median follow-up time was 20 months (range, 1-34 months).

To assess the cost-effectiveness of treating invasive aspergillosis with isavuconazole, posaconazole and voriconazole in China. A cost-consequence analysis (CCA) was conducted, considering both healthcare system and patient out-of-pocket perspectives. We considered the costs of medications, diagnostics and hospitalization and the consequences of mortality, response rate and adverse events.

Introduction: Kinesin family member 20A (KIF20A) is essential for cell proliferation and is implicated in promoting tumor progression, but its role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains poorly studied.
Methods: Through the analysis of bulk RNA-sequencing (bulk RNA-seq) and single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data, the expression of KIF20A and its relationship with diagnosis, prognosis, and the immune microenvironment were examined. The association between KIF20A and the malignant progression and metastasis of HCC was confirmed through and experiments.

Introduction: The homeostasis of the microbiome in lower respiratory tract is crucial in sustaining normal physiological functions of the lung. Different pulmonary diseases display varying degrees of microbiome imbalance; however, the specific variability and clinical significance of their microbiomes remain largely unexplored.
Methods: In this study, we delineated the pathogen spectrum and commensal microorganisms in the lower respiratory tract of various pulmonary diseases using metagenomic sequencing.

The integration of photoacoustic imaging (PAI) and photothermal therapy (PTT) within the second near-infrared (NIR-II) window, offering a combination of high-resolution imaging and precise non-invasive thermal ablation, presents an attractive opportunity for cancer treatment. Despite the significant promise, the development of this noninvasive phototheranostic nanomedicines encounters challenges that stem from tumor thermotolerance and limited therapeutic efficacy. In this contribution, we designed an amphiphilic semiconducting polymer brush (SPB) featuring a thermosensitive carbon monoxide (CO) donor (TDF-CO) for NIR-II PAI-assisted gas-augmented deep-tissue tumor PTT.

MDM4 is one of the major regulators of p53. The biological effect of MDM4 on tumor is controversial, its role and molecular mechanism in colon cancer progression and prognosis are still unclear. In this study, we identify that MDM4 is significantly overexpressed in human colon cancer and high MDM4 expression was associated with poor prognosis of colon cancer with mutant p53.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable disease characterized by its clinical and prognostic heterogeneity. Despite conventional chemotherapy and autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, the management of relapsed and refractory MM disease poses significant challenges, both medically and socioeconomically. CD38, highly expressed on the surface of MM cells, serves as a distinct tumor biological target in MM.

SNF2L encodes an ISWI chromatin remodeling factor that promotes gene transcription and is consistently elevated in cancers. Previous studies have shown that inhibiting SNF2L expression in cancer cells leads to significant growth suppression, DNA damage, and cell death. However, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood.
