Background: Circulating tumor cell (CTC) counting may be a useful non-invasive biomarker that helps patients choose first-line treatment options. Nevertheless, the cost of CTC inspection may impose an economic burden on patients, necessitating the simultaneous consideration of both its clinical effectiveness and cost. We evaluated the cost-effectiveness of CTC count-guided chemotherapy and endocrine therapy as first-line therapy for HR+/HER2-metastatic breast cancer (MBC) from the perspective of US payers.

Methods: A total of 1,251 patients with gastric cancer (GC) were retrospectively analyzed in Fujian Province Hospital between 2008 and 2020. Patients from the occult peritoneal metastasis (PM) group were initially diagnosed as PM-negative on CT and later confirmed as PM-positive through laparoscopy or surgery.

A solid-state high-resolution esophageal pressure measurement was performed on 41 volunteers without throat symptoms. The Chicago classification data were compared with the manometry results of all volunteers.

Although several studies have revealed that adverse cardiovascular events in diabetic patients are closely associated with severe hypoglycemia (SH), the causal relationship and related mechanisms remain unclear. This study aims to investigate whether SH promotes myocardial injury and further explores the potential mechanisms with focus on disturbances in lipid metabolism. SH promoted myocardial dysfunction and structural disorders in the diabetic mice but not in the controls.

Clinicopathological features and outcome for neuroendocrine neoplasms of gastroesophageal junction: A population-based study.

Background: Gastroesophageal Junction neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEJ-NENs) are rare and heterogeneous tumors. We aim to analyze the clinicopathlogical features and prognostic factors of GEJ-NENs and to compare the outcome of GEJ-NENs with other gastric NENs.

Methods: A total of 297 GEJ-NENs patients were enrolled from 10 Chinese hospitals and 3152 gastric NENs patients, including 274 GEJ-NENs, were retrieved from Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database.

The genetic characteristics of congenital hypothyroidism in China by comprehensive screening of 21 candidate genes.

Objective: Congenital hypothyroidism (CH), the most common neonatal metabolic disorder, is characterized by impaired neurodevelopment. Although several candidate genes have been associated with CH, comprehensive screening of causative genes has been limited.

Prostate cancer treated with reduced-volume intensity-modulated radiation therapy: Report on the 5-year outcome of a prospective series.

How to define a clinical target volume (CTV) as small as possible for prostate cancer to reduce the dose received by normal organs is an interesting study. We conduct a research to analyze the clinical efficacy of intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) using reduced CTV in the treatment of prostate cancer. From January 2006 to June 2010, 78 patients with prostate cancer were treated with IMRT according to this institutional protocol.

Methods: This study was a multicenter, 1-day, cross-sectional study in 47 Intensive Care Units (ICUs) across China.

Long-term cancer-related fatigue outcomes in patients with locally advanced prostate cancer after intensity-modulated radiotherapy combined with hormonal therapy.

The aim of our study was to investigate the relationship between cancer-related fatigue and clinical parameters, and the effect factors of fatigue for the prostate cancer patients. Long-term follow-up is performed using the Fatigue Symptom Inventory before treatment (A), at the end of intensity-modulated radiotherapy (B), and 3 months (C), 12 months (D), 24 months (E), 36 months (F), and 48 months (G) after the end of intensity-modulated radiotherapy. Three dimensions of fatigue are assessed during follow-up: severity, perceived interference with quality of life, and duration in the past week.

Effectiveness of Chinese Hand Massage on Anxiety Among Patients Awaiting Coronary Angiography: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Background: Anxiety is the most common negative emotion among the patients awaiting coronary angiography. The increased anxiety may exacerbate coronary heart disease symptoms and possibly contribute to complications during the procedure. Chinese hand massage is a nonpharmaceutical intervention that has been used in several clinical situations in China and might have beneficial effects on reducing anxiety before coronary angiography.

Tight junction disruption of blood-brain barrier in white matter lesions in chronic hypertensive rats.

Tight junctions (TJs) are the most important structure of the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Studies have shown that triggering of white matter lesions (WMLs) may be related to a BBB dysfunction, but rarely have studies observed the progressive changes in TJs longitudinally. In our present study, the ultrastructure of TJs was observed using a transmission electron microscope in Stroke-prone Renalvascular Hypertensive Rats.

Effects of earplugs and eye masks combined with relaxing music on sleep, melatonin and cortisol levels in ICU patients: a randomized controlled trial.

Introduction: Intensive care unit (ICU) environmental factors such as noise and light have been cited as important causes of sleep deprivation in critically ill patients. Previous studies indicated that using earplugs and eye masks can improve REM sleep in healthy subjects in simulated ICU environment, and improve sleep quality in ICU patients. This study aimed to determine the effects of using earplugs and eye masks with relaxing background music on sleep, melatonin and cortisol levels in ICU patients.

Genetic heterogeneity of susceptibility gene in different ethnic populations: refining association study of PTPN22 for Graves' disease in a Chinese Han population.

In our previous studies, we presumed subtypes of Graves' disease (GD) may be caused by different major susceptibility genes or different variants of a single susceptibility gene. However, more evidence is needed to support this hypothesis. Single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs2476601 in PTPN22 is the susceptibility loci of GD in the European population.

[Clinical characterization and treatment of acute decompression sickness after group repeated dives].

Objective: To clinically characterize the divers who suffer from decompression sickness in group after diving, optimize therapeutic treatment settings for grouped patients where the conventional individualized treatment cannot be implemented.

Methods: Clinical parameters of patients such as age, professional seniority in dive, labor intensity, diving depth and their symptoms were statistically categorized to identify the factors that correlate with treatment efficacy and recurrence rate. In accordance with the symptoms and the reactions to pressure, 4 treatment programs were applied: Program A, Program B, Program C, Program D.
