Optimal postoperative surveillance strategies for cancer survivors with gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma based on individual risk: a multicenter real-world cohort study.

Background: The best follow-up strategy for cancer survivors after treatment should balance the effectiveness and cost of disease detection while detecting recurrence as early as possible. Due to the low incidence of gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma and mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinoma [G-(MA)NEC], high-level evidence-based follow-up strategies is limited. Currently, there is a lack of consensus among clinical practice guidelines regarding the appropriate follow-up strategies for patients with resectable G-(MA)NEC.

Learning Curve of Total Hip Arthroplasty in Direct Anterior Approach without Requiring Corrective Osteotomy for Hip Dysplasia.

Objective: To explore the learning curve of total hip arthroplasty in direct anterior approach (DA-THA) without requiring corrective osteotomy for patients with unilateral developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) through the evaluation of clinical and radiographic results.

Method: From December 2015 to January 2021, we retrospectively evaluated a surgeon's first 100 patients with unilateral hip dysplasia (Crowe I-III) who underwent DA-THA. All procedures were performed by a fellowship-trained joint surgeon.

Outcomes of Laparoscopic Total Gastrectomy Combined With Spleen-Preserving Hilar Lymphadenectomy for Locally Advanced Proximal Gastric Cancer: A Nonrandomized Clinical Trial.

Importance: The long-term survival of patients with laparoscopic total gastrectomy combined with spleen-preserving splenic hilar lymphadenectomy (LSTG) for advanced upper-third gastric cancer (AUTGC) and the association of splenic hilar lymph node (LN-10) metastasis with survival remain controversial.

Objective: To evaluate the long-term outcomes of LSTG and the value index of LN-10 metastasis for patients with AUTGC.

Design, Setting, And Participants: The Chinese Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgery Study 4 (CLASS-04) was a prospective, multicenter, single-arm trial that involved 19 centers in China.

Comparison of Survival and Patterns of Recurrence in Gastric Neuroendocrine Carcinoma, Mixed Adenoneuroendocrine Carcinoma, and Adenocarcinoma.

Importance: Gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma and mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinoma are rare pathological types of gastric cancer, and there is a lack of multicenter studies comparing the prognosis and recurrence patterns of gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma, gastric mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinoma, and gastric adenocarcinoma.

Objective: To compare the differences in long-term survival and patterns of recurrence among gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma, gastric mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinoma, and gastric adenocarcinoma.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This cohort study included patients with resectable gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma and gastric mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinoma at 23 hospitals in China from January 2006 to December 2016.

Predictive Value of Combined Preoperative Carcinoembryonic Antigen Level and Ki-67 Index in Patients With Gastric Neuroendocrine Carcinoma After Radical Surgery.

PrÉcis: We present a valid and reproducible nomogram that combined the TNM stage as well as the Ki-67 index and carcinoembryonic antigen levels; the nomogram may be an indispensable tool to help predict individualized risks of death and help clinicians manage patients with gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma.

Background: To analyze the long-term outcomes of patients with grade 3 GNEC who underwent curative surgery and investigated whether the combination of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels and Ki-67 index can predict the prognosis of patients with gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma (GNEC) and constructed a nomogram to predict patient survival.

Methods: In the training cohort, data were collected from 405 patients with GNEC after radical surgery at seven Chinese centers.

To investigate the expression of miR-125b and vitamin D receptor (VDR) in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and assess the biological function of miR-125b in RCC. We used quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) to detect the expression of nucleic acids and western blotting to analyze the protein abundance in RCC cell lines. MiR-125b mimic and inhibitor were employed to investigate the function and behavior of miR-125b in RCC cell lines.

Early assessment of acute pancreatitis (AP) severity is key to its treatment. The present study aimed to explore the role of microRNAs (miRNAs/miRs) combined with inflammatory factors in determining AP severity. For this, serum pro-inflammatory cytokines [tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1, IL-6, IL-8 and IL-10)] and miRNAs [ (hsa)-miR-548d-5p, hsa-miR-126-5p and hsa-miR-130b-5p] were detected in patients with mild AP (MAP), severe AP (SAP) and recurrent AP (RAP).

Background: Acute-on-chronic liver failure due to hepatitis B virus infection is a subtype of liver failure. The aim of the current study was to investigate the clinical significance of serum lactic acid in combination with the Chronic Liver Failure-Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score (CLIF-SOFA) for evaluating the short-term prognosis of HBV-related ACLF patients.

Purpose: To evaluate whether the European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (ENETS) system or the 8th American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging manual are suitable for gastric neuroendocrine carcinomas and/or mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinomas (G-NECs/MANECs).

Methods: Patients in a multicentric series with G-NEC/MANEC who underwent curative-intent surgical resection for a primary tumor were included. An optimal staging system was proposed base on analysis of the T and N status and validated by the SEER database.

Safety and feasibility of laparoscopic spleen-preserving No. 10 lymph node dissection for locally advanced upper third gastric cancer: a prospective, multicenter clinical trial.

Background: Previous retrospective studies have shown that laparoscopic spleen-preserving D2 total gastrectomy (LSTG) for advanced upper third gastric cancer (AUTGC) is safe. However, all previous studies were underpowered. We therefore conducted a prospective, multicenter study to evaluate the technical safety and feasibility of LSTG for patients with AUTGC.

Lymphadenectomy is critical in the clinical prognosis of ovarian cancer patients. Therefore, we assessed whether lymph node ratio (LNR) has predictive value on overall survival (OS) of patients with serous epithelial ovarian cancer (SEOC). A total of 7,815 eligible SEOC patients were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, who underwent surgical resection between 1973 and 2013.

However, the identification of functional lncRNAs in HCC remains insufficient. Our study aimed to investigate the function of lncRNA OGFRP1, which has not been functionally researched before, in Hep3B and HepG2 cells.

Modified model for end-stage liver disease improves short-term prognosis of hepatitis B virus-related acute-on-chronic liver failure.

Aim: To investigate whether the short-term prognosis of hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) could be improved by using a modified model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) including serum lactate.

Methods: This clinical study was conducted at the First Affiliated Hospital, Fujian Medicine University, China. From 2009 to 2015, 236 patients diagnosed with HBV-related ACLF at our center were recruited for this 3-month follow-up study.

To assess the prognostic value of lymph node ratio (LNR) in patients with stage IV thyroid cancer based on the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. A total of 4,940 eligible patients were included for the analysis. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Cox proportional hazard regression were used to reveal the effect of LNR on overall survival (OS) and disease specific survival (DSS).

Epidemiological and etiological investigation of dengue fever in the Fujian province of China during 2004-2014.

Dengue fever (DF) is a vector-borne disease and a tremendous socioeconomic burden on tropical and subtropical countries worldwide. To explore the characteristics of DF epidemic in the Fujian province, information of DF cases in Fujian during 2004-2014 was collected and analyzed. The complete E genes of 48 viral isolates were amplified and sequenced for phylogenetic analysis.

[Validation study of prediction models of hepatitis B virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma].

Objective: To validate two previously published models (REACH-B score and CU-HCC score) for predicting the risk of developing hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Methods: In-patients of the Liver Center of First Affiliated Hospital Fujian Medical University who tested positive for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg;more than 6 months) and were admitted for treatment between October 1,2004 and May 1,2014 were enrolled for study. The 627 study participants were grouped according to presence of HCC (151 in the HCC case group, and 476 in the non-HCC control group).
