One-carbon metabolism (1CM), comprising folate metabolism and methionine metabolism, serves as an important mechanism for cellular energy provision and the production of vital signaling molecules, including single-carbon moieties. Its regulation is instrumental in sustaining the proliferation of cancer cells and facilitating metastasis; in addition, recent research has shed light on its impact on the efficacy of T cell-mediated immunotherapy. In this review, we consolidate current insights into how 1CM affects T cell activation, differentiation, and functionality.

Type I interferon (IFN-I) is a potent immune modulator intricately involved in regulating tumor immunity. Meanwhile, the integrity of the IFN-I signaling pathway is essential for radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy. However, the clinical application of IFN-I remains challenging due to its non-specific cytotoxicity and limited half-life.

Background: Despite the global increase in the adoption of robotic natural orifice specimen extraction surgery (R-NOSES), its advantages over robotic transabdominal specimen extraction surgery (R-TSES) for treating early-stage rectal cancer remain debated. There is scant nationwide, multicenter studies comparing the surgical quality and short-term outcomes between R-NOSES and R-TSES for this condition.
Objective: This retrospective cohort study was conducted nationally across multiple centers to compare the surgical quality and short-term outcomes between R-NOSES and R-TSES in early-stage rectal cancer.

Background: Currently, millions of people suffer from undiagnosed chronic hepatitis B (CHB) infection each year, which leads to high mortality rates attributed to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Previously reported assays, such as PCR-based assays, have limitations in terms of convenient for CHB screening in high-burden regions and resource-limited settings. Recently, diagnosis based on CRISPR/Cas, which has been considered as a potential method of point-of-care test (POCT) in resource-limited settings, offers a significant advantage in terms of high sensitivity and specificity.

Objective: The main aim of this study was to determine whether the use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) could improve the categorization of suspicious breast lesions based on the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS), thereby reducing the number of benign breast lesions referred for biopsy.
Methods: This prospective study, conducted between January 2017 and December 2018, enrolled consenting patients from eight teaching hospitals in China, who had been diagnosed with solid breast lesions classified as BI-RADS 4 using conventional ultrasound. CEUS was performed within 1 wk of diagnosis for reclassification of breast lesions.

Background: Kanamycin is an antibiotic that can easily cause adverse side effects if used improperly. Due to the extremely low concentrations of kanamycin in food, quantitative detection of kanamycin becomes a challenge. As one of the DNA self-assembly strategies, entropy-driven strand displacement reaction (EDSDR) does not require enzymes or hairpins to participate in the reaction, which greatly reduces the instability of detection results.

Background: Body weight and its changes have been associated with cancer outcomes. However, the associations of short-term peridiagnosis weight dynamics in standardized, clinically operational time frames with cancer survival remain largely unknown. This study aimed to screen for and evaluate the optimal indicator of short-term peridiagnosis weight dynamics to predict overall survival (OS) in patients with cancer.

Background & Aims: The key step of the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) is nutritional risk screening, while the most appropriate screening tool for colorectal cancer (CRC) patients is yet unknown. The GLIM diagnosis relies on weight loss information, and bias or even failure to recall patients' historical weight can cause misestimates of malnutrition. We aimed to compare the suitability of several screening tools in GLIM diagnosis, and establish machine learning (ML) models to predict malnutrition in CRC patients without weight loss information.

Background And Objective: Lung cancer continues to be a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, with immunotherapy emerging as a promising therapeutic strategy for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Despite its potential, not all patients experience benefits from immunotherapy, and the current biomarkers used for treatment selection possess inherent limitations. As a result, the implementation of imaging-based biomarkers to predict the efficacy of lung cancer treatments offers a promising avenue for improving therapeutic outcomes.

Background: Although the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is a reference standard used to assess a patient's nutrition status, it is cumbersome to administer. The aim of the present study was to estimate the value of a simpler and easier-to-use modified PG-SGA (mPG-SGA) to evaluate the nutrition status and need for intervention in patients with malignant tumors present in at least two organs.
Methods: A total of 591 patients (343 male and 248 female) were included from the INSCOC study.
