In anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair methods, the continuous enzymatic erosion of synovial fluid can impede healing and potentially lead to repair failure, as well as exacerbate articular cartilage wear, resulting in joint degeneration. Inspired by the blood clot during medial collateral ligament healing, we developed a composite scaffold comprising collagen (1Â %, w/v) and polyvinyl alcohol (5Â %, w/v) combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The composite scaffold provides a protective barrier against synovial erosion for the ruptured ACL, while simultaneously facilitating tissue repair, thereby enhancing the efficacy of ACL repair techniques.

The extracellular domain (ECD) of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) serves as a promising biomarker for the early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer (BC). However, due to the heterogeneity of tumors, assessing HER2 status through a core needle biopsy presents significant challenges. In this study, we propose a facile and high-performance electrochemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLIA) platform utilizing a herceptin-encapsulated gold nanoclusters (HER-AuNCs)/(diisopropylamino)ethanol (DIPEA-OH) ECL system for the clinical evaluation of HER2 ECD in BC patients.

Non-ketotic hyperglycaemia (NKH)-induced hemichorea-hemiballismus (HC-HB) is an infrequent reversible condition observed in individuals with poorly controlled diabetes. In this report, we present a case of NKH-induced HC-HB exhibiting distinctive morphological and functional alterations on conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), and H magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), followed by subsequent monitoring. A 70-year-old male with a 20-year history of diabetes presented with severe unilateral involuntary movement.

The regulation of γ-globin expression is crucial due to its beneficial effects on diseases like β-thalassemia and sickle cell disease. B-cell lymphoma/leukemia 11A (BCL11A) is a significant suppressor of γ-globin, and microRNAs (miRNAs) targeting BCL11A have been shown to alleviate this suppression. In our previous high-throughput sequencing, we identified an 11.

Respiratory tract fistulas, including tracheal and bronchial fistulas, usually cause prolonged hospitalization with developed complications and even death, while respiratory tract fistula healing remains challenging. Exploring effectiveness and mechanism in animal systems using well-designed bio-nanomaterials will improve our understanding of fistula management. Hyaluronate (hyaluronan or hyaluronic acid) has been widely studied as a promising coating material for bio-nanomaterials in treatment applications.

Cancer is a complex and multifaceted group of diseases characterized by uncontrolled cell growth that leads to the formation of malignant tumors. Recent studies suggest that N6-methyladenosine (mA) RNA methylation plays pivotal roles in cancer pathology by influencing various cellular processes. However, the degree to which these mechanisms are shared across different cancer types remains unclear.

Hypoxia will accelerate tumors metastasis and deterioration, thereby limiting the effects of chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Thus, developing efficient techniques for detecting hypoxia in tumor cells is extremely important for cancer diagnosis and therapy. In this work, we reported a dicyanoisophorone-based probe (DCI-Azo) that specifically switched on its near infrared emission with hypoxia up-regulated azo-reductase (AzoR).

Protein degradation through the ubiquitin proteasome system at the spatial and temporal regulation is essential for many cellular processes. E3 ligases and degradation signals (degrons), the sequences they recognize in the target proteins, are key parts of the ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis, and their interactions determine the degradation specificity and maintain cellular homeostasis. To date, only a limited number of targeted degron instances have been identified, and their properties are not yet fully characterized.

Furin cleavage site (FCS) of the SARS-CoV-2 S protein, which connects the S1/S2 junction, is essential for facilitating fusion with the host cells. Wild-type (Wt) SARS-CoV-2 S protein, PDB ID: 6yvb, lacks a sequence of amino acid residues, including the FCS that links the S1/S2 junction. For the first time, we demonstrated that a stretch of 14 amino acid residues (677QTNSPRRARSVASQ689) forms an antiparallel β-sheet comprising of PRRAR sequence in the FCS within a short loop.

5-formylcytidine (fC) is a unique post-transcriptional RNA modification found in mRNA and tRNA at the wobble site, playing a crucial role in mitochondrial protein synthesis and potentially contributing to the regulation of translation. Recent studies have unveiled that the fC modifications may drive mitochondrial mRNA translation to power cancer metastasis. Accurate identification of fC sites is essential for further unraveling their molecular functions and regulatory mechanisms, but there are currently no computational methods available for predicting their locations.
