Polar 3D organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites (OIHPs) with the bulk photovoltaic effect (BPVE) have important application value in self-driven X-ray detection, due to their excellent semiconductor properties. However, A-site cations are limited by the tolerance factor, making it difficult to construct ABX-type polar 3D perovskites. Therefore, it is necessary to explore polar 3D perovskitiods with excellent semiconductor properties for self-driven X-ray detection.

Layered hybrid perovskites possess exceptional semiconductor features and structural versality, making them viable candidates for developing multifunctional dielectric phase-transition materials (PTMS). However, most PTMs based on layered hybrid perovskites still suffer from Pb toxicity and low operating temperature. The recently developed hybrid double perovskites provide a new routine to designed PTMs with desired working performance and environment-friendly chemical compositions.

Developing a noncontact ratiometric luminescent temperature sensor with high sensitivity, widely available emission range, and reliable performance is a challenge in materials science. Herein, we demonstrated that this goal can be achieved by fabricating a lanthanide-functionalized hydrogen-bonded organic framework film (named the Eu@HOF-TCBP film). The unbonded carboxylic groups that existed in the structure not only enable lanthanide ions to bind with the framework for bringing dual emission but also allow for preparing a hydrogen-bonded organic framework (HOF) film through the facile electrophoretic deposition.

Two novel inorganic-organic hybrid zinc phosphites, namely, [Zn(1,2-bimb)(HPO)] (1) and [Zn(1,4-bmimb)(HPO)] (2), (1,2-bimb = 1,2-bis(imidazol-1ylmethyl)benzene; 1,4-bmimb = 1,4-bis((2-methyl-1-imidazol-1yl)methyl)benzene) were synthesized for the first time by hydrothermal reaction. Compound 1 generates a three-dimensional (3D) pillared-layer structure with a 2-nodal 3,4-connected topology. While compound 2 exhibits a 2D hybrid zinc phosphite sheet with a 3,4-connected topology network.

Development of metal-organic framework (MOF) films for selectively positioning inhibitors in metallic anticorrosion applications remains a substantial challenge due to the difficulty of controlling the arrangement of inhibitor molecules in MOF pores. Cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), which contains hydrophobic and hydrophilic tails, was chosen as a prototypical inhibitor and was selectively located in the pores of the classic HKUST-1 thin film on a metallic surface. Experimental results reveal that the prepared CTAB@HKUST-1 film displays good metallic anticorrosion performances, especially for bronze conservation.

A novel dual-emitting metal-organic framework based on Zr and Eu, named as UiO-66(Zr&Eu), was built using a clever strategy based on secondary building units. With the use of polymers, the obtained UiO-66(Zr&Eu) was subsequently deposited as thin films that can be utilized as smart thermometers. The UiO-66(Zr&Eu) polymer films can be used for the detection of temperature changes in the range of 237-337 K due to the energy transfer between the lanthanide ions (Eu in clusters) and the luminescent ligands, and the relative sensitivity reaches 4.

A new strategy has been introduced to successfully fabricate the hydrophobic barriers of PADs by using organofluorine-modified superhydrophobic TiO NPs. Superhydrophobic TiO-140 NPs with high-photoactivity can be converted to hydrophilicity by self-degradation of surface organic moieties under full spectrum light irradiation. Superhydrophobic TiO-RT NPs with low-photoactivity exhibits good hydrophobic stability under light irradiation.

Engineering novel dual-emitting metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with wide emission ranges for application as ratiometric temperature sensors is still a challenge. In this paper, two novel dual-emitting MOFs with intergrated lanthanide metals and luminescent ligand in a UiO-66-type structure, named Ln@UiO-66-Hybrid, were prepared via the combination of postsynthetic modification and postsynthetic exchange methods. Subsequently, the as-synthesized MOFs were deposited onto fluorine tin oxide substrates through electrophoretic deposition by taking advantage of the charges from the unmodified carboxylic groups of the MOFs.

Until now, it has been a challenge to prepare lanthanide metal-organic framework films on traditional substrates, like zinc plate, indium oxide (ITO), and fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) glasses in a rapid and facile method. In this paper, continuous and dense Ln-BTC MOFs films on unmodified low-cost substrates have been rapidly and easily fabricated though the newly developed electrophoretic deposition (EPD) method in 5 min. Moreover, the as-prepared luminescent films were successfully used for the detection of nitrobenzene (NB), trinitrotoluene (TNT) in gas phases, as well as NB, Cr ions for detection in solution.

A series of flexible MOFs (PCN-605, PCN-606, and PCN-700) are synthesized and applied to reversible bromine encapsulation and release. The chemical stability of these Zr-MOFs ensures the framework's integrity during the bromine adsorption, while the framework's flexibility allows for structural adaptation upon bromine uptake to afford stronger host-guest interactions and therefore higher bromine adsorption capacities. The flexible MOFs act as bromine-nanocontainers which elongate the storage time of volatile halides under ambient conditions.

The integration of porous metal-organic frameworks onto the surface of materials, for use as functional devices, is currently emerging as a promising approach for gas sensing and flexible displays. However, research focused on potential applications in electronic devices is in its infancy. Here we present a facile strategy by which interpenetrated, crystalline metal-organic framework films are deposited onto conductive metal-plate anodes via in situ temperature-controlled electrochemical assembly.

Electrochemically-assisted microwave deposition technology, a facile method for the fabrication of luminescent metal-organic framework (LMOF) films, is presented herein. This method was further developed into a versatile method for preparing patterned LMOF films. The strategy based on this method can spatially locate microcrystals of MOFs on a surface, which provides great promise in anti-counterfeiting barcode applications.

A new small-pore compound K(4)Fe(4)P(5)O(20) was obtained by conventional solid-state reaction in a closed crucible. The crystal structure is constructed by Fe(4)P(5)O(20) units forming chains along the c axis and elliptical eight-ring channels on the a-b plane in which K cations locate inside. Such structural characteristics seem to be quite similar to those seen in the natrolite family.

In this communication, the novel nonlinear optical crystal material Cd(4)BiO(BO(3))(3) with 3-chromophore asymmetric structures of CdO(n), BiO(6), and BO(3) groups has been prepared by a flux method, and the single crystal structure has been determined with the space group Cm. It is the largest NLO coefficient for Cd(4)BiO(BO(3))(3) among borate systems, and the strong NLO response originates from cooperation effects of the 3-chromophore asymmetric structures composed of the polar displacement of d(10) Cd(2+) ion, stereochemically active lone pair of Bi(3+), and pi-delocalization of BO(3). These evidence are provided in view of evaluations of calculated density of states and electron-density difference maps.
