The carbon fiber reinforced polyetheretherketone (CFR-PEEK) has been increasingly used in orthopedics dentistry due to its excellent biocompatibility and mechanical properties. However, the biological inertness and poor antibacterial activity limit its clinical applications. This paper focused on the performances of CFR-PEEK with porous morphology that were exposed to different sulfonation periods (1, 3, 5, and 10 min, corresponding to CP-S1, CP-S3, CP-S5, and CP-S10, respectively).

Ln-type supramolecular architectures have received significant attention recently due to their unique magnetism and optical properties. Herein, we report the triple-stranded Ln-type lanthanide molecular quasi-lanterns, which are fabricated by the deprotonation self-assembly of a linear ligand featuring a β-diketone chelating claw and 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) moiety with lanthanide ions (Ln = Eu and Dy). The crystal structure analysis indicates that Eu and Dy ions are all coordinated by eight oxygen donors but in different coordination geometries.

Synthesis of lignin-based carbon dots (LCDs) with high quantum yield (QY), stable fluorescence properties and biocompatibility has been a challenge. Here, we propose an improved two-step strategy for producing high-quality LCDs from enzymatic hydrolysis lignin (EHL). The p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid used in the strategy not only provides nitrogen and sulfur elements, but also tailors the disordered three-dimensional structure of EHL.

Ti, Cr dual-element-doped LiMnNiO (LNMO) cathode materials (LTNMCO) were synthesized by a simple high-temperature solid-phase method. The obtained LTNMCO shows the standard structure of the 3 space group, and the Ti and Cr doped ions may replace the Ni and Mn sites in LNMO, respectively. The effect of Ti-Cr doping and single-element doping on the structure of LNMO was studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) characteristics.

Well-defined 3d-4f heterometallic supramolecular architectures have attracted attention because of their applications in the field of luminescence and magnetism. However, covalent metallo-supramolecular discrete complexes, decorated with hetero-metallic vertices, have never been reported because of the difficulties in design and control. Herein, we report a series of covalent metallo-supramolecular discrete complexes with 3d-4f vertices synthesized by hierarchical subcomponent self-assembly of tris(2-aminoethyl)amine, 2,6-diformyl--cresol, and lanthanide ions (Ln) with different amines and transition metal ions.

With the increasing demand for tooth bleaching in esthetic dentistry, its safety has been the focus of a comprehensive body of literature. In this context, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the application effects of pentalysine β-carbonylphthalocyanine zinc (ZnPc(Lys))-mediated photodynamic therapy in dentin bleaching and its effects on dentin collagen. We first established a new and reproducible tooth staining model using dentin blocks stained by Orange II and then bleached with ZnPc(Lys) (25 μM) and hydrogen peroxide (10% or 30%).

In this work, a new luminescent material of a small-molecule stilbene derivative (BABCz) containing anthracene was designed and synthesized by three simple reactions. The material was characterized by H-NMR, FTMS, and X-ray and tested using TGA, DSC, UV/Vis, fluorescence spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy. The results demonstrate that BABCz has luminescence properties with good thermal stability and can be doped with 4,4'-bis(N-carbazolyl)-1,1'-biphenyl (CBP) to prepare highly uniform films, which allows the fabrication of OLED devices with ITO/CsCO:BABCz/CBP:BABCz/MoO/Al configuration.

Supramolecular assemblies fabricated by peptide-photosensitizer conjugates have attracted increasing attentions in recent years as drug carriers for chemotherapeutics (CTs). However, these assemblies have been known to suffer from disintegration by serum components leading to off-target drug release, and thereby impairing antitumor effects and causing systemic toxicities. To address this problem, this study reports a nano-architectural self-assembly peptide-photosensitizer carrier (NSPC) fabricated by conjugating a phthalocyanine derivative (MCPZnPc) and ε-poly-l-lysine (EPL).

A two-dimensional metal-organic framework, FICN-12, was constructed from tris[4-(1-pyrazole-4-yl)phenyl]amine (HTPPA) ligands and Ni secondary building units. The triphenylamine moiety in the HTPPA ligand readily absorbs UV-visible photons and sensitizes the Ni center to drive photocatalytic CO reduction. FICN-12 can be exfoliated into monolayer and few-layer nanosheets with a "top-down" approach, which exposes more catalytic sites and increases its catalytic activity.

Analytical screening and validation systems based on a combination of cell membrane chromatography and two-dimensional chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry are incapable of providing prepared samples containing the active ingredients found in traditional Chinese medicine; therefore, these samples cannot be directly used in subsequent studies. In this study, a semi-preparative cell membrane chromatography column was developed using a hydrogel-modified carrier and human umbilical vein endothelial cells to optimize prepared conditions, such as hydrogel polymerization, cell fragmentation, and cell membrane volume. This increased the binding ratio of membrane protein and carrier to 15.

Preparation of catalytically active dinuclear transition metal complexes with an open coordination sphere is a challenging task because the metal sites tend to be "saturated" with excess donor atoms around during synthesis. By isolating the binding scaffolds with the metal-organic framework (MOF) skeleton and installing metal sites through post-synthetic modification, we succeed in constructing a MOF-supported metal catalyst, namely FICN-7-Fe2, with dinuclear Fe sites. FICN-7-Fe2 effectively catalyses the hydroboration of a broad range of ketone, aldehyde, and imine substrates with a low loading of 0.

The photocatalytic hydrogenation of CO by Cu-deposited ZnO (Cu/ZnO) polar surfaces is investigated through density functional theory (DFT) calculations combined with experimental work. The DFT results demonstrate that, without Cu-loading, CO and H present weak physisorption on the clean ZnO polar surface, except that H undergoes strong chemisorption on the ZnO(0001̄) surface. Cu deposition on the ZnO polar surface could remarkably enhance the CO chemisorption ability, due to the induced charge redistribution on the interface of the Cu/ZnO polar surface systems.
