Phosphorus, as a nonrenewable resource, plays a crucial role in crop development and productivity. However, the extent to which straw amendments contribute to the dynamics of soil alkaline phosphomonoesterase (ALP)-producing bacterial community and functionality over an extended period remains elusive. Here, we conducted a 7-year long-term field experiment consisting of a no-fertilizer control, a chemical fertilizer treatment, and three straw (straw, straw combined with manure, and straw biochar) treatments.

Elevated CO (eCO) stimulates productivity and nutrient demand of crops. Thus, comprehensively understanding the crop phosphorus (P) acquisition strategy is critical for sustaining agriculture to combat climate changes. Here, wheat ( L) was planted in field in the eCO (550 µmol mol) and ambient CO (aCO, 415 µmol mol) environments.

The mitochondrial pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC) plays a crucial role in linking the glycolysis pathway and the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle. Previously, we reported that a mutation of , encoding an E1β subunit of PDC, affects the abundance of auxin efflux carriers PIN-FORMED proteins (PINs) via reduced recycling and enhanced degradation in vacuoles. Here, we further analyzed the effects of TCA cycle inhibition on vesicle trafficking using both the mutant and 3-BP, a TCA cycle inhibitor.

Vascular cambium is the continuation of meristem activity at the top of plants, which promotes lateral growth of plants. The vascular cambium evolved as an adaptation for secondary growth, initially in early seed plants, and became more refined in the evolution of gymnosperms and angiosperms. In angiosperms, it is crucial for plant growth and wood formation.

Background: Global climate change significantly impacts ecosystems, particularly through temperature fluctuations that affect insect physiology and behavior. As poikilotherms, insect pests such as the globally devastating diamondback moth (DBM), Plutella xylostella, are especially vulnerable to rising temperatures and extreme heat events, necessitating effective adaptive mechanisms.
Results: Here we demonstrate the roles of zinc finger proteins (ZFPs) in mediating thermal adaptability in DBM.

Medium- and long-chain triacylglycerols (MLCTs) are regarded as healthy premium oils; however, the health benefits of novel MLCTs enriched with lauric and α-linolenic acids are still not fully understood. This study examined the health benefits of lauric-α-linolenic structural lipids (ALSL) and physical mixture (PM) with a similar fatty acid composition in mice with obesity induced by the high-fat diet (HFD). The data indicated that ALSL is more effective than PM in counteracting obesity, insulin resistance, hyperlipidaemia, liver injury, and systemic inflammation in HFD-induced mice.

Introduction: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) often leads to elevated blood glucose levels and lipid metabolism disorder, which is generally accompanied by dysbiosis of gut microbiota and metabolic dysfunction.
Methods: In this study, a mouse model of T2DM was established by feeding a high-fat/sucrose diet combined with injecting a low dose of streptozotocin. The aim of this study was to analyze the regulatory effect of Suaeda salsa extract (SSE) on T2DM and its effect on the intestinal flora of mice.

Nighttime light data partially reflects the process of urban modernization and its reaction to urban scale, but its correlation with noise remains unclear, especially over a long-term time series, remains unclear. To address this gap, we examine 31 provincial capital cities and municipalities in China as the study area, utilizing noise monitoring data and nighttime light data to explore their relationship in urban areas from 2012 to 2021. The results show that: (1) During the study period, the regional environmental noise and night light index of 31 major cities exhibited a consistent upward trend, with the average equivalent sound level of environmental noise in most urban areas fluctuating between 50.

Leaf angle is a major agronomic trait that determines plant architecture, which directly affects rice planting density, photosynthetic efficiency, and yield. The plant phytohormones brassinosteroids (BRs) and the MAPK signaling cascade are known to play crucial roles in regulating the leaf angle, but the underlying molecular mechanisms are not fully understood. Here, we report a rice WRKY family transcription factor gene, OsWRKY72, which positively regulates leaf angle by affecting lamina joint development and BR signaling.
