Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Science, Eye & ENT Hospital, Shanghai Medical College, Fudan University, Shanghai, China.

Background: The registry system can be used to observe the distribution trend of diseases and analyze the related data to provide useful information in a way that enables the government to take appropriate interventional measures. The purpose of this study was to determine the causes and three-year incidence of newly registered disabled patients who were blind or had low vision in Jing-An District, Shanghai, China from 2010 to 2015.

Methods: Data from the registration system of visual disability in Jing-An District, Shanghai from 2010 to 2015 were collected and analyzed.

To evaluate whether the efficacy and safety of embolization of the aneurysmal neck were better than those of embolization of the entire aneurysm. Previous studies found that embolization of the aneurysmal neck can be used for treating ruptured intracranial aneurysm with bleb formation. In all, 163 patients with ruptured aneurysms with bleb formation who underwent endovascular embolization at the Shanghai Municipal Jing'an District Central Hospital from January 2014 to August 2015 were divided into the embolization of aneurysmal neck group (neck group; 87 cases) and embolization of entire aneurysm group (aneurysm group; 76 cases).

In this study, composite cements containing mesoporous magnesium silicate (m-MS) and calcium sulfate (CS) were fabricated. The results revealed that the setting time of the m-MS/CS composite cements (m-MSC) slightly prolonged with the increase of m-MS content while the compressive strength suffered a little loss. The doping of m-MS improved the water absorption, drug release (vancomycin) and degradability of the m-MSC in Tris-HCl solution (pH=7.

Introduction: Erythropoietin (EPO) is a commonly used option in the treatment of chemotherapy-induced anaemia (CIA). However, ∼30-50% of patients fail to achieve an adequate response after initial treatment. Prior studies have demonstrated that intravenous iron might synergistically improve therapeutic response to EPO treatment in this patient population.

Pancreatic adenocarcinoma is one of the most leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Although recent advances provide various treatment options, pancreatic adenocarcinoma has poor prognosis due to its late diagnosis and ineffective therapeutic multimodality. Gemcitabine is the effective first-line drug in pancreatic adenocarcinoma treatment.

Gallstone disease is a common and frequently occurring disease in human, and it is the main disease among the digestive system diseases. The incidence of gallstone disease in western countries is about 5%-22%, and common bile duct stones (CBDS) accounts for 8%-20%. CBDS easily lead to biliary obstruction, secondary cholangitis, pancreatitis, and obstructive jaundice, even endanger life.

The glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist exendin-4 ameliorates warfarin-associated hemorrhagic transformation after cerebral ischemia.

J Neuroinflammation

August 2016

Department of Neurology, Huashan Hospital, State Key Laboratory of Medical Neurobiology, Fudan University, No. 12 Middle Wulumuqi Road, Shanghai, 200040, China.

Background: As the number of patients with cardioembolic ischemic stroke is predicted to be double by 2030, increased burden of warfarin-associated hemorrhagic transformation (HT) after cerebral ischemia is an expected consequence. However, thus far, no effective treatment strategy is available for HT prevention in routine clinical practice. While the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonist exendin-4 (Ex-4) is known to protect against oxidative stress and neuronal cell death caused by ischemic brain damage, its effect on preventing warfarin-associated HT after cerebral ischemia is yet unknown.

Epidemiological studies indicate a genetic contribution to colorectal cancer (CRC), but specific genetic variants remain unknown. Genome-wide association studies have identified rs4444235 at BMP4 as a new colorectal cancer (CRC) and colorectal adenoma (CRA) susceptibility locus in populations of European descent. After that, several validation studies have been conducted among various ethnic populations to investigate if the SNP was associated with CRC/CRA, but the results have been inconsistent.

Study of regulatory pathway of related molecules in hemolytic uremic syndrome.

Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci

October 2014

The Department of Nephrology, Jing'an District Centre Hospital of Shanghai, (Huashan Hospital Fudan University Jing'an Branch), Shanghai, China.

Objective: To screen Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS) related differentially expressed genes using the microarray data of neonatal microvascular endothelial cells from human skin treated with or without Shiga toxin, and study the the mechanism of HUS from multiple angles.

Materials And Methods: The microarray dataset GSE32710 was download from gene expression database GEO (Gene Expression Omnibus), which included a total of 12 samples, 6 samples were treated with Shiga toxin while the others were normal without any treatments. Then the raw chip data were preprocessed by R package, and T-test was utilized for differentially expressed genes screening.

Hyperoxic acute lung injury (HALI) is a clinical syndrome as a result of prolonged supplement of high concentrations of oxygen. Previous studies have shown hyperbaric oxygen preconditioning (HBO-PC) had a protective effect on oxidative injury. In the present study, we investigated the effect of HBO-PC on HALI in rats.

Background: Ruptured intracranial aneurysm (ICA) with bleb formation (RICABF) is a special type of ruptured ICA. However, the exact role and effectiveness of endovascular coil embolization (ECE) in RICABF is unknown. We aimed to investigate the effectiveness and safety of ECE of aneurysm neck for RICABF treatment.
