The synthesis of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with diverse geometries has captivated considerable interest due to their manifestation of novel and extraordinary properties. While much progress has been made in shaping regular polyhedral single-crystal MOFs, the creation of more complex, topologically intricate nanostructures remains a largely unexplored frontier. Here, we present a refined site-specific anisotropic assembly and etching co-mediation approach to fabricate a series of hierarchical MOF nanohybrids and single-crystal MOFs.

GENCODE produces comprehensive reference gene annotation for human and mouse. Entering its twentieth year, the project remains highly active as new technologies and methodologies allow us to catalog the genome at ever-increasing granularity. In particular, long-read transcriptome sequencing enables us to identify large numbers of missing transcripts and to substantially improve existing models, and our long non-coding RNA catalogs have undergone a dramatic expansion and reconfiguration as a result.

Networks haven been widely used to understand the spread of infectious disease. This study examines the properties of small-world networks in modeling infectious disease on campus. Two different small-world models are developed and the behaviors of infectious disease in the models are observed through numerical simulations.

Purpose: The prevalence of parental burnout, a condition that has severe consequences for both parents and children, varies dramatically across countries and is highest in Western countries characterized by high individualism.
Method: In this study, we examined the mediators of the relationship between individualism measured at the country level and parental burnout measured at the individual level in 36 countries (16,059 parents).
Results: The results revealed three mediating mechanisms, that is, self-discrepancies between socially prescribed and actual parental selves, high agency and self-directed socialization goals, and low parental task sharing, by which individualism leads to an increased risk of burnout among parents.

Plate readers are commonly used to measure cell growth and fluorescence, yet the utility and reproducibility of plate reader data is limited by the fact that it is typically reported in arbitrary or relative units. We have previously established a robust serial dilution protocol for calibration of plate reader measurements of absorbance to estimated bacterial cell count and for green fluorescence from proteins expressed in bacterial cells to molecules of equivalent fluorescein. We now extend these protocols to calibration of red fluorescence to the sulforhodamine-101 fluorescent dye and blue fluorescence to Cascade Blue.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology has been increasingly used in neuroscience studies. Reproducibility of statistically significant findings generated by MRI-based studies, especially association studies (phenotype vs. MRI metric) and task-induced brain activation, has been recently heavily debated.

Tumor blockade therapy is a promising penetration-independent antitumor modality, which effectively inhibits the exchange of nutrients, oxygen, and information between the tumor and surrounding microenvironments. However, the current blockade therapy strategies have limited antitumor efficacy due to defects of inadequate tumor obstruction, possible side effects, and short duration. For these reasons, a facilely synthesized versatile polymer 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-poly(ethylene glycol)-alendronate (DSPE-PEG-ALN, DPA) is developed to initiate the formation of biomineral shell around osteosarcoma as a potent physical barrier.

The movements of ancient crop and animal domesticates across prehistoric Eurasia are well-documented in the archaeological record. What is less well understood are the precise mechanisms that farmers and herders employed to incorporate newly introduced domesticates into their long-standing husbandry and culinary traditions. This paper presents stable isotope values (δC, δN) of humans, animals, and a small number of plants from the Hexi Corridor, a key region that facilitated the movement of ancient crops between Central and East Asia.

Unlabelled: High levels of stress in the parenting domain can lead to , a condition that has severe consequences for both parents and children It is not yet clear, however, whether parental burnout varies by culture, and if so, why it might do so. In this study, we examined the prevalence of parental burnout in 42 countries (17,409 parents; 71% mothers; M = 39.20) and showed that the prevalence of parental burnout varies dramatically across countries.

Long-term use of hair dyes has potential effects on metal content in hair. However, little research dissects the specific distribution and composition variations of the metal after dyeing. In this study, we investigated the morphological change and metallic elements content variation after dyeing.

This work reports on a quinodimethane-type molecule, 2,7-dicyanomethylene-9-(2-ethylhexyl)carbazole (1), one of the shortest π-conjugated biradicaloids reported to be stable in solution under ambient conditions. This carbazole-based quinoidal precursor is able to form a macrocyclic σ-bonded tetramer (2). The resolved single-crystal X-ray structure of tetramer 2 shows that four molecules of 1 are linked together through four long (CN) C-C(CN) bonds (1.

Vinyl cyclopropanes are amongst the most useful building blocks in organic synthesis. Their easy opening and capacity to generate dipoles have been exploited for the synthesis of cyclopentanes with good yields and sometimes excellent stereoselectivities. In this review we give an overview of their applications, focusing on the present century.

Common infrastructures and platforms are required for international collaborations in large-scale human genomic research and policy development, such as the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health and the 'ELSI 2.0' initiative. Such initiatives may require international harmonization of ethical and regulatory requirements.
