Introduction: The introduction of intraoperative fluorophores represented a significant advancement in neurosurgical practice. Nowadays they found different applications: in oncology to improve the visualization of tumoral tissue and optimize resection rates and in vascular neurosurgery to assess the exclusion of vascular malformations or the permeability of bypasses, with real-time intraoperative evaluations.
Research Question: A comprehensive knowledge of how fluorophores work is crucial to maximize their benefits and to incorporate them into daily neurosurgical practice.

Although open repair remains the mainstream treatment for aortic arch dissection, its surgical complexity and perioperative complications are significant. We developed a novel stentgraft system for less-invasive endovascular aortic arch repair. We successfully performed a total percutaneous transfemoral endovascular repair of aortic arch dissection using a novel off-the-shelf endograft system.

Objective: To analyze the clinical application value of CO laser combined with 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy for periungual and plantar warts.
Methods: Data from patients with periungual and plantar warts treated at Qingpu branch of Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University between August 2022 and January 2024 were retrospectively analyzed. After screening based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 96 patients were included and categorized into two groups according to their treatment regimens: a combination group (n=50, receiving CO laser therapy and 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy) and a control group (n=46, undergoing CO laser treatment alone).

Drug resistance to a single agent is common in cancer-targeted therapies, and rational drug combinations are a promising approach to overcome this challenge. Many Food and Drug Administration-approved drugs can induce cellular senescence, which possesses unique vulnerabilities and molecular signatures. However, there is limited analysis on the effect of the combination of cellular-senescence-inducing drugs and targeted therapy drugs.

Introduction: Visual short-term memory (VSTM) is a critical indicator of Alzheimer's disease (AD), but whether its neural substrates could adapt to early disease progression and contribute to cognitive resilience in amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) has been unclear.
Methods: Fifty-five aMCI patients and 68 normal controls (NC) performed a change-detection task and underwent multimodal neuroimaging scanning.
Results: Among the atrophic brain regions in aMCI, VSTM performance correlated with the volume of the right prefrontal cortex (PFC) but not the medial temporal lobe (MTL), and this correlation was mainly present in patients with greater MTL atrophy.
Background: Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) and Methyltransferase-like 14 (METTL14) have been identified to be involved in spinal cord injury (SCI). However, whether FGF21 functioned in SCI via METTL14-induced N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification remains unclear.
Materials And Methods: PC12 cells were exposed to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in vitro.

Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genes in the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) region are crucial for immunity and are associated with numerous diseases and phenotypes. The MHC region's complexity and high genetic diversity make it challenging to analyze using short-read sequencing (SRS) technology. We sequence the MHC region of 100 Han Chinese individuals using both long-read sequencing (LRS) and SRS platforms at approximately 30X coverage to study genetic alterations and their potential functional impacts.

The maintenance of early pregnancy is a complex and distinctive process, primarily characterized by critical reproductive events such as embryo implantation, trophoblasts differentiation, decidualization, and extravillous trophoblasts (EVTs) invasion etc. However, dysregulation of these essential reproductive processes can result in various pregnancy complications, including recurrent miscarriage, preeclampsia, and fetal growth restriction etc. Notably, these complications exhibit an interconnected regulatory network that suggests shared underlying pathophysiological mechanisms.

Purpose: Obesity is closely associated with a lower risk of inguinal hernia, but the association between different obesity metrics and the risk of inguinal hernia is still unclear.
Methods: In our study, we categorized obesity measurement indicators into three groups based on the difficulty of measurement: (1) indicators easily available, such as body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), hip circumference (HC), and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR); (2) indicators accessible with moderate difficulty, such as body fat percentage and body fat mass; (3) indicators difficultly accessible, such as the volume of visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT). Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was used to investigate the causal relationship between various adiposity measures and the risk of inguinal hernia in both European ancestry and East Asians.

More than 70% of human information comes from vision. The eye is one of the most attractive sensing sites to collect biological parameters. However, it is urgent to develop a cost-effective and easy-to-use approach to monitor eyeball information in a minimally invasive way instead of current smart contact lenses or camera-based eyeglasses.

Metastatic disease is the final stage of breast cancer that accounts for vast majority of patient death. Mounting data over recent years strongly support the critical roles of the immune microenvironment in determining breast cancer metastasis. The latest single-cell studies provide further molecular evidence illustrating the heterogeneity of this immune microenvironment.

Gamma-interferon-induced lysosomal thiol reductase (GILT), known for catalyzing disulfide bond reduction, is involved in various physiological processes. While the involvement of GILT in the development of various tumors has been demonstrated, the mechanisms underlying its regulation in prostate cancer (PCa) are not fully understood. In the present study, we confirmed that GILT was significantly upregulated in PCa and facilitated tumor metastasis.

Decentralized Finance (DeFi) is reshaping traditional finance by enabling direct transactions without intermediaries, creating a rich source of open financial data. Layer 2 (L2) solutions are emerging to enhance the scalability and efficiency of the DeFi ecosystem, surpassing Layer 1 (L1) systems. However, the impact of L2 solutions is still underexplored, mainly due to the lack of comprehensive transaction data indices for economic analysis.

Although rare non-coding variants (RVs) play crucial roles in complex traits and diseases, understanding their mechanisms and identifying disease-associated RVs continue to be major challenges. Here we constructed a comprehensive atlas of alternative polyadenylation (APA) outliers (aOutliers), including 1334 3' UTR and 200 intronic aOutliers, from 15,201 samples across 49 human tissues. These aOutliers exhibit unique characteristics from transcription or splicing outliers, with a pronounced RV enrichment.

The emergence of several chemical substances continues to enrich and facilitate the development of food science, but their irrational use also poses a threat to food safety and human health. Nontargeted screening (NTS) has become an important tool for rapid traceability and efficient identification of chemical hazards in food matrices. NTS in food analysis is highly integrated with sample pretreatment, instrumental analysis platforms, data acquisition and analysis, and toxicology.
