Objective: The aims of this study were to assess trust in the medical profession among adolescents in an urban pediatric emergency department (ED) and explore factors associated with trust.
Methods: We used a computerized survey to assess personal trust, perceived trust among family/friends, health care use, general and genital examination preferences, health behaviors, and demographics among youth aged 14 to 19 years. The primary outcome was the mean composite score of a validated 5-item scale.

Background: Fat embolism (FE) and the consequent FE syndrome occurring after trauma or surgery can lead to serious pulmonary injury, including ARDS and death. Current treatment of FE syndrome is limited to supportive therapy. We have shown in a rat model that the renin angiotensin system plays a significant role in the pathophysiology of FE because drugs interfering with the renin angiotensin system, captopril and losartan reduce the histopathologic pulmonary damage.

He earned his master's degree from the Jordan University of Science and Technology in Jordan. His research interest is primary health and cardiovascular disease. Chandrani Isac, RN, MSc, is a lecturer at the College of Nursing in Sultan Qaboos University. She earned her master's degree from Dr. MGR Medical University in India. Her research interest is nursing education. Huda Gharaibeh, PhD, RN, is an associate professor at the College of Nursing at Jordan University of Science and Technology. Background: Patients who undergo coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery experience a wide spectrum of physical and psychological symptoms after surgery. Studies have shown that symptoms usually decline over time; however, some can persist up to months after discharge.
Objectives: This study aims to assess symptoms experienced by patients after CABG surgery and any associations with demographic variables.

Background: This study investigated the effect of comorbidity, age, health insurance payer status, and race on the risk of patient nonadherence to NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines) for Colon and Rectal Cancers. In addition, the prognostic impact of NCCN treatment nonadherence on overall survival was assessed.
Patients And Methods: Patients with CRC who received primary treatment at Memorial University Medical Center from 2003 to 2010 were eligible for this study.

Purpose: The purpose of this preliminary study was to describe and explore the behavioral autonomy (both independent functioning and decision making) of adolescents with type 1 diabetes.
Methods: A sample of 34 adolescents with type 1 diabetes completed checklists on independent functioning and decision making for daily and nondaily diabetes management as well as typical adolescent activities/rules.
Results: Independent functioning in daily diabetes management was greater for older adolescents.
