Background: Benzalkonium chloride (BAK) is a known irritant, and potentially cross-reacting quaternary ammonium compounds are commonly used as preservatives in personal care products.

Objective: The aim of the study was to review positive reactions to BAK in 615 patients patch tested for suspected allergic contact dermatitis.

Methods: A retrospective chart review was performed in 615 patients patch tested from June 2015 to October 2016.

Objectives: Risk factors for residential fire death (young age, minority race/ethnicity, and low socioeconomic status) are common among urban pediatric emergency department (ED) patients. Community-based resources are available in our region to provide free smoke detector installation. The objective of our study was to describe awareness of these resources and home fire safety practices in this vulnerable population.

Objective: The often small number of oral contraceptive pill (OCP) cycles provided may contribute to high rates of discontinuation. We examined the effect of an increased OCP supply on 6-month continuation rates.

Methods: This was a randomized trial of women initiating OCP use at an urban family-planning clinic (n=700).
