The National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) operates the Be The Match Registry to serve patients who require an allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (alloHCT). The factors that result in progression of an active donor search (ie, request for tissue typing or stem cell donation) to alloHCT are poorly understood. Some factors, such as differences in access by ethnic group, are known; however, deeper understanding of other patient and search factors is needed.

Preclinical modeling suggests that intermittent BRAF inhibitor therapy may delay acquired resistance when blocking oncogenic BRAF in melanoma. We conducted S1320, a randomized, open-label, phase 2 clinical trial (NCT02196181) evaluating whether intermittent dosing of the BRAF inhibitor dabrafenib and the MEK inhibitor trametinib improves progression-free survival in patients with metastatic and unresectable BRAF melanoma. Patients were enrolled at 68 academic and community sites nationally.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to describe and evaluate the impact of the participation of an antimicrobial stewardship program (ASP) pharmacist in microbiology rounds at our institution.
Methods: This single-center retrospective descriptive study included inpatient and ambulatory adults (≥18 years) with a susceptibility request reviewed during microbiology rounds between October 2018 and March 2019. In October 2018, multidisciplinary telephone microbiology rounds were initiated with the medical directors of the clinical microbiology laboratory and ASP pharmacist to review susceptibility requests.

Background: Intracranial capillary hemangiomas (ICHs) are rare vascular tumors composed of a bed of many narrow thin-walled vessels. Within the confines of the skull, these tumors can lead to serious neurologic deficits including cranial nerve dysfunction, mood/personality disturbances, and signs of intracranial mass effect.
Methods: We report the case of a 23-year-old, 5-week postpartum woman with a history of progressive painful ophthalmalgia of the right eye presenting with rapid onset of ptosis, diplopia, and right-sided facial pain and hypesthesia.

Purpose: Accurate target definition is critical for the appropriate application of radiation therapy. In 2008, the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) published an international collaborative atlas to define the clinical target volume (CTV) for intensity modulated pelvic radiation therapy in the postoperative treatment of endometrial and cervical cancer. The current project is an updated consensus of CTV definitions, with removal of all references to bony landmarks and inclusion of the para-aortic and inferior obturator nodal regions.

Purpose: The study aim was to understand implementation constructs in a multi-site translational research study on readiness for hospital discharge that distinguished study sites with low versus high implementation fidelity.
Methods: In this descriptive study, site Principal Investigator interviews (from 8 highest and 8 lowest fidelity sites) were framed with questions from 20 relevant CFIR constructs.

Background: Recognising that the immune suppressive microenvironment promotes tumour growth in Hodgkin lymphoma, we hypothesised that activating immunity might augment the activity of targeted chemotherapy. We evaluated the safety and activity of combinations of brentuximab vedotin with nivolumab or ipilimumab, or both in patients with relapsed or refractory Hodgkin lymphoma.
Methods: In this multicentre, open-label, phase 1/2 trial, patients with relapsed or refractory Hodgkin lymphoma aged 18 years or older who had relapsed after at least one line of therapy, with an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 2 or lower, and adequate organ and marrow function, with no pulmonary dysfunction were eligible for inclusion.

Trioxane is a stable cyclic trimer of formaldehyde. It is an active ingredient in fuel bars for heating prepackaged foods by military and outdoorspeople. Trioxane depolymerizes to formaldehyde in an acidic environment and is further oxidized to formic acid, which causes neurologic and ocular damage.

Background: Patients undergoing liver transplantation (LT) frequently receive platelet transfusion (PLT) to minimize their risk of hemorrhage. Alloimmunization to platelets may lead to refractoriness to PLT. Data on the implications of platelet alloimmunization in patients undergoing LT remain limited.

Importance: The educational landscape is continually changing in response to legislation and the adoption of new standards, such as the Common Core. Currently, little is known about how these changes have influenced the school day.
Objective: To examine the motor and technology requirements of kindergarten, second-, and fourth-grade general education classrooms.

The reported influence of donor Killer-cell Immunoglobulin-like Receptor (KIR) genes on the outcomes of haematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) are contradictory, in part due to diversity of disease, donor sources, era and conditioning regimens within and between different studies. Here, we describe the results of a retrospective clinical analysis establishing the effect of donor KIR motifs on the outcomes of 119 HLA-matched, unrelated donor HCT for adult acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) using myeloablative conditioning (MAC) in a predominantly T-cell deplete (TCD) cohort. We observed that HCT involving donors with at least one KIR B haplotype were more likely to result in non-relapse mortality (NRM) than HCT involving donors with two KIR A haplotypes (p = 0.

The angiopoiein (Ang)-TIE2 system may play a role in tumor survival under VEGF inhibition. We conducted a phase 2, double-blinded, placebo-controlled trial of bevacizumab plus trebananib (a novel Fc fusion protein that sequesters Ang1/Ang2) over bevacizumab alone in rGBM.

Survivorship care and survivorship care plans have become integral components of comprehensive cancer care and national accreditation. An academic and community cancer network successfully pilot tested a new non-nursing role to support efficiency in case finding, staffing, and tracking patients throughout care delivery: the survivorship data coordinator (SDC). Key functions of the SDC role include abstracting data into survivorship care plans, scheduling survivorship visits, and tracking the number of completed survivorship care plans shared with patients.

Regarding temozolomide (TMZ), a prior study suggested men with a BSA >2 m may experience increased toxicity; however, surprisingly, the inverse observation was noted in women, ie, BSA <2 m was associated with higher toxicity. To further clarify this issue, data derived from a large clinical trial were analyzed.

Background: People with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) have reduced bone mineral density (BMD), but the causes are unclear. Some factors that may cause reduced BMD in PwMS have been understudied, including physical activity, inflammation, cortisol, symptomatic fatigue, and depression. The aim of this study was to investigate factors that may uniquely contribute to reduced BMD in PwMS as compared to people without MS.

The emergence of partial breast irradiation led to consideration of its application for reirradiation after a second lumpectomy for treatment of recurrence of breast cancer in the ipsilateral breast.
Objectives: To assess the effectiveness and adverse effects of partial breast reirradiation after a second lumpectomy and whether the treatment is an acceptable alternative to mastectomy.

Purpose: NRG Oncology's RTOG 0933 demonstrated benefits to memory preservation after hippocampal avoidant whole-brain radiation therapy (HA-WBRT), the avoidance of radiation dose to the hippocampus (using intensity modulated radiation planning and delivery techniques) during WBRT, supporting the hypothesis of hippocampal radiosensitivity and associated memory specificity. However, some patients demonstrated cognitive decline, suggesting mechanisms outside hippocampal radiosensitivity play a role. White matter injury (WMI) has been implicated in radiation therapy-induced neurocognitive decline.

Background: Excessive bleeding and surgical reexploration are common complications that increase the risk of multi-organ failure and prolonged hospitalization after cardiac surgery. Off-label use of recombinant activated factor VII (rFVIIa) is a recommended treatment for refractory bleeding.
Objective: The objective of the study is to determine if the adequacy of hemostatic resuscitation enhances the efficacy of rFVIIa.
