Background: Inflammation and neurohormonal activation play a significant role in the adverse outcome seen in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and the development of cardiogenic shock (CS), which is associated with a mortality rate up to 50%. Treatment with anti-inflammatory drugs such as tocilizumab, an interleukin-6 receptor antagonist, has been shown to reduce troponin release and reduce the myocardial infarct size in AMI patients and it may therefore have cardioprotective properties.
Methods: This is a double-blind, placebo-controlled, single-center randomized clinical trial, including adult AMI patients without CS at hospital arrival, undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) within 24 h from symptom onset, and at intermediate to high risk of developing CS (ORBI risk score ≥ 10).

Background: Currently, there are no reliable biomarkers for predicting treatment response in chronic inflammatory diseases (CIDs).
Objective: To determine whether serum microfibrillar-associated protein 4 (MFAP4) levels can predict the treatment response to biological therapy in patients with CIDs.
Methods: The BELIEVE study was originally designed as a prospective, multi-center cohort study of 233 patients with either rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, psoriasis, axial spondyloarthritis, Crohn's disease, or ulcerative colitis, initiating treatment with a biologic agent (or switching to another).

Cardiovascular clinical trials continue to under-represent children, older adults, females and people from ethnic minority groups relative to population disease distribution. Here we describe strategies to foster trial representativeness, with proposed actions at the levels of trial funding, design, conduct and dissemination. In particular, trial representativeness may be increased through broad recruitment strategies and site selection criteria that reflect the diversity of patients in the catchment area, as well as limiting unjustified exclusion criteria and using pragmatic designs that minimize research burden on patients (including embedded and decentralized trials).

It is not clear if fat oxidation is attenuated at higher exercise intensities, when exercising with a small muscle mass, and therefore, we studied leg fat oxidation during graded one-leg exercise. Ten males (age: 27 ± 2 years, body mass: 82 ± 3 kg, BMI: 24 ± 1 kg m, V̇O: 49 ± 2 mL min kg) performed one-leg exercise at 25% of maximal workload (W) for 30 min, followed by 120-min exercise at 55% W with the contralateral leg, and finally 30-min exercise at 85% W with the first leg. Blood was sampled from an artery and both femoral veins, and blood flow was determined using Doppler ultrasound.

There is a growing focus on person-centered care, emphasizing the importance of respecting inter-individual differences and implementing individualized treatment initiatives. Prior research has established an association between personality traits, body mass index, and health-related behaviors. The aim of this study was to explore the potential of personality trait assessments in identifying individuals at risk of glycemic dysregulation and increasing BMI.

Introduction: Patients with alcohol-related cirrhosis (ALD cirrhosis) have an increased risk of primary liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma [HCC] or intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma [iCCA]). England recommends surveillance for HCC in these patients, while Denmark does not.
Methods: We performed an observational cohort study using the English Clinical Practice Research Datalink and the nationwide Danish healthcare registries to identify 17,110 English (2000-2016) and 22,122 Danish (1994-2022) patients with diagnosis codes of ALD cirrhosis.

Since the 1960s, cardiologists have adopted several binary classification systems for acute myocardial infarction (MI) that facilitated improved patient management. Conversely, for chronic stable manifestations of myocardial ischemia, various classifications have emerged over time, often with conflicting terminology-eg, "stable coronary artery disease" (CAD), "stable ischemic heart disease," and "chronic coronary syndromes" (CCS). While the 2019 European guidelines introduced CCS to impart symmetry with "acute coronary syndromes" (ACS), the 2023 American guidelines endorsed the alternative term "chronic coronary disease.

Objective: This scoping review aims to identify and map interventions and/or strategies used to support the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding for women at risk of delaying initiation, early cessation, or not breastfeeding due to low levels of education, psychosocial problems, and/or socioeconomic challenges in high-income countries.
Introduction: While breastfeeding has lifelong beneficial health effects for women and infants, there is a risk of delaying initiation, early cessation, or not initiating breastfeeding at all due to factors related to health inequalities, such as low levels of education, psychosocial problems, and/or socioeconomic constraints.
Inclusion Criteria: This review will include eligible quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods studies, as well as systematic reviews and gray literature.

Cutaneous T-cell lymphoma is characterized by malignant T cells proliferating in a unique tumor microenvironment dominated by keratinocytes (KCs). Skin colonization and infection by Staphylococcus aureus are a common cause of morbidity and are suspected of fueling disease activity. In this study, we show that expression of HLA-DRs, high-affinity receptors for staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs), by KCs correlates with IFN-γ expression in the tumor microenvironment.

Background: Alcohol-related liver disease is a preventable disease with high mortality. If individuals with alcohol-related liver disease were to be diagnosed earlier by screening and they reduced their alcohol consumption, lives lost to alcohol-related liver disease might be saved. A liver stiffness measurement (FibroScan©) is a key tool to screen for alcohol-related liver disease in asymptomatic individuals.

Objectives: For over 30 years, quality improvement (QI) methods have been used as a means of increasing the quality and safety of healthcare services, but with mixed success. One explanation highlighted in the literature for this outcome is the overemphasis on technical elements of change, and a failure to fully appreciate the human side of change. Behavioral insights (BI) is an approach that utilizes knowledge and tools from a broad range of scientific disciplines, such as neuroscience and behavioral psychology, to support behavior change.

Introduction: The implementation of tobacco control policies has been a neglected topic in tobacco research. A comprehensive Tobacco Action Plan including plain packaging, a point-of-sale display ban, a ban on characterizing flavors (in products other than cigarettes), a strengthening of the promotion and marketing ban, a ban on the sale of novel nicotine products to minors, smoke-and nicotine-free-school hours in all-schools with minors, and a significant increase in tobacco tax, was adopted in Denmark in 2019.
Aims And Methods: Eleven people involved or very close to the advocacy process were invited, two did not respond and nine attended our research center.

• Using nationwide Danish health register data, associations between fluoroquinolone use and elevated hazard rates of Achilles tendon rupture were found. • Associations were most pronounced with increasing dosage and within 30 days following fluoroquinolone use. • Despite recent findings calling the previously suggested associations between fluoroquinolones and aortic and valvular diseases into question, advised caution in relation to tendinopathies still seems relevant.
