Food allergies are caused by severe hypersensitivity to specific food allergens such as the egg protein ovalbumin. It is therefore important to test food products for the presence of allergens to protect allergic people from accidental ingestion. Background: Several commercial and academic autologous chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) products targeting CD19 have been approved in Europe for relapsed/refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, high-grade B-cell lymphoma and mantle cell lymphoma. Products for other diseases such as multiple myeloma and follicular lymphoma are likely to be approved by the European Medicines Agency in the near future.
Design: The European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT)-Joint Accreditation Committee of ISCT and EBMT (JACIE) and the European Haematology Association collaborated to draft best practice recommendations based on the current literature to support health care professionals in delivering consistent, high-quality care in this rapidly moving field.

With an increased understanding of the role of microRNAs (miRNAs) in cancer evolution, there is a growing interest in the use of these non-coding nucleic acids in cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment monitoring. miRNAs embedded in extracellular vesicles (EVs) are of particular interest given that circulating EVs carry cargo that are strongly correlated to their cells of origin such as tumor cells while protecting them from degradation. Although the seroprevalence of Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) currently amounts to ∼ 67% worldwide, the annual incidence of a severe disease progression, particularly herpes encephalitis, is approximately 2-4 cases per 1,000,000 infections. Nucleoside analogues, such as acyclovir (ACV), valacyclovir (VACV) or famciclovir, are still the therapeutic treatment of choice for HSV infections. However, nucleoside drugs have limited efficacy against severe HSV disease and for treatment of nucleoside-resistant viral strains, alternative therapies such as helicase-primase inhibitors (HPIs) which are highly potent by inhibiting viral replication are under development.

Natural killer (NK) cells, members of the innate immune system, play an important role in the rejection of HLA class I negative tumor cells. Hence, a therapeutic vaccine, which can activate NK cells in addition to cells of the adaptive immune system might induce a more comprehensive cellular response, which could lead to increased tumor elimination. Dendritic cells (DCs) are capable of activating and expanding NK cells, especially when the NFκB pathway is activated in the DCs thereby leading to the secretion of the cytokine IL-12.

The present study evaluated the prophylactic effect of a diosmectite (FI5pp) on the clinical course, colon damage, expression of tight junction (TJ) proteins and the composition of the gut microbiota in dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) colitis. Although incorporation of photo-activatable lipids into membranes potentially opens up novel avenues for investigating interactions with proteins, the question of whether diazirine-modified lipids are suitable for such studies, remains under debate. Focusing on the potential for studying lipid/peptide interactions by cross-linking mass spectrometry (XL-MS), we developed a diazirine-modified lipid (DiazPC), and examined its behaviour in membranes incorporating the model α-helical peptide LAVA20. TRIANNI mice carry an entire set of human immunoglobulin V region gene segments and are a powerful tool to rapidly isolate human monoclonal antibodies. After immunizing these mice with DNA encoding the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 and boosting with spike protein, we identified 29 hybridoma antibodies that reacted with the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. Nine antibodies neutralize SARS-CoV-2 infection at IC50 values in the subnanomolar range.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to prospectively compare the MIFAP protocol, which had been shown to be effective in patients with relapsed and refractory Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) or aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL), to an established regimen like Dexa-BEAM.
Methods: Seventy-three adult patients with HL (N = 25) or aggressive NHL (N = 48) suffering from relapse or refractory disease were randomly allocated to receive two cycles of Dexa-BEAM (dexamethasone, carmustine, etoposide, cytarabine, melphalan; N = 37) or MIFAP (mitoxantrone, fludarabine, cytarabine, cisplatin; N = 36) prior to a consolidating high-dose therapy and hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). Primary endpoint was the overall response rate (ORR) [complete response (CR) and partial response (PR)] after two courses of salvage chemotherapy.
