The goal was to assess the impact of MRPL23 expression on tumor behavior, progression, and patient outcomes.
Methods: Using immunohistochemistry (IHC), MRPL23 protein expression was analyzed in 99 cases of ccRCC and 30 adjacent non-tumorous tissues.

The spindle and kinetochore-associated complex subunit 3 (SKA3) is a protein essential for proper chromosome segregation during mitosis and thus responsible for maintaining genome stability. Although its involvement in the pathogenesis of various cancer types has been reported, the potential clinicopathological significance of SKA3 in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has not been fully elucidated. Accurately defining glioma infiltration is crucial for optimizing radiotherapy and surgery, but glioma infiltration is heterogeneous and MRI imperfectly defines the tumor extent. Currently, it is impossible to determine the tumor infiltration gradient within a FLAIR signal. O-(2-[18F]fluoroethyl)-L-tyrosine (FET)-PET often reveals high-grade glioma infiltration beyond contrast-enhancing areas on MRI.

We examined the influence of self-reported occupational-related physical activity (PA) and leisure-time physical exercise (PE) on orthostatic response in a sample of older people over a 2 year period. Accurate determination of the extent and grade of adult-type diffuse gliomas is critical to patient management. In clinical practice, contrast-enhancing areas of diffuse gliomas in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequences are usually used to target biopsy, surgery, and radiation therapy, but there can be discrepancies between these areas and the actual tumor extent. Here we show that adding F-fluoro-ethyl-tyrosine positron emission tomography (FET-PET) to MRI sequences accurately locates the most malignant areas of contrast-enhancing gliomas, potentially impacting subsequent management and outcomes.

The aim of this study was to compare the pre- and postoperative function of patients qualifying for resection of malignant and nonmalignant primary brain tumors to determine the relationship among tumor type, function, and the course of rehabilitation after surgery. This single-center, prospective, observational study recruited 92 patients requiring prolonged postoperative rehabilitation during their inpatient stay, who were divided into a nonmalignant tumor group ( = 66) and a malignant tumor group ( = 26). Functional status and gait efficiency were assessed using a battery of instruments.

Background: The efficacy and safety of treatment with cabozantinib in combination with nivolumab and ipilimumab in patients with previously untreated advanced renal-cell carcinoma are unknown.
Methods: In this phase 3, double-blind trial, we enrolled patients with advanced clear-cell renal-cell carcinoma who had not previously received treatment and had intermediate or poor prognostic risk according to the International Metastatic Renal-Cell Carcinoma Database Consortium categories. Patients were randomly assigned to receive 40 mg of cabozantinib daily in addition to nivolumab and ipilimumab (experimental group) or matched placebo in addition to nivolumab and ipilimumab (control group).

Thermostimulated luminescence (TSL) dosimetry is a versatile tool for the assessment of dose from ionizing radiation. In this work, the Ce doped YAlO garnet (YAG:Ce) with a density ρ = 4.56 g/cm and effective atomic number Z = 35 emerged as a prospective TSL material in radiotherapy applications due to its excellent radiation stability, uniformity of structural and optical properties, high yield of TSL, and good position of main glow peak around 290-300 °C.

Objectives: To evaluate the incidence of HPV infection, and the frequency of the various genotypes, using mRNA and DNA testing; to assess their relationship with the cervical lesions and women's age in the Polish patients.
Study Design: A group of 1840 women, most of whom had abnormal cytology, from the Franciszek Łukaszczyk Oncology Centre in Bydgoszcz, Poland were screened for presence of at least one of 13 high risk HPV. Following that, 545 HPV DNA positive women were tested for HPV infection using HPV mRNA with the Nucleic Acid Sequence-Based Amplification Assay (NASBA) method.

Stereotactic biopsy of posterior fossa lesions is often regarded as hazardous due to the critical structures in that area. Therefore, the aim of the study was to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and safety of infratentorial stereotactic biopsy of brainstem or cerebellar lesions and its associations with other clinical, laboratory, and radiological parameters. From January 2000 to May 2021, 190 infratentorial stereotactic biopsies of posterior fossa tumors, including 108 biopsies of brainstem lesions, were performed.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to evaluate posture in patients undergoing breast-conserving therapy (BCT) in relation to the type of surgical intervention to the axilla.
Methods: The study was conducted on patients who had undergone breast-conserving surgical treatment for breast cancer 5-6 years earlier. In 54 patients, BCT+ALND (axillary lymph node dissection) was performed, while 63 patients were subjected to BCT+SLND (sentinel lymph node dissection).
