Optical vortex beams carrying orbit angular momentum have attracted significant attention recently. Perfect vortex beams, characterized by their topological charge-independent intensity profile, have important applications in enhancing communication capacity and optimizing particle manipulation. In this paper, metal-insulator-metal copper-coin type reflective metasurfaces are proposed to generate perfect composite vortex beams in X-band.

Agricultural drought (AD) is the main environmental factor affecting vegetation productivity (VP) in the Yellow River Basin (YRB). In recent years, the nonlinear effects of AD on VP in the YRB have attracted much attention. However, it is still unclear whether fluctuating AD will have complex nonlinear effects on VP in the YRB, and there are scant previous studies at large scale on whether there is a threshold for nonlinear effects of AD on VP in the YRB.

In the context of climate change, it is crucial to examine the contributions of leading countries in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This research provides an overview of global GHG emissions from 1970 to 2022 for the world's most polluting countries: the United States, China, India, Russia, Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, Iran, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia. These countries collectively account for approximately 64% of GHG emissions.

The interface between the electrochromic (EC) electrode and ionic conductor is crucial for high-performance and extraordinarily stable EC devices (ECDs). Herein, the effect of the ALD-AZO interfacial layer on the performance of the WO thin film was examined, revealing that an introduction of the ALD-AZO interfacial layer to the Al-based complementary ECDs can lead to improved EC performance and stability, such as an extraordinary cyclability of more than 20,000 cycles, an outstanding coloration efficiency of 109.69 cm C, and a maximum transmittance modulation of 63.

Homogeneous and Nanogranular Prussian Blue to Enable Long-Term-Stable Electrochromic Devices.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

April 2024

Laboratory of Advanced Nano Materials and Devices, Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ningbo 315201, PR China.

The increasing demand for the state-of-the-art electrochromic devices has received great interest in synthesizing Prussian blue (PB) nanoparticles with a uniform diameter that exhibit excellent electrochromism, electrochemistry, and cyclability. Herein, we report the controllable synthesis of sub-100 nm PB nanoparticles via the coprecipitation method. The diameter of PB nanoparticles can be modulated by adjusting the reactant concentration, the selection of a chelator, and their purification.

The metallo-supramolecular polymer (MSP) is considered one of the most promising electrodes for electrochromic devices due to its intrinsically stable redox properties. Nevertheless, despite extensive work focusing on improving the electrochromic and electrochemical properties of MSPs, little experimental evidence exists from in-depth investigations on the anion-induced electrochromism of MSPs. Herein, Ru-based metallo-supramolecular polymer (polyRu) films with excellent electrochromic performance were fabricated through a novel electrochemical deposition method, and the electrochromic mechanism was further understood.

The eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on the island of La Palma (Canary Islands, Spain) began on September 19, 2021 and ended on December 13, 2021. It lasted continuously for 85 days with short periods of calm when lava did not exit the cone of the volcano. Vast amounts of volcanic material, including ash and gases, were emitted into the environment.

Biotin film was prepared by low-energy electron beam deposition (LEBD). The molecular structure, chemical composition and micromorphology of the biotin film were investigated by HNMR, FTIR, XPS, AFM and SEM. The results showed the molecular structure of a monolayer of biotin film is fully consistent with the molecular structure of the initial biotin powders.

Biotin is one of the water-soluble B-complex group of vitamins. Recent studies have found that the relative protein expression of BMP2, BSP and OPG in MC3T3-E1 cells is prominent after 14 days of co-culture with biotin film, especially for BMP2. It is also found that the rapid degradation of biotin film in vivo limits its application value.

Department of Biological, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies-STEBICEF, University of Palermo, Viale delle Scienze Ed. 17, I-90128 Palermo, Italy.

The iconographic heritage is one of the treasures of Byzantine art that have enriched the south of Italy, and Sicily in particular, since the early 16th century. In this work, the investigations of a Sicilian Icon of Greek-Byzantine origin, the , is reported for the first time. The study was carried out using mainly non-invasive imaging techniques (photography in reflectance and grazing visible light, UV fluorescence, infrared reflectography, radiography, and computed tomography) and spectroscopic techniques (X-ray fluorescence and infrared spectroscopy).

Pure BiFeO (BFO) and doped BiLaFeO (BLFO) thin films were prepared on Pt/TiO/SiO/Si substrates by a modified sol-gel technique using a separate hydrolysis procedure. The effects of final crystallization temperature and La doping on the phase structure, film morphology, and nanoscale piezoelectric properties were investigated. La doping and higher crystallization temperature lead to an increase in the grain size and preferred (102) texture of the films.

This study was carried out in the forest area of the Gomel region of Belarus contaminated by Cs following the Chernobyl accident of 1986. The aim of the study was to explore the effects of different types of wildfires on the biological availability of radionuclides and the distribution of algal communities in fire-affected soils. Soil samples were collected in 2017 and 2018 from sites burnt by surface and crown fires, and from two unburnt reference locations.

Herein we report on the synthesis and the effects of gradual loading of TiO nanotube array layers with ZnO upon surface wettability. Two-step preparation was chosen, where TiO nanotube layers, grown in a first instance by anodization of a Ti foil, were gradually loaded with controlled amounts of ZnO using the reactive RF magnetron sputtering. After crystallization annealing, the formerly amorphous TiO nanotubes were converted to predominantly anatase crystalline phase, as detected by XRD measurements.

In this paper, we propose a tunable coordinated multi-band absorber that combines graphene with metal-dielectric-metal structures for the realization of multiple toward perfect absorption. The parametric inversion method is used to extract the equivalent impedance and explain the phenomena of multiple-peak absorption. With the change of the Fermi level, equivalent impedances were extracted, and the peculiarities of the individual multiple absorption peaks to change were determined.

Functional metamirrors using bianisotropic elements.

Phys Rev Lett

Department of Radio Science and Engineering, Aalto University, P.O. Box 13000, FI-00076 Aalto, Finland.

Conventional mirrors obey the simple reflection law that a plane wave is reflected as a plane wave, at the same angle. To engineer spatial distributions of fields reflected from a mirror, one can either shape the reflector or position some phase-correcting elements on top of a mirror surface. Here we show, both theoretically and experimentally, that full-power reflection with general control over the reflected wave phase is possible with a single-layer array of deeply subwavelength inclusions.
