Aims: Heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is associated with cardiovascular (CV) and non-CV events, but long-term risk is poorly studied. We assessed incidence and predictors of the long-term CV and non-CV events.

The assembly is triggered by a binding protein that staples two identical protein bricks together in a predictable spatial conformation. Low-Energy Collisions of Zeeman-Decelerated NH Radicals with He Atoms.

We report an experimental study of state-to-state inelastic scattering of NH (X Σ, = 0, = 1) radicals with He atoms. Using a crossed molecular beam apparatus that combines a Zeeman decelerator and velocity map imaging, we study both integral and differential cross sections in the = 0, = 1 → = 2, = 3 inelastic channel. We developed various new REMPI schemes to state-selectively detect NH radicals, and tested their performance in terms of sensitivity and ion recoil velocity.

The fine structure of heparan sulfate (HS), the glycosaminoglycan polysaccharide component of cell surface and extracellular matrix HS proteoglycans, coordinates the complex cell signalling processes that control homeostasis and drive development in multicellular animals. In addition, HS is involved in the infection of mammals by viruses, bacteria and parasites. The current detection limit for fluorescently labelled HS disaccharides (low femtomole; 10 mol), has effectively hampered investigations of HS composition in small, functionally-relevant populations of cells and tissues that may illuminate the structural requirements for infection and other biochemical processes.

The objective of this study is to review the tolerance profile and the French legislative status of the two main cannabinoids used for therapeutic purposes: tetrahydrocannabiol (THC) associated with psychoactive effects and non-psychoactive cannabidiol (CBD).

Methods: This review is based on relevant articles retrieved by a search in Google Scholar and PubMed databases and on an assessment of the legal texts and summaries of product characteristics available in France.

Fumarate hydratase deficient renal cell carcinoma (FH-RCC) is a rare malignant neoplasia caused by constitutive or somatic mutations in the FH gene whose diagnosis is primordial, requiring genetic counselling. Because of histological heterogeneity, such tumors have been in the past misclassified as "type 2 papillary carcinoma", "tubulo-cystic renal cell carcinoma" or "high grade papillary carcinoma". We report here a case of FH deficient renal cell carcinoma (FH-RCC) in a 69years old patient.

Exploring magnetic properties at the molecular level is a challenge that has been met by developing many experimental and theoretical solutions, such as polarized neutron diffraction (PND), muon-spin rotation (μ-SR), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), SQUID-based magnetometry measurements, and advanced modeling on open-shell systems and relativistic calculations. These methods are powerful tools that shed light on the local magnetic response in specifically designed magnetic materials such as contrast agents, for MRI, molecular magnets, magnetic tags for biological NMR, etc. All of these methods have their advantages and disadvantages.

Melanoma is a highly aggressive cancer endowed with a unique capacity of rapidly metastasizing, which is fundamentally driven by aberrant cell motility behaviors. Discovering "migrastatics" targets, specifically controlling invasion and dissemination of melanoma cells during metastasis, is therefore of primary importance. Here, we uncover the prominent expression of the plasma membrane TRPV2 calcium channel as a distinctive feature of melanoma tumors, directly related to melanoma metastatic dissemination.

Two new macrocycles containing the bis(1,2,3-triazolyl)pyridine () motif were prepared in high yields from a diazide precursor (1). Solution H NMR studies show that this diazide undergoes self-assembly with divalent transition metal ions to form ML complexes with pendant azide groups, apparently suitable for conversion into metal-templated catenanes; however attempts to form these catenanes were unsuccessful. Instead a new macrocycle containing two motifs was prepared, which forms a nanotube structure in the solid state.

Upscaling Mixing-Controlled Reactions in Unsaturated Porous Media.

We study mixing-controlled chemical reactions in unsaturated porous media from a pore-scale perspective. The spatial heterogeneity induced by the presence of two immiscible phases, here water and air, in the pore space generates complex flow patterns that dominate reactive mixing across scales. To assess the impact of different macroscopic saturation states (the fraction of pore volume occupied by water) on mixing-controlled chemical reactions, we consider a fast irreversible reaction between two initially segregated dissolved species that mix as one solution displaces the other in the heterogeneous flow field of the water phase.

We investigate how diffusion-limited mixing of a layered solute concentration distribution within a porous medium impacts bulk electrical conductivity. To do so, we perform a milli-fluidic tracer test by injecting a fluorescent and electrically conductive tracer in a quasi two-dimensional (2D) water-saturated porous medium. High resolution optical- and geoelectrical monitoring of the tracer is achieved by using a fluorimetry technique and equipping the flow cell with a resistivity meter, respectively.

The coprophilous ascomycete is known to have a high potential to synthesize a wide array of secondary metabolites (SMs). However, to date, the characterization of SMs in this species, as in other filamentous fungal species, is far less than expected by the functional prediction through genome mining, likely due to the inactivity of most SMs biosynthesis gene clusters (BGCs) under standard conditions. In this work, our main objective was to compare the global strategies usually used to deregulate SM gene clusters in , including the variation of culture conditions and the modification of the chromatin state either by genetic manipulation or by chemical treatment, and to show the complementarity of the approaches between them.
