Our study explores the complex dynamics of the integrated stress response (ISR) axis, highlighting PIM2 kinase's critical role and its interaction with the BCL2 protein family, uncovering key mechanisms of cell survival and tumor progression. Elevated PIM2 expression, a marker of various cancers, often correlates with disease aggressiveness. Using a model of normal and malignant plasma cells, we show that inhibiting PIM2 kinase inhibits phosphorylated BAD production and activates ISR-mediated NOXA expression.

The 2030 French Innovation Healthcare national plan defined "Digital Healthcare" as one of its priority. The deployment of digital pathology and artificial intelligence fits perfectly into this framework. Therefore we evaluated the pathologist's interest in those fields by conducting an online survey among members of the French Society of Pathology, mainly composed of senior pathologists and trainees (n=2301).

Background: Assessing farm animals' welfare is crucial, yet practical physiological tools are still lacking. In this study, we tested whether the peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) transcriptome shows variations in association with sows' welfare. To do this, we compared animals whose welfare states were assumed to differ due to their lives in more or less enriched environments and to their different dominance statuses.

Broparestrol has been used as a drug to treat acne in the form of a mixture of its two stereoisomers. Although it has been withdrawn from the market, the binary system is rich in polymorphism and understanding the phase behaviour of the binary system involving the E- and Z-isomers is challenging. Physical mixtures do not immediately give rise to equilibrium phase behaviour, whereas recrystallization often leads to metastable phases and the appearance of stable phases can take years.

Despite the challenges associated with periprocedural imaging, transcatheter tricuspid valve interventions have shown important impact on outcomes. A comprehensive understanding of the anatomy of the right heart and surrounding structures is crucial. One way to optimize these interventions is by identifying the optimal fluoroscopic viewing angles along the S-curve of the tricuspid valve.

Biological invasions pose a global challenge, affecting ecosystems worldwide and human societies. Knowledge of the evolutionary history of invasive species is critical to understanding their current invasion success and projecting their future spread. However, to date, few studies have addressed the evolutionary history and potential future spread of invaders simultaneously.

Farnesoid X receptor α (FXRα, NR1H4) is a bile acid-activated nuclear receptor that regulates the expression of glycolytic and lipogenic target genes by interacting with the 9-cis-retinoic acid receptor α (RXRα, NR2B1). Along with cofactors, the FXRα proteins reported thus far in humans and rodents have been observed to regulate both isoform (α1-4)- and tissue-specific gene expression profiles to integrate energy balance and metabolism. Here, we studied the biological functions of an FXRα naturally occurring spliced exon 5 isoform (FXRαse5) lacking the second zinc-binding module of the DNA-binding domain.

Background: It is unknown which maintenance therapy is the most effective option for patients admitted for an acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC) episode responding to intravenous steroids.
Methods: We conducted a multicentre, parallel-group, open-label randomised controlled trial among 23 French centres in thiopurine and biologics-naïve adults admitted for ASUC responding to intravenous steroids. Eligible patients were randomly assigned to receive infliximab (IFX) and azathioprine (AZA) with a 7-day steroid tapering scheme (IFX+AZA arm) or AZA and conventional standardised steroid tapering regimen (AZA arm).

Objective: Transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) enables non-invasive modulation of brain activity, holding promise for clinical and research applications. Yet, it remains unclear how the stimulation frequency differentially impacts various neuron types. Here, we aimed to quantify the frequency-dependent behavior of key neocortical cell types.

Context: Poor medication management can lead to adverse outcomes for transplant patients, including acute rejection and graft loss. In recent years, mobile applications have been proposed as innovative tools to improve patient treatment management.
Objective: This review aimed to systematically evaluate the available research evidence on the relationship between mobile applications and treatment management in transplant patients.

People with mental health problems have a worse oral health condition than the general population. As part of a qualitative study using semi-directive interviews aimed at analyzing the perceptions of professionals working in medical-psychological centers regarding the difficulties encountered by their patients in accessing dental care, three obstacles were identified: factors intrinsic to the patient, background in prevention and the organization of the healthcare system.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate a new measurement tool for the preoperative computed tomography (CT) scan to estimate the endograft apposition surface on the proximal aortic neck of the aneurysm that would predict the risk of late type IA endoleak (EL1A).
Methods: From databases of 4 high-volume centers between 2004 and 2020, all patients who underwent Endovascular Aneuruysm Repair (EVAR) with the possibility of analyzing pre and post-EVAR scans and who presented late (>2 years) EL1A in follow-up were included retrospectively (EL1A group). A control group of randomly selected EL1A-free patients were included (control group) and followed-up beyond 4 years.

Background And Aims: There is ongoing debate about whether offspring perform best next to phylogenetically distantly related adult neighbours (due to the scarcity of enemies and competitors) or next to closely related adults (due to the abundance of mutualists). Here we hypothesise that relatedness of adult neighbours affects which traits confer performance rather than performance itself.
Methods: We studied seed removal, seed germination and sapling growth in Sessile Oaks (Quercus petraea and hybrids), and how they depend on size, shape and other traits, under both closely and distantly related canopies, manipulating offspring-density, presence of insects, and fungi, and spatial proximity to oaks.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a devastating lung disease with limited therapeutic options. Fibroblast growth factor receptor-4 (FGFR4) is a known receptor for several paracrine fibroblast growth factors (FGFs). FGFR4 is also the main receptor for FGF19, an endocrine FGF that was demonstrated by our group to have antifibrotic properties in the lung.

Objectives: Although influenza and COVID vaccines are recommended for healthcare workers (HCWs), vaccine coverage is sub-optimal for influenza in this population, and the situation did not improve during the COVID pandemic. We aimed to estimate influenza and COVID vaccine coverage among HCWs and their determinants after the COVID pandemic.
Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study between May and July 2023 among HCWs to estimate influenza and COVID vaccination coverage during the 2022-2023 season, and its determinants, using a web-based anonymous questionnaire.

Background: Post-intensive care syndrome could be responsible for inability to receive proper cancer treatment after ICU stay in patients with solid tumors (ST). Our purpose was to determine the factors associated with cancer treatment resumption and the impact of cancer treatment on the outcome of patients with ST after ICU stay.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study including all patients with ST admitted to the ICU between 2014 and 2019 in a French University-affiliated Hospital.

The most common and efficient iron supply to prevent neonatal anaemia in piglets is the injection of iron dextran or gleptoferron. This treatment is problematic in organic farms because organic specifications strictly limit the use of chemically synthesised allopathic drugs. Based on the observation that piglets raised outdoors rarely develop anaemia, we hypothesised that piglets satisfy their iron needs by ingesting soil from their environment.

Background And Aims: Severe tricuspid regurgitation is associated with increased mortality rates, but benefit of its correction and ideal timing are not clearly determined. This study aimed to identify patient subsets who might benefit from the surgery.
Methods: In TRIGISTRY, an international cohort study of consecutive patients with severe isolated functional tricuspid regurgitation (33 centres, 10 countries), survival rates up to 10 years were compared between patients who underwent isolated tricuspid valve surgery (repair or replacement) and those conservatively managed, overall and according to TRI-SCORE category (low: ≤3, intermediate: 4-5, and high: ≥6).
