Background: It is well known that laparoscopic liver surgery can offer advantages over open liver surgery in selected patients. However, what type of procedures can benefit most from a laparoscopic approach has been investigated poorly thus far. The aim of this study is thus to define the extent of advantages of laparoscopic over open liver surgery for lesions in the anterolateral (AL) and posterosuperior (PS) segments.

Aim: To determine the effectiveness of functional stress testing and computed tomography angiography (CTA) for diagnosis of obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD).
Methods And Results: Two-thousand nine-hundred twenty symptomatic stable chest pain patients were included in the international Collaborative Meta-Analysis of Cardiac CT consortium to compare CTA with exercise electrocardiography (exercise-ECG) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) for diagnosis of CAD defined as ≥ 50% diameter stenosis by invasive coronary angiography (ICA) as reference standard. Generalised linear mixed models were used for calculating the diagnostic accuracy of each diagnostic test including non-diagnostic results as dependent variables in a logistic regression model with random intercepts and slopes.

Background And Objectives: Immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy (IMNM) caused by antibodies against 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR) is an inflammatory myopathy that has been epidemiologically correlated with previous statin exposure. We characterized in detail a series of 11 young statin-naïve patients experiencing a chronic disease course mimicking a limb-girdle muscular dystrophy. With the hypothesis that HMGCR upregulation may increase immunogenicity and trigger the production of autoantibodies, our aim was to expand pathophysiologic knowledge of this distinct phenotype.

Recent research has suggested a link between multiple sclerosis and the gut microbiota. This prospective pilot study aimed to investigate the composition of the gut microbiota in MS patients, the presence of epsilon toxin in the serum of MS patients, and the influence of disease-modifying drugs (DMDs) on epsilon toxin levels and on the microbiota. Epsilon toxin levels in blood were investigated by two methods, a qualitative ELISA and a highly sensitive quantitative ELISA.

To evaluate the outcomes of arthroscopic treatment of rotator cuff tear (RCT) in individuals under 45 years, focusing on their ability to return to sports (RTS) and work, along with different patient-reported outcomes (PROMs). Adhering to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 guidelines, this systematic review encompassed articles that studied the outcomes of arthroscopic treatment of RCT in the young population (those under 45 years old). The literature search was conducted in PubMed/Medline and EMBASE until 21 May 2024.

Introduction: We investigated the effect of perivascular spaces (PVS) volume on speeded executive function (sEF), as mediated by white matter hyperintensities (WMH) volume and plasma glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in neurodegenerative diseases.
Methods: A mediation analysis was performed to assess the relationship between neuroimaging markers and plasma biomarkers on sEF in 333 participants clinically diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease/mild cognitive impairment, frontotemporal dementia, or cerebrovascular disease from the Ontario Neurodegenerative Disease Research Initiative.
Results: PVS was significantly associated with sEF (c = -0.

Resistance against amitraz in mite populations has become a subject of interest in recent years due to the increasing reports of the reduced field efficacy of amitraz treatments, especially from some beekeepers in France and the United States. The loss of amitraz as a reliable tool to effectively reduce mite infestation in the field could severely worsen the position of beekeepers in the fight to keep infestation rates in their colonies at low levels. In this publication, we present data from French apiaries, collected in the years 2020 and 2021.

Recently, polysaccharide-based hydrogels crosslinked with the trivalent iron cation have attracted interest due to their remarkable properties that include high mechanical stability, stimuli-responsiveness, and enhanced absorptivity. In this study, a Fe crosslinked hydrogel was prepared using the biocompatible extracellular polysaccharide (EPS) secreted by the marine bacterium Alteromonas macleodii Mo169. Hydrogels with mechanical strengths (G') ranging from 0.

Objectives: The objectives were to explore rheumatologists' current clinical screening practices of pulmonary arterial hypertension in patients with systemic sclerosis in the United Kingdom and to identify barriers to screening and consider potential solutions.
Methods: A survey of 31 questions was developed and included six sections: clinician demographics, the importance of screening, screening practices, barriers to screening, treatment and patient education. The survey was disseminated among rheumatologists working in the United Kingdom.

Background: The 5-year results of this trial showed that adjuvant therapy with dabrafenib plus trametinib resulted in longer relapse-free survival and distant metastasis-free survival than placebo among patients with V600-mutated stage III melanoma. Longer-term data were needed, including data regarding overall survival.
Methods: We randomly assigned 870 patients with resected stage III melanoma with V600 mutations to receive 12 months of dabrafenib (150 mg twice daily) plus trametinib (2 mg once daily) or two matched placebos.

Despite global efforts to harmonize international trade statistics, our understanding of digital trade and its implications remains limited. Here, we introduce a method to estimate bilateral exports and imports for dozens of sectors starting from the corporate revenue data of large digital firms. This method allows us to provide estimates for digitally ordered and delivered trade involving digital goods (e.
