Background & Aims: Owing to unexplained interpatient variation and treatment failure in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), novel therapeutic approaches remain an urgent clinical need. Hepatic neurons, belonging to the autonomic nervous system (ANS), mediate liver/whole body crosstalk. Pathological innervation of the ANS has been identified in cancer, nurturing tumor stroma and conferring stronger carcinogenic properties.

The concept of treating diabetes with gut hormones was proposed in the early days of endocrinology (1902), but was not put into practice until the early 2000s. The discovery of the incretin effect (potentiation of insulin secretion when glucose is taken orally compared to intravenously) led to the discovery of the two main gut hormones responsible for this effect: GIP and GLP-1. The reduction of the incretin effect is directly involved in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes, which has led to the development of a series of innovative therapies such as GLP-1 analogues, GLP-1 receptor agonists, GIP/GLP-1 co-agonists and GIP/GLP-1/glucagon tri-agonists.

During meiosis, programmed DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) are formed by the topoisomerase-like enzyme, Spo11, activating the DNA damage response (DDR) kinase Mec1ATR via the checkpoint clamp loader, Rad24RAD17. At single loci, loss of Mec1 and Rad24 activity alters DSB formation and recombination outcome, but their genome-wide roles have not been examined in detail. Here, we utilise two strategies-deletion of the mismatch repair protein, Msh2, and control of meiotic prophase length via regulation of the Ndt80 transcription factor-to help characterise the roles Mec1 and Rad24 play in meiotic recombination by enabling genome-wide mapping of meiotic progeny.

Bacterial swarming is a complex phenomenon in which thousands of self-propelled rod-shaped cells move coherently on surfaces, providing an excellent example of active matter. However, bacterial swarming is different from most studied examples of active systems because single isolated cells do not move, while clusters do. The biophysical aspects underlying this behavior are unclear.

Research Question: To determine whether the use of oral dydrogesterone (DYD) in luteal phase support (LPS) during an artificial cycle provides equivalent clinical and ongoing pregnancy, delivery and miscarriage rates as micronized vaginal progesterone (MVP) in oocyte donation recipients.
Design: This was a retrospective observational study of prospectively collected data from the assisted reproductive technology (ART) Department of Lille University Hospital from July 2018 to July 2022. All recipients underwent endometrial preparation by an artificial cycle.

Rationale: Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is a lethal disease with limited therapeutic options. FGF21, an endocrine fibroblast growth factor that acts through the FGFR1/KLB pathway, mitigates liver fibrosis.
Objectives: We hypothesized that FGF21 could exert anti-fibrotic properties in the lung.

The microtubule cytoskeleton is a major driving force of neuronal circuit development. Fine-tuned remodelling of this network by selective activation of microtubule-regulating proteins, including microtubule-severing enzymes, has emerged as a central process in neuronal wiring. Tubulin posttranslational modifications control both microtubule properties and the activities of their interacting proteins.

Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) Clinical Practice Guidelines (2012) are predominantly based on expert opinion due to limited available evidence at the time, leaving room for interpretation and variation in practices. Evidence on the natural course of MEN1-related neuroendocrine tumours (NET) and the value of screening programs has increased and new imaging techniques have emerged. The aim of this study is to provide insight in the current practices of screening and surveillance for MEN1-related NETs in ENETS Centers of Excellence (CoEs).

Purpose: To demonstrate the feasibility of hepatic 3D MR elastography (MRE) at 0.55 T in healthy volunteers using Hadamard encoding and to study the effects of concomitant fields in the domain of MRE in general.
Methods: Concomitant field effects in MRE are assessed using a Taylor series expansion and an encoding scheme is proposed to study the corresponding effects on 3D MRE at 0.

Purpose: CTLA4 deficiency is an inborn error of immunity (IEI) due to heterozygosity for germline loss-of-function variants of the CTLA4 gene located on chromosome 2q33.2. CTLA4 deficiency underlies pleiotropic immune and lymphoproliferation-mediated features with incomplete penetrance.

Objectives: Viscosupplementation with hyaluronic acid (HA) is a commonly used intra-articular treatment for osteoarthritis (OA). We performed a Delphi consensus process to formulate guidelines for the use of intra-articular hyaluronic acid (IAHA) knee injection according to the patient's characteristics.
Methods: The EUROVISCO group consists of 12 members who had expertise in clinical and/or research in the field of OA and IAHA treatment.

Oncocytic adenocarcinoma (OC) of the salivary glands is a rare and controversial entity. It was recently reclassified as "salivary carcinoma NOS and emerging entities" in the 2022 WHO classification of head and neck tumors. The lack of specific molecular alterations and its potential affiliation with other salivary gland carcinomas, such as the oncocytic mucoepidermoid carcinomas (OMEC) or the oncocytic subtype of salivary duct carcinomas (OSDC) justified this reclassification.

In pediatric thoracic surgery, reported predictors for increased risk are symptoms and active/previous infections (RAP). We investigated the adverse events related to Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) in pediatric patients when considering RAP predictors. A retrospective analysis of pediatric VATS major lung resections in 2008-2021 was conducted at three institutions.

In the last decade, the evolution of oncofertility has sparked a resurgence of interest in in vitro maturation (IVM) due to its suitability in certain oncological scenarios where controlled ovarian hyperstimulation may not be feasible. The retrieval of immature cumulus-oocyte complexes from small antral follicles, regardless of the menstrual cycle phase, presents a swift opportunity to vitrify mature oocytes or embryos post-IVM in urgent situations or when stimulation is not advisable. Harvesting immature cumulus-oocyte complexes and immature oocytes can be achieved transvaginally or directly in the laboratory from extracorporeal ovarian tissue.

Introduction: Despite improvements in long-term asthma treatment, an increasing number of children are being hospitalized in pediatric intensive care units (PICU) for asthma. The main objective of this study was to describe a recent cohort of children hospitalized in PICU for asthma to identify risk factors associated with a need for respiratory support, and multiple PICU stays.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study in three PICUs in Paris (intensive care units 3A Study), using medical files of children hospitalized for asthma between February 2019 and October 2020.

Background: Suboptimal use of antimicrobials is a driver of antimicrobial resistance in West Africa. Clinical decision support systems (CDSSs) can facilitate access to updated and reliable recommendations.
Objective: This study aimed to assess contextual factors that could facilitate the implementation of a CDSS for antimicrobial prescribing in West Africa and Central Africa and to identify tailored implementation strategies.

Drosophila glue, a bioadhesive produced by fly larvae to attach themselves to a substrate for several days, has recently gained attention for its peculiar adhesive and mechanical properties. Although Drosophila glue production was described more than 50 years ago, a general survey of the adhesive and mechanical properties of this proteinaceous gel across Drosophila species is lacking. To measure adhesion, we present here a protocol that is robust to variations in protocol parameters, pupal age and calculation methods.
