How to talk to parents.

Effective communication with the child and his/her parents is of paramount importance in our daily work in paediatric radiology to establish a trusting relationship and enhance satisfaction for both patients and physicians. Although communication skills and empathy can be effectively taught, and efforts have been made in this area in medical schools, there is still much room for improvement, as communication skills tend to decline throughout medical training. Certain methods are valuable for conducting effective consultations with both the child and the parents, not only when breaking bad news.

Development and Testing of an Objective Structured Clinical Examination for Evaluating Nurses in Infusion Therapy.

This study aimed to develop, assess, and test an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) to evaluate nurses' competency in planning and managing infusion therapy. The study adopted a methodological approach with a quantitative design and was conducted from December 2020 to August 2021 at a university hospital in São Paulo, Brazil. Data collection occurred in 3 stages: development of scenarios and assessment checklists, evaluation of expert consensus, and testing scenarios with the target audience.

Fluid-structure-growth modeling in ascending aortic aneurysm: capability to reproduce a patient case.

Predicting the evolution of ascending aortic aneurysm (AscAA) growth is a challenge, complicated by the intricate interplay of aortic geometry, tissue behavior, and blood flow dynamics. We investigate a flow-structural growth and remodeling (FSG) model based on the homogenized constrained mixture theory to simulate realistic AscAA growth evolution. Our approach involves initiating a finite element model with an initial elastin insult, driven by the distribution of Time-Averaged Wall Shear Stress (TAWSS) derived from computational fluid dynamics simulations.

Erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP) and X-linked protoporphyria (XLP) are rare genetic disorders. There are limited data regarding how these disorders are managed in real-world settings. The aim of this study was to document the characteristics and treatment patterns among patients diagnosed with EPP or XLP in general real-world settings in the United States.

Insights into proliferative glomerulonephritis with monoclonal immunoglobulin deposits - is it really monoclonal or not?

Purpose Of Review: Proliferative glomerulonephritis with monoclonal immunoglobulin deposits (PGNMID), is a disease defined by the presence of glomerulonephritis with nonorganized mono-isotypic immunoglobulin (Ig) deposits. This review will discuss the pathogenesis of PGNMID and address novel techniques for detection of monoclonal Ig and pathologic B-cell clones and for distinguishing monoclonal from oligoclonal Ig deposits.

Recent Findings: Because of low detection rate of circulating monoclonal Ig and nephritogenic B-cell clones and emerging reports of PGNMID-IgG in children, it has been recently argued that many PGNMID-IgG3 cases may not be monoclonal lesions.

Data from extensive monitoring of agricultural practices, soil health, and wheat grain production in 44 farms in Northwestern France from 2021 to 2023.

This article presents data measured in 44 farms covering a range of cropping practices, soil, and production parameters under contrasted types of crop management: conventional and conservation agriculture. Eighty-six winter wheat fields in Northwestern France were monitored for two growing seasons (2021-2023). The dataset encompasses data about cropping practices (tillage, soil cover, rotation, pesticide use, nutrition), soils (chemical, biological, and physical parameters, including texture), and grain production (nutritional, technological, and sanitary indicators).
