Although survival rates for patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) have improved over recent decades, multiple myeloma (MM) remains without a cure for most. There is increasing consensus that achievement of deep remissions, especially minimal residual disease negativity (MRD -), in frontline treatment is crucial and translates into improved survival. The standard of care (SOC) for NDMM consists at minimum of a triplet regimen of therapies, with or without an autologous stem cell transplant, or a doublet regimen for certain ineligible, particularly frail patients who may have specific limitations.

The binding mean spherical approximation theory is used to describe the thermodynamic properties of dicarboxylic acid salts by adding a chain term in the free energy. The dianions in these solutions are modeled as flexible charged chains composed of two, three, or four spheres. Five aqueous solutions of such salts are studied in different concentration ranges: dipotassium oxalate, disodium malonate, disodium succinate, potassium tartrate, and sodium tartrate.

Cancer and infection diseases pose severe threats to public health worldwide stressing the need for more effective and efficient treatments. Thus, the search for broad-spectrum activity drugs seems justifiable and urgent. Herein, we investigate the anticancer and antitrypanosomatid (anti-Trypanosoma cruzi) activities of eight monoanionic metal bis(dithiolene) complexes, [PhP][M(R-thiazdt)] with M = Au, Pt, Pd, Ni, containing N-alkyl-1,3-thiazoline-2-thione dithiolene ligands (R-thiazdt) with different alkyl groups (R = Et, tBu).

Endometrial disorders, such as infertility and endometriosis, significantly impact reproductive health, thus necessitating better models to study endometrial function. Current in vitro models fail to replicate the complexity of the human endometrium throughout the entire menstrual cycle. This study aimed to assess the physiological response of human endometrial organoids (hEOs) to in vitro hormonal treatments designed to mimic the hormonal fluctuations of the menstrual cycle.

In this neuropathological study, we investigated neuroinflammation surrounding recent and old cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) and cerebral microinfarcts (CMIs) in 18 cases of cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA). We used several serial stainings and immunolabellings to identify microvascular lesions, define their recent or old stage, and characterize neuroinflammatory response (scavenging activity and astrogliosis). We found that both CMBs and CMIs induce a neuroinflammatory response, which was more pronounced in old lesion than recent.

This state-of-the-art review aimed to synthesize evidence from various sex-stratified studies on aortic stenosis (AS), focusing on the difference in clinical presentation, anatomical characteristics, pathophysiology, and management of AS. In comparison to men, women with AS are present at later stages, are older, more symptomatic, frailer, and exhibit higher operative risk [Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) score]. Women tend to have smaller aortic valve (AV) areas and left ventricular (LV) outflow tract, leading to lower stroke volumes (SVs) than men and have a higher prevalence of paradoxical, low-flow, low-gradient AS.

Ubiquitin-specific peptidase 7 (USP7) is a deubiquitinating enzyme that mediates the stability and activity of numerous proteins. At basal expression levels, USP7 stabilizes p53 protein, even in the presence of excess MDM2. However, its overexpression leads to the deubiquitination of MDM2 at a rate faster than p53, leading to p53 degradation and pro-tumorigenic roles.

Here, we report our findings in three unrelated children with a syndromic, early-onset neurodevelopmental disorder, each of whom had a de novo deletion in the locus. The children had severe encephalopathy, shared facial dysmorphisms, cortical atrophy, and cerebral hypomyelination - a phenotype that is distinct from the phenotypes of patients with haploinsufficiency.
