Injury Spectrum and Radiology Department Response Assessment Following the Beirut Blast.

Objectives: The catastrophic Beirut blast on August 4, 2020 at 6:07 pm resulted in extensive damage. Our study aims to categorize the injuries of patients who were transferred to the radiology department in the first 12 hours following the blast and to evaluate the disaster preparedness of the radiology department at Hôtel-Dieu de France Hospital in order to implement corrective action process.

Rhythm Perception in Speakers of Arabic, German and Hebrew.

Rhythm perception in speech and non-speech acoustic stimuli has been shown to be affected by general acoustic biases as well as by phonological properties of the native language of the listener. The present paper extends the cross-linguistic approach in this field by testing the application of the iambic-trochaic law as an assumed general acoustic bias on rhythmic grouping of non-speech stimuli by speakers of three languages: Arabic, Hebrew and German. These languages were chosen due to relevant differences in their phonological properties on the lexical level alongside similarities on the phrasal level.

Structures of Gas-Phase Hydrated Phosphotyrosine Revealed by Soft X-ray Action Spectroscopy.

Gas-phase near-edge X-ray absorption mass spectrometry (NEXAMS) was employed at the carbon and oxygen K-edges to probe the influence of a single water molecule on the protonated phosphotyrosine molecule. The results of the photodissociation experiments revealed that the water molecule forms two bonds, with the phosphate group and another chemical group. By comparing the NEXAMS spectra at the carbon and oxygen K-edges with density functional theory calculations, we attributed the electronic transitions responsible for the observed resonances, especially the transitions due to the presence of the water molecule.

Danger Biomarkers in Perfusates From Fatty Liver Grafts Subjected to Cold Storage Preservation in Different Preservation Solutions.

Static cold storage remains the traditional standard for liver graft preservation prior to transplantation in both clinical and experimental settings. The use of polyethylene glycol 35 solutions, such as Institut Georges Lopez-2 (IGL2) preservation solution, for protecting against mitochondrial damage during cold static preservation necessitates combination with hypothermic oxygenated perfusion to enhance liver graft performance.
