Introduction: Pulmonary airway dystrophy (PAD) is a rare disease that may be either innate or acquired. Very few publications have been dedicated to the repercussions of the air pressure variations that may be encountered during an airplane journey in a pressurized cabin, an aerial tramway ascent or a stay in a high-altitude setting. Variations may also occur during deep-sea diving with modification of absolute air pressure.

Quality control procedures play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and consistency of data generated in mass spectrometry-based proteomics laboratories. However, the lack of standardized quality control practices across laboratories poses challenges for data comparability and reproducibility. In response, we conducted a harmonization study within proteomics laboratories of the Core for Life alliance with the aim of establishing a common quality control framework, which facilitates comprehensive quality assessment and identification of potential sources of performance drift.

Chitosan (CH)-based composite films have attracted increasing attention as promising green food packaging materials due to their biodegradability and ease of fabrication. Additionally, lignin (LN) has been widely used as additive for chitosan-based films to improve their physicochemical properties. In this study, a series of composite films made of chitosan nanoparticles (NCH) as a matrix and alkali lignin nanoparticles (LNPs) as functional filler were prepared.

Sudden deaths in infancy and pesticide exposure: a systematic review.

Sudden unexpected deaths in infancy (SUDI) is defined as the unexpected death of an infant in the first year of life, including explained and unexplained death (SIDS). Risk factors, such as sleeping position and passive smoking, have been identified but few studies have addressed the influence of exposure to chemicals in the environment. Pesticides are ubiquitous but little is known about their impact on infant mortality.

Isolation and characterization of Acinetobacter phage vAbaIN10 active against carbapenem Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB) isolates from healthcare-associated infections in Dakar, Senegal.

Background: Acinetobacter baumannii, particularly carbapenem-resistant strains (CRAB), poses a major concern in the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR), identified as a top-priority pathogen by the World Health Organization (WHO). A. baumannii has intrinsic resistance to several antibiotics, including penicillin, cephalosporins, chloramphenicol, and fosfomycin, but the development of AMR has led to the emergence of extremely drug-resistant and pan-resistant isolates.

Background: A unique form of Hemophilia B (HB) is HB Leyden. We evaluated the International PedNet Registry database to explore the natural history of HB Leyden, investigate genotype-phenotype associations and guide clinical decision-making.

Fungal infection in patients treated with Bruton's Tyrosine Kinase inhibitor, from epidemiology to clinical outcome: A systematic review.

Background: Bruton Tyrosine Kinase inhibitor (BTKi) emerged as key treatment for B-cell lymphomas. Despite its efficacy in the treatment of malignancies, numerous cases of invasive fungal infections (IFI) have been reported in patients receiving ibrutinib, a first generation BTKi. Cases of invasive aspergillosis have also been reported with acalabrutinib and zanubrutinib.

Reliability of an electronic uterine diagram to standardize intrauterine adhesion scoring.

Study Objective: To study the inter-rater reliability of an electronic complementary uterine diagram (eAFS) in comparison to the conventional American Fertility Society intrauterine adhesions (IUA) scoring system (cAFS). Electrochemical optimization of bioelectrochemically improved anaerobic digestion for agricultural digestates' valorisation to biomethane.

Bioelectrochemically improved anaerobic digestion (AD-BES) represents an upgrading strategy for existing biogas plants, consisting of the integration of bioelectrodes within the AD reactor. For this study, a series of laboratory-scale AD-BES reactors were operated, valorising agricultural digestates through the production of biogas. The reactors were inoculated and started-up with three different digestates, leading to significant differences in the microbial community developed on the bioelectrodes.
