Background: Recent years show an exponential increased interest ("renaissance") in the use of psychedelics for the treatment of mental disorders and broader. Some of these treatments, such as psilocybin for depression, are in the process of formal regulation by regulatory bodies in the US (FDA) and Europe (EMA), and as such on the brink of real-world implementation. Background: Patients with obesity are at high-risk of extubation failure. Discrepancies were found in the results of recent randomized controlled trials (RCTs) regarding the roles of noninvasive ventilation (NIV), high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and conventional oxygen therapy (COT) to prevent extubation failure in critically ill patients with obesity.

Methods: In this systematic review and network meta-analysis, we searched MEDLINE, Cochrane Center Register of Controlled Trials and Web of Science from 1 January 1998 to 1 July 2024 for RCTs evaluating noninvasive respiratory support therapies (NIV, HFNC, COT, NIV + HFNC) after extubation in critically ill adults with obesity.

Amphiphilic dynamic covalent polymer vectors of siRNA.

Dynamic covalent polymers (DCPs) recently emerged as smart siRNA delivery vectors, which dynamically self-assemble through siRNA templating and depolymerize in a controlled manner. Herein, we report the dynamic combinatorial screening of cationic and amphiphilic peptide-based monomers. We provide experimental evidence, by mass spectrometry analyses, of the siRNA-templated formation of DCPs, and show that amphiphilic DCPs display superior activity in terms of siRNA complexation and delivery in cells.

Introduction: While various demographic factors and underlying medical conditions are associated with the development of post-COVID conditions within a month after SARS-CoV-2 infection, less is known about factors associated with post-COVID symptoms that persist for 6 months or more. The aim of this review was to determine the association between underlying conditions, other risk factors, health behaviors, and the presence of symptoms ≥6 months after COVID-19.

Methods: Studies reporting on post-COVID symptoms were searched in databases, including Medline, EMBASE, Global Health, PsycInfo, Scopus, CINAHL, Proquest, and WHO COVID-19 literature, from the beginning of the pandemic until November 2022.

Lichen planus (LP) is an autoimmune disease that may affect the oral cavity and the skin, and it has the potential to change to malignancy. In this paper we report a LP case in a 42-year-old male patient in which anxiety and depression were apparently the only possible risk factors of LP. Due to this apparent comorbidity and the risk of not responding well to conventional medication (topical and systemic corticosteroids) or the risk of relapse in the case of ongoing stress, we decided to integrate psychotherapy (without psychotropic drugs) as an adjunct into the management strategy.
