Lithium argyrodites LiPS ( = Cl, Br, I) are a promising class of solid-state electrolytes with the potential to achieve high conductivities (>10 mS·cm) necessary for use in solid-state batteries. Previous research has shown that structural factors, in particular, site disorder between the sulfide and halide anions, can impact the ionic conductivity of lithium argyrodites. One current hypothesis for this correlation between anion site disorder and ionic transport is a connection to the lithium-ion substructure.

The development of targeted therapy for patients with multiple myeloma (MM) is hampered by the low frequency of actionable genetic abnormalities. Gain or amplification of chromosome 1q (1q+) is the most frequent arm-level copy number gain in patients with MM and is associated with higher risk of progression and death despite recent therapeutic advances. Thus, developing targeted therapy for MM patients with 1q+ stands to benefit a large portion of patients in need of more effective management.

The 2022 Mpox virus (MPXV) outbreak revitalized questions about immunity against MPXV and vaccinia-based vaccines (VAC-V), but studies are limited. We analyzed immunity against MPXV in individuals infected with MPXV or vaccinated with the licensed modified vaccinia Ankara (MVA) Bavarian Nordic or an experimental MVA-HIVB vaccine. Natural killer (NK) cells express activating receptors that signal through ITAM (immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif)-bearing adapter proteins. The phosphorylation of each ITAM creates binding sites for SYK and ZAP70 protein tyrosine kinases to propagate downstream signaling including the induction of Ca2+ influx. While all immature and mature human NK cells coexpress SYK and ZAP70, clonally driven memory or adaptive NK cells can methylate SYK genes, and signaling is mediated exclusively using ZAP70.

Here, we investigate the structure of RbMOF (M = Nb, Ta) pyrochlore-type oxyfluorides using a multimodal approach that combines experimental and computational techniques. Rietveld structural refinement of powder X-ray powder diffraction (PXRD) data confirmed that these oxyfluorides are isostructural, and their average crystal structure is disordered.

Bacilladnaviruses are single-stranded DNA viruses that infect diatoms that, so far, have been primarily identified in marine organisms and environments. Using a viral metagenomics approach, we discovered 13 novel bacilladnaviruses originating from samples of mud-flat snail (; =3 genomes) and benthic sediments (=10 genomes) collected from the Avon-Heathcote Estuary in New Zealand. Comparative genomics and phylogenetic analysis of the new bacilladnavirus sequences in the context of the previously classified members of the family helped refine and further expand the taxonomy.
