: Aseptic nonunion of femoral shafts after intramedullary nailing (IMN) can be a challenging condition that may lead to long-term disability and the need for multiple surgical procedures. This study compared the clinical and radiological outcomes between exchange nailing and augmentative plating with bone grafting. : In this multicenter, prospective, single-blind, randomized controlled trial, patients with aseptic nonunion of the femoral shaft after IMN were randomly assigned to receive exchange nailing or augmentative plating.

Objectives: The midline lateral parapatellar (LP) approach has been shown in a cadaveric study to provide superior articular exposure compared to the anterolateral approach (AL). The purpose of this study was to report on outcomes and complications with the LP approach.
Methods: Design: Retrospective comparative cohort study and prospective cohort.
Study Design: Review of cohort studies.
Objective: To ascertain if previous hip (THA) or knee (TKA) arthroplasty was associated with patients' outcomes assessments of subsequent lumbar surgery, specifically overall satisfaction, less disability due to pain, and an affective appraisal reflecting emotional assessment of results.
Background: Hip, knee, and lumbar symptoms often co-exist and increasingly are managed with surgery.

A 30-year-old male sustained a road traffic accident and presented to our trauma centre with injuries to his pelvis and right knee. Radiology showed closed fractures of the right posterior wall and posterior column of the acetabulum and PCL bony avulsion with posteromedial tibial plateau osteochondral fracture, without any distal neurovascular deficit. He was managed with surgical intervention for both injuries.

The database was queried to identify all patients who underwent total hip arthroplasty (THA) or total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with history of hip or knee osteoarthritis and either osteopenia or osteoporosis.

Background: The use of all-suture anchors (ASAs) for onlay patellar and femoral fixation of medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) grafts may provide clinical benefit, particularly in the small or pediatric knee; however, biomechanical data supporting the use of ASAs are lacking.
Purpose/hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to compare ASAs to larger interference implants for MPFL reconstruction in a time-zero biomechanical model. It was hypothesized that ASAs would have comparable cyclic elongation to interference fixation and would exceed published biomechanical values for the native human MPFL.

Purpose: This retrospective single-center study aimed to investigate incidence and risk factors influencing tibial periprosthetic fractures (TPF) in Oxford unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA), with a specific focus on tibial component positioning and sizing.
Methods: A total of 2063 patients with medial UKA using the Oxford® mobile partial knee implant were analyzed between July 2014 and September 2022. Various preoperative and postoperative radiographic parameters determining pre- and postoperative alignment and implant positioning, incidence and characteristics of periprosthetic fractures, and patient demographics were assessed.

Background: Retrograde intramedullary nailing is commonly performed to stabilize distal femoral shaft fractures which may lead to iatrogenic injuries of the knee articular cartilage. The limited regenerative capability of cartilage may further be hindered by intake of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which are usually advised for injuries of the musculoskeletal system. The current study was designed to evaluate the histological changes in the femoral articular cartilage of knee joint after retrograde femoral nailing of rats.

Contraindications: Fracture of the tibial eminence type I, conservatively treatable fracture type II according to Meyers & McKeever and ligamentous rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament.

Previous studies report rare occurrences of tibial baseplate fractures following primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA). However, at a microstructural scale, it remains unclear how fatigue models developed in vitro apply to fractures in vivo. In this study, we asked: (1) do any clinical factors differentiate fracture patients from a broader revision sample; and (2) in vivo, how does microstructure influence fatigue crack propagation? We identified three fractured tibial baseplates from an institutional review board exempt implant retrieval program.
