Background: There is a scarcity of literature concerning individuals who have existing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and their outcomes after primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This study compared outcomes in patients undergoing primary TKA who have a previous history of PTSD.
Methods: An electronic health care database was used to identify patients diagnosed with PTSD undergoing TKA.

Spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee (SONK) was first described by Ahlbäck et al. in 1968. However, subsequent studies revealed that subchondral fractures, rather than necrosis, are the most common histopathological finding in bone samples from patients diagnosed with SONK.

Background And Objective: Post-operative periprosthetic femoral fractures (POPFF) present a growing challenge for healthcare services, but there are limited national data on patient profiles, short-term outcomes, and post-discharge follow-up. We aimed to fill these gaps.
Methods: Using Hospital Episode Statistics (HES), we identified POPFF discharges from hospitals in England for patients aged 18 and above between April 2016 and December 2022.

: Aseptic nonunion of femoral shafts after intramedullary nailing (IMN) can be a challenging condition that may lead to long-term disability and the need for multiple surgical procedures. This study compared the clinical and radiological outcomes between exchange nailing and augmentative plating with bone grafting. : In this multicenter, prospective, single-blind, randomized controlled trial, patients with aseptic nonunion of the femoral shaft after IMN were randomly assigned to receive exchange nailing or augmentative plating.

Objectives: The midline lateral parapatellar (LP) approach has been shown in a cadaveric study to provide superior articular exposure compared to the anterolateral approach (AL). The purpose of this study was to report on outcomes and complications with the LP approach.
Methods: Design: Retrospective comparative cohort study and prospective cohort.
Study Design: Review of cohort studies.
Objective: To ascertain if previous hip (THA) or knee (TKA) arthroplasty was associated with patients' outcomes assessments of subsequent lumbar surgery, specifically overall satisfaction, less disability due to pain, and an affective appraisal reflecting emotional assessment of results.
Background: Hip, knee, and lumbar symptoms often co-exist and increasingly are managed with surgery.

Background: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a crucial orthopaedic procedure used to relieve pain from knee joint degeneration. Concurrently, peripheral artery disease (PAD) presents a major challenge, complicating orthopaedic interventions, particularly TKA, due to its impact on vascular health. Despite advances in surgical techniques and care, patients who have PAD undergoing TKA face heightened risks.

Background Knee arthrodesis was originally developed to manage severe joint infections such as tuberculosis before the advent of antibiotics and joint replacement techniques. The procedure aims to eliminate pain and infection by stabilizing the knee joint through bone fusion. Knee arthrodesis remains essential for cases where total knee arthroplasty is not feasible, such as in patients with severe bone loss, chronic infections, or failed knee replacements.

Background: The current study aims to analyze the effect of pre-operative non-bisphosphonate anti-osteoporotic drugs on complication and revision rates following total joint arthroplasty (TJA).
Methods: A retrospective cohort analysis of the PearlDiver (PearlDiver Technologies, Colorado Springs, CO) database was performed. The database was queried to identify all patients who underwent total hip arthroplasty (THA) or total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with history of hip or knee osteoarthritis and either osteopenia or osteoporosis.

Background: The use of all-suture anchors (ASAs) for onlay patellar and femoral fixation of medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) grafts may provide clinical benefit, particularly in the small or pediatric knee; however, biomechanical data supporting the use of ASAs are lacking.
Purpose/hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to compare ASAs to larger interference implants for MPFL reconstruction in a time-zero biomechanical model. It was hypothesized that ASAs would have comparable cyclic elongation to interference fixation and would exceed published biomechanical values for the native human MPFL.

Background: Retrograde intramedullary nailing is commonly performed to stabilize distal femoral shaft fractures which may lead to iatrogenic injuries of the knee articular cartilage. The limited regenerative capability of cartilage may further be hindered by intake of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which are usually advised for injuries of the musculoskeletal system. The current study was designed to evaluate the histological changes in the femoral articular cartilage of knee joint after retrograde femoral nailing of rats.
