Background: The locus in primarily encodes flagellar (H) antigens. Exploring sequence diversity will shed light on the mechanisms of bacterial pathogenicity. This study examined the presence of mutant strains of in infected patients from different age groups, sexes and sample types in eastern Algerian provinces over a span of 2 years.

Optimal third-order sliding mode controller for dual star induction motor based on grey wolf optimization algorithm.

This paper introduces a novel approach for controlling a dual-star induction motor by combining third-order sliding mode control with the grey wolf optimization algorithm (TOSMC-GWO). The primary objective is to enhance motor performance by minimizing overshoot, rise time, settling time, overall response time, and steady-state error, while simultaneously mitigating unwanted oscillations in stator currents, rotor flux, and electromagnetic torque. Specifically, the proposed controller addresses the limitations of the indirect field-oriented control (IFOC) technique when using a classic sliding mode controller (IFOC-SMC).

A completely green protocol was developed for the synthesis of a series of arylaminonaphthol derivatives in the presence of N-ethylethanolamine (NEEA) as a catalyst under ultrasonic irradiation and solventless conditions. The major assets of this methodology were the use of non-toxic organic medium, available catalyst, mild reaction condition, and good to excellent yield of desired products. All of the synthesized products were screened for their in vitro antioxidant activity using DPPH, ABTS, and Ferric-phenanthroline assays and it was found that most of them are potent antioxidant agents.

Stabilization of Chromium Waste by Solidification into Cement Composites.

Materials (Basel)

September 2023

Department of Materials Engineering and Construction Processes, Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Wybrzeze Wyspianskiego 27, 50-370 Wroclaw, Poland.

This article deals with the study of hazardous chromium leaching, stabilized/solidified by cement CEM II after 28 days of curing, in an acidic environment. The mortars subjected to this study were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) characterization to evaluate the influence of chromium waste on their mineralogical structure. In the study range (0.

Department of Food Technology and Human Nutrition, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Regional Campus of International Excellence "Campus Mare Nostrum", University of Murcia, 30071 Murcia, Spain.

The current study first describes the extraction of phytoantioxidant polyphenols from Carob byproducts (pods) using maceration and heating-assisted extraction as traditional methods and ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE) as an innovative method to determine the most efficient extraction process in terms of four targeted responses: total phenolic content (TPC), antioxidant activities (TAC and DPPH), and photoprotective properties as measured by the sun protection factor (SPF). Second, we used response surface methodology (RSM) with a central composite rotatable design (CCDR) approach to investigate the influence of process variables (extraction time, extraction temperature, and solvent concentration) on UAE, which was found to be the most effective extraction technique in our study. Carob byproduct extracts had a TPC ranging from 6.

Arthropods Biosystematics and Ecology Laboratory, Department of Animal Biology, Frères Mentouri - Constantine 1 University, Constantine, Algeria.

Ticks are haematophagous arthropodsand tick-borne diseases causes billions of dollars in losses in the cattle industry because of the ability of ticks to be vector for many pathogens. This paper identifies and compares the infestation rate (prevalence and intensity) of females of hard tick species compared to males with respect to sex, age and breed of cattle in the region of Jijel, northeastern Algeria. A total of infested 53 cattle were screened and 1214 ticks were collected manually during summer 2019 (June, July and August) and identified based on their morphology.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the purification and biochemical characterization of XYN35, a thermostable xylanase enzyme from a newly identified thermophilic strain, Caldicoprobacter algeriensis, isolated from a hot spring in Algeria.
  • XYN35 demonstrated peak activity after 24 hours at 70 °C, with a maximum enzyme activity of 250 U/mL, and was successfully purified using heat treatment and chromatography techniques.
  • The enzyme operates optimally at pH 11 and 70 °C, is activated by certain metal ions, and shows potential applications in the pulp bleaching industry due to its effective breakdown of xylan into xylose and related products.
