Background: Cervical cancer-related stigma is common but understudied in the Caribbean. This study aims to describe the age difference of cervical cancer stigma and to evaluate the influence on the prevention practices among the Caribbean nonpatient population in Jamaica, Grenada, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Methods: A cross-sectional study involving 1209 participants was conducted using a culturally trans-created Cancer Stigma Scale for the Caribbean context and supplemented with questions on cervical cancer and human papillomavirus (HPV) and HPV vaccine knowledge and beliefs.

BRCA1 plays a suppressive role in breast tumorigenesis. Ubiquitin-dependent degradation is a common mechanism that regulates BRCA1 protein stability, and several ubiquitin ligases involved have been identified. However, the deubiquitinating enzyme for BRCA1 remains less defined.

Challenges in ensuring adherence to colposcopy and follow-up recommendations, particularly within underserved communities, hinder the delivery of appropriate care. Informed by our established evidence-based program, we sought to assess the feasibility and acceptability of a novel cognitive-affective intervention delivered through a Chatbot interface, aimed to enhance colposcopy adherence within an urban inner-city population. We developed the evidence-based intervention, CervixChat, to address comprehension of colposcopy's purpose, human papillomavirus (HPV) understanding, cancer-related fatalistic beliefs, procedural concerns, and disease progression, offered in both English and Spanish.

Purpose: Adjuvant endocrine therapy (AET) is pivotal for hormone receptor-positive breast cancer patients, significantly enhancing survival rates. Yet, adherence to AET remains challenging due to side effects. This study delves into the lived experience of breast cancer survivors concerning AET-induced side effects and examines differences in symptom profiles between Tamoxifen and aromatase inhibitors (AIs).

Bronchopleural fistula (BPF) is a rare but significant cause of morbidity and mortality in cancer patients undergoing surgical lung resection. The mainstay of treatment for BPF is revision of surgical stump. We describe a case of persistent bronchopleural fistula treated with a novel combination of argon plasma coagulation and fibrin glue.

This pilot study tested the feasibility and acceptability of a low-resource-intensive scalable online communication training designed to improve oncologists' skills in prognostic and value-concordant care discussions with advanced cancer patients. The training consisted of on-demand videos on how to convey prognostic information, manage patient emotions, and elicit patient values and incorporate these values into treatment decision making. Post-intervention, oncologists reported on their perceptions of the training.

Background: High-quality, timely goals of care communication (GOCC) may improve patient and caregiver outcomes and promote care that is consistent with patient preferences.
Problem: Cancer patients, and their loved ones, appreciate GOCC; however, oncologists often lack formal communication training, institutional support and structures necessary to promote the delivery, documentation, and longitudinal follow-up of GOCC.
Proposed Solution: The Alliance of Dedicated Cancer Centers (ADCC), representing 10 U.

Objective: Attendance to colposcopy after abnormal cervical cancer screening is essential to cervical cancer prevention. This qualitative study explored patients' understanding of screening results, their experiences of the time leading up to the colposcopy appointment, and colposcopy.
Methods: We recruited women referred for colposcopy from two urban practices in an academic health system.

Multimodal immunosuppression is the backbone of modern solid organ transplantation. However, immunosuppression itself is an independent risk factor for post-transplant malignancy. Although skin malignancy is the most common post-transplant malignancy, genitourinary cancers are also described.

Background: Treatment of metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) is rapidly evolving with new combination therapies demonstrating improved response rates and survival. There are no head-to-head prospective trials comparing an immunotherapy doublet with an immunotherapy/tyrosine-kinase inhibitor-based combination. We compare real-world outcomes in patients treated with axitinib/pembrolizumab (axi/pembro) or ipilimumab/nivolumab (ipi/nivo).

Background: The therapeutic landscape for advanced urothelial carcinoma (mUC) has changed significantly since studies establishing superiority of cisplatin as first-line therapy were conducted. Most patients who are eligible now receive either maintenance or second-line immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) and data comparing first-line platinum chemotherapy agents in this setting is limited.
Patients And Methods: The objective of this study was to determine the impact of first-line platinum chemotherapy agent on survival for patients who receive second-line ICI.

Purpose: Underserved Black and Hispanic/Latinx women show low rates of follow-up care after an abnormal Pap test, despite the fact that cervical cancer is one of the few preventable cancers if detected early. However, extant literature falls short on efficacious interventions to increase follow-up for this population. A concurrent mixed methods study was completed to evaluate the acceptability of a text message-based intervention and identify perceived barriers and facilitators to follow-up after an abnormal Pap test among underserved predominantly Black and Hispanic/Latinx women.

Background: Many prostate cancer (PC) survivors experience disease and treatment-related symptomatology in both the physical and psychosocial domains. Although the benefits and barriers to using web-based resources for cancer patients are well-documented, less research has focused on the personal characteristics important for efficient tailoring and targeting of information that are associated with usage.
Objective: We used the Cognitive-Social Health Information Processing (C-SHIP) framework to guide our exploration of personal characteristics associated with use of PROGRESS, an informational PC survivorship website that addresses physical, emotional, interpersonal, and practical concerns relevant for PC survivors.

Background: Perioperative tamoxifen remains a valuable therapeutic modality for breast cancer patients. Studies in the existing literature have suggested a potential increased risk of thrombotic complications in autologous breast free flap reconstruction patients exposed to tamoxifen perioperatively. However, several recent publications have questioned the validity of these associations.

BRCA1 is frequently down-regulated in breast cancer, the underlying mechanism is unclear. Here we identified DCAF8L1, an X-linked gene product, as a DDB1-Cullin associated Factor (DCAF) for CUL4 E3 ligases to target BRCA1 and BARD1 for proteasomal degradation. Forced expression of DCAF8L1 caused reduction of BRCA1 and BARD1, and impaired DNA damage repair function, conferring increased sensitivity to irradiation and DNA damaging agents, as well as Olaparib, a PARPi anticancer drug; while depletion of DCAF8L1 restored BRCA1 and suppressed the growth of its xenograft tumors.

Paragangliomas are rare neuroendocrine tumors that can vary in size and metabolic activity. We report a case of giant bilateral malignant retroperitoneal paragangliomas (PGL) in a patient with germline succinate dehydrogenase B (SDHB) mutation. This patient, who presented in an emaciated and debilitated state, was managed with adrenergic blockade followed by radical primary surgery.

Introduction: Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths among Black men and women. While colorectal cancer screening (CRCS) reduces mortality, research assessing within race CRCS differences is lacking. This study assessed CRCS prevalence and adherence to national screening recommendations and the association of region of birth with CRCS adherence, within a diverse Black population.

Full-term pregnancy at an early age confers long-term protection against breast cancer. Published data shows a specific transcriptomic profile controlling chromatin remodeling that could play a relevant role in the pregnancy-induced protection. This process of chromatin remodeling, induced by the breast differentiation caused by the first full-term pregnancy, has mainly been measured by the expression level of genes individually considered.
