Objective: The overlap of affective disturbance and psychosis considerably makes it complex to determine the etiology of bipolar disorder (BD) and develop targeted interventions. The present study aimed to determine the white matter microstructural alterations that distinguish between BD with psychosis (BDP) and BD with no psychosis (BDNP) to identify patients who may specifically benefit from appropriately effective treatments.
Methods: Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance images were acquired from 38 participants with BDP, 52 participants with BDNP and 70 healthy controls (HCs).

Background: Medical imaging plays a pivotal role in the real-time monitoring of patients during the diagnostic and therapeutic processes. However, in clinical scenarios, the acquisition of multi-modal imaging protocols is often impeded by a number of factors, including time and economic costs, the cooperation willingness of patients, imaging quality, and even safety concerns.
Purpose: We proposed a learning-based medical image synthesis method to simplify the acquisition of multi-contrast MRI.

To evaluate the clinical efficacy of modified endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) in the management of early gastrointestinal lesions. Upon endoscopic identification of the lesion, normal saline is injected into the submucosa to establish a fluid cushion, which elevates the lesion's mucosa. Methylene blue may also be applied to improve visualization of the relationship between the submucosa and muscular layer.

Electroencephalogram (EEG) brain networks describe the driving and synchronous relationships among multiple brain regions and can be used to identify different emotional states. However, methods for extracting interpretable structural features from brain networks are still lacking. In the current study, a novel deep learning structure comprising both an attention mechanism and a domain adversarial strategy is proposed to extract discriminant and interpretable features from brain networks.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is a highly aggressive malignant brain tumour which presents a significant challenge due to the limited effectiveness of current surgical and chemotherapeutic approaches. In this study, we have developed TMZ16e and gold nanoparticles coencapsulated thermosensitive liposomes modified with anti-EphA3 (anti-EphA3-TMZ16e-GNPs-TSL) delivered via the intranasal route to achieve photothermal chemotherapy (PCT) for improving the therapeutic effects of GBM. The prepared anti-EphA3-TMZ16e-GNPs-TSL were spherical with a particle size of 173.

With the widespread application of pesticides, water pollution problems are becoming more and more serious, which is very likely to cause harm to fish. Lower vertebrates, including fish, have the ability to repair damaged tissues. The spread of pesticides in the water may affect their regeneration process after injury, leading to their death, thereby affecting the survival rate of the population.

In China, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) uptake among men who have sex with men (MSM) and HIV-serodiscordant couples is low. We offered differentiated PrEP options tailored to MSM in a community-based organization (CBO) setting, and to HIV-serodiscordant couples attempting conception in a specialized HIV care clinic. The CBO facilitated PrEP by linkage with a telemedicine platform for virtual consultation; additional online follow-up on social media was conducted by peers.

Background: Evidence has firmly established the association between superior cardiovascular health (CVH) and reduced susceptibility to cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs). In reality, CVH experiences dynamic fluctuations throughout individuals' lifespans. However, the association between changes in CVH and the impact on CMDs among individuals with different genetic risks remains unclear.

Periodontitis is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults. Initially triggered by bacterial infection, it is characterized by subsequent dysregulation of mitochondrial homeostasis, leading to ongoing loss of periodontal tissue. Mitophagic flux, a critical physiological mechanism for maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis, is compromised in periodontitis.

Growth Differentiation Factor-15 (GDF-15) is a pleiotropic cytokine that plays a significant role in metabolism and inflammation. Elevated serum levels of GDF-15 have been associated with mood disorders. We propose that GDF-15 may potentially influence cognitive impairment and metabolism in male patients with chronic schizophrenia (CS), although there is limited research on this topic.

Nanobowls show promising potential in biomedical applications, such as bioimaging, cargo delivery, and disease theranostics, due to their unique concave structure and interior cavities. However, the lack of biodegradable nanobowls with manipulable size (especially the dent size) still exists as an obstacle for their in-depth exploration and application in biomedical fields. Herein, polypeptide-based nanobowls are successfully obtained by the self-assembly of a graft polypeptide [named TPE-P(GAAzo--GA)] via a solvent-switch method.
