Background: Open-door laminoplasty (ODL) and French-door laminoplasty (FDL) are the main laminoplasty techniques used to treat cervical ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (C-OPLL). However, few studies have compared the outcomes of ODL and modified FDL (mFDL) for C-OPLL. We explored the differences in outcomes between ODL and mFDL for C-OPLL and analyzed the technical efficacy of each procedure in patients with K-line (+) or (-) C-OPLL.

Preparation of polycation with hydroxyls for enhanced delivery of miRNA in osteosarcoma therapy.

Biomater Sci

May 2022

Laboratory of Bone Tissue Engineering, Beijing Laboratory of Biomedical Materials, Beijing Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, Beijing, 100035, China.

Osteosarcoma, a malignant bone tumor that usually occurs in children and adolescents, has a high rate of death and disability, bringing great pains to society and families. Improving treatment approaches for osteosarcoma patients remains a constant and major goal for researchers and clinical groups due to the limited therapeutic efficiency and survival rate. MiRNAs have been reported to play a crucial role in osteosarcoma occurrence, progression, and metastasis, which provides a new insight for osteosarcoma therapy.

Background: Hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) is a novel gas transmitter signaling molecule. H₂S is synthesized by cystathionine β-synthase (CBS), cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE), and 3-mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase (MST). There have been no reports about the roles of these enzymes in osteosarcoma and its metastases.

Background: The optimal acute management of patients with blunt straddle injury to the bulbar urethra remains in question. Conventionally, suprapubic diversion with delayed urethroplasty can always be considered, if necessary, but the role of early endoscopic realignment (EER) in the acute management of blunt straddle injuries to bulbar urethra is controversial. We report our clinical experience and outcomes with EER for patients with straddle injury to the bulbar urethra in a level one trauma center.

Future Oncol

January 2022

Department of Respiratory & Critical Care Medicine, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, The Fourth Medical College of Peking University, Beijing 100035, China.

We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the association between soluble PD-L1 (sPD-L1) and survival outcomes and treatment response in lung cancer. Eligible studies were obtained by searching PubMed, EMBASE and Web of Science. Pooled effect estimates were calculated for overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS) and objective response rate (ORR).

Objectives: The measurement of visceral fat (VF) is clinically important for the identification of individuals at high risk of visceral obesity-related health conditions. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a widely available and frequently used body composition assessment method, but there have been few validation studies for the measurement of VF. This validation study investigated agreement between BIA and CT for the assessment of VF in adults.

Whole-exome sequencing in osteosarcoma with distinct prognosis reveals disparate genetic heterogeneity.

Cancer Genet

August 2021

Deptartment of Orthopaedic Oncology Surgery, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, Peking University, Beijing 100035, China. Electronic address:

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the mutational profiles of 33 osteosarcoma patients to identify genetic prognostic biomarkers by using whole exome sequencing (WES).
  • Patients were categorized into two groups based on clinical outcomes: a good prognosis group (21 patients free from tumors) and a poor prognosis group (12 patients with lung metastases).
  • Results indicated that the MAPK signaling pathway may be associated with better prognosis, while the PI3K-Akt pathway could lead to poorer outcomes, along with notable differences in mutation frequencies and potential treatment options available to poor prognosis patients.

Background: BCOR-CCNB3 sarcoma (BCS) is a group of undifferentiated small round cell sarcomas harboring the BCOR gene rearrangement which shares morphology with the Ewing sarcoma family as well as other malignant round blue cell tumors, thus making them difficult to diagnose. The aim of this study was to explore the role of molecular techniques in the diagnosis of BCS.

Methods: Twenty-three cases of EWSR1 rearrangement-negative undifferentiated small round cell sarcomas (Ewing-like sarcoma) were analyzed for the presence of BCOR gene rearrangement by Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and Reverse Transcription -Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR).
