The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating mild and moderate postpartum depression compared to psychotherapy in a real-world setting.
116 patients were divided into an acupuncture group (103) and a non-acupuncture group (13), with treatments over 8 weeks and assessments conducted at various intervals using the Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD).
Results showed that the acupuncture A group (who received 6 or more treatments) had a 100% effective rate, significantly outperforming the non-acupuncture group (76.9%) and acupuncture B group (58.1%).
