Within the intricate fabric of human physiology, cholesterol, a lipid present in cell membranes exerts a discernible effect on the concentration of the drug in human body that influence the aspects of drug pharmacokinetics. The objective of this work is to design a case study based fractional order cholesterol drug interaction model that encapsulates the nuanced dynamics inherent in the multifaceted human physiology with identification of essential variables including drug concentration K and cholesterol level γ. The strength of nonlinear autoregressive with exogenous inputs (NARX) neural networks are exploited to predict the temporal dynamics that reveal the hidden intricacies and subtle patterns within the fractional model.

Multidisciplinary treatment of a patient with TMJ ankylosis and a severe dentofacial discrepancy: A case report.

J Orthod

September 2024

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Foundation University College of Dentistry and Hospital, Foundation University Islamabad, Islamabad, Pakistan.

Introduction: Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis is a debilitating condition characterised by the fusion of bony or fibrous tissues in the TMJ, resulting in restricted mouth opening, functional challenges and facial deformities. This report highlights the complexity and multifaceted nature of TMJ ankylosis and emphasises the significance of early intervention and a multidisciplinary approach. Distraction osteogenesis has emerged as a successful method for managing TMJ ankylosis and associated facial asymmetry.

Article Synopsis
  • Current treatments for diastasis recti focus on core strengthening exercises and supports, but there's little evidence to compare different methods, including those using surface electromyography (SEMG) biofeedback and kinesiotaping.
  • This study evaluated the effectiveness of three interventions on postpartum women, specifically examining core strength, inter-rectus distance, and quality of life.
  • Results indicated that SEMG biofeedback-assisted exercises combined with kinesiotaping led to significantly better outcomes in quality of life aspects and inter-rectus distance, while core strength improvements were similar across all intervention groups.

Introduction: The burden of multimorbidity is recognised increasingly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), creating a strong emphasis on the need for effective evidence-based interventions. Core outcome sets (COS) appropriate for the study of multimorbidity in LMICs do not presently exist. These are required to standardise reporting and contribute to a consistent and cohesive evidence-base to inform policy and practice.
