Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is a common neonatal endocrine disorder that is characterized by irreversible neurodevelopmental and growth retardation due to insufficient biosynthesis of thyroid hormones at birth. Determining the causative genetic variants in infants is important for neonatal management. It was aimed to evaluate the variant frequencies and spectrum of CH in the neonatal population of Foshan, China.

This study report a novel missense variant in the gene identified by targeted gene panel sequencing approach in a Chinese family with achromatopsia. The proband, a 24-year-old female, with normal intelligence, motor development and speech abilities exhibited nystagmus, amblyopia, photophobia, and indistinguishable colors. In addition, the two sisters of the proband had the same clinical symptoms, which means that three patients from a family with a monochromasia clinical diagnosis.

Background: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are known contributors to lifelong mental health challenges. Despite studies linking ACEs to increased risk of adverse postpartum mental health outcomes, a systematic review on the occurrence of postpartum post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in women with ACEs is lacking.
Methods: A systematic search was conducted in seven databases to retrieve studies from inception to January 31, 2024.

Background: Airway mucus hypersecretion (AMH) can occur in children with acute respiratory diseases, but its underlying mechanisms and relationship with the lower respiratory tract microbiota (LRTM) are not yet fully understood. This study investigates the characteristics of LRTM in children with pneumonia (MPP) and its impact on AMH.
Methods: We collected bronchoalveolar lavage fluid and related clinical indicators from 202 children with MPP.

Ovarian endometrioma (OE), also known as "chocolate cysts," is a cystic mass that develops in the ovaries due to endometriosis and is a common gynecological condition characterized by the growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus, leading to symptoms such as dysmenorrhea, pelvic pain, and infertility. However, the precise molecular and cellular mechanisms driving this pathophysiology remain largely unknown, posing challenges for diagnosis and treatment. Here, we employed integrated single-cell transcriptomic profiling of over 52,000 individual cells from endometrial tissues of OE patients and healthy donors and identified twelve major cell populations.

Sialyltransferases are enzymes that play a crucial role in regulating cancer progression by modifying glycoproteins through sialylation. In particular, the ST3 beta-galactoside alpha-2,3-sialyltransferase 4 (ST3GAL4) enzyme is known to be upregulated in breast cancer, but its specific biological functions have not been fully understood. This study aimed to investigate the impact and mechanisms of ST3GAL4 on aerobic glycolysis in breast cancer.

Purpose: The aim was to evaluate the pregnancy outcomes and identify risk factors for recurrent preeclampsia (PE).
Methods: Retrospective analysis of patients discharged with PE between January 1, 2010, and January 1, 2023, from two tertiary referral hospitals. They were classified into recurrent and non-recurrent groups based on the presence of PE in subsequent pregnancies.

Background: Several recent observational studies have reported that iron overload during pregnancy is associated with preeclampsia (PE) and gestational hypertension (GH). However, the causal association between iron status, PE, and GH is still not clear.
Methods: We performed a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study using the genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary statistics of iron status, included serum iron, ferritin, total iron-binding capacity (TIBC), and transferrin saturation (TSAT) from the largest available GWAS meta-analysis, and the summary statistics of PE and GH were obtained from the FinnGen consortium.

Introduction: Although the benefits of doula care during childbirth are well-known, its impact on childbirth-related post-traumatic stress disorder (CB-PTSD) symptoms are less thoroughly characterized. This study aimed to explore the association between doula care and CB-PTSD symptoms and the potential mediating role of childbirth experience on this association.
Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted in a hospital in China, enrolling women with singleton live vaginal births.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristics of abnormal placental shapes (APS) compared with prenatal ultrasound.
Methods: From an initial cohort of 613 women with a high prevalence of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorders, the MRI findings of 27 pregnant women with APS who underwent antenatal ultrasound and MRI examinations before delivery were retrospectively analyzed. The clinicopathological findings were used as the gold standard, and the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of antenatal MRI and a multidisciplinary team experienced in diagnosing APS were assessed.

Motivation: This study aims to investigate non-covalent and non-peptide inhibitors of M, a crucial protein target, by employing a comprehensive approach that integrates molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, and top-hits activity predictions. The focus is on elucidating the non-covalent and non-peptide binding modes of potential inhibitors with M.
Methods: We employed a semi-flexible molecular docking methodology, binding score and ADME screening, which are based on structure, to screen compounds from CMNPD and HERB in silico.

To construct a repetitive implantation failure (RIF)-related competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) regulatory network and validate with clinical samples. RIF-related long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), microRNA (miRNA) and messenger RNA (mRNA) from the high-throughput gene expression omnibus (GEO) database Expression profile data set were obtained to construct a ceRNA regulatory network of lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA. At the same time, weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was used to explore hub genes in the network.
