Introduction: As a result of the growing evidence on tumor radical resection in literature, simple enucleation has become one of the best techniques associated to robotic surgery in the treatment of renal neoplasia, as it guarantees minimal invasiveness and the maximum sparing of renal tissue, facilitating the use of reduced or zero ischemia techniques during resection. The use of a robotic ultrasound probe represents a useful tool to detect and define tumor location, especially in poorly exophytic small renal mass.

Materials And Methods: A total of 22 robotic enucleations were performed on < 3 cm renal neoplasias (PADUA score 18 Pz 6/7 e 4 Pz 8) using a 12-5 MHz robotic ultrasound probe (BK Drop-In 8826).

Recently, the development of endoscopy and interventional radiology has led to a change in the management of colonic diverticular bleeding.

Heterogeneity in ALSFRS-R decline and survival: a population-based study in Italy.

Neurol Sci

December 2015

Neuroepidemiology Unit, IRCCS Istituto delle Scienze Neurologiche di Bologna, Bologna, Italy.

Very few studies examined trend over time of the revised Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Functional Rating Scale (ALSFRS-R) and factors influencing it; previous studies, then, included only patients attending tertiary ALS Centres. We studied ALSFRS-R decline, factors influencing this trend and survival in a population-based setting. From 2009 onwards, a prospective registry records all incident ALS cases among residents in Emilia Romagna (population: 4.

Laparoscopic peritoneal lavage: a definitive treatment for diverticular peritonitis or a "bridge" to elective laparoscopic sigmoidectomy?: a systematic review.

Medicine (Baltimore)

January 2015

Mellini Hospital, Chiari, Italy; University of Notre Dame (DM), Fremantle, Australia; Forlì Hospital (DC), Surgical Oncology, Forlì; Department of General and Oncologic Surgery (CR, MFB), University of Perugia, Perugia; Department of Surgical Sciences (AA), University of Torino, Torino, Italy; First Department of Surgery (AF), Hippokration Hospital, University of Athens, Athens, Greece; and Section for Surgical Research (AF), Department of Surgery, Medical University of Graz, Graz, Austria.

To this day, the treatment of generalized peritonitis secondary to diverticular perforation is still controversial. Recently, in patients with acute sigmoid diverticulitis, laparoscopic lavage and drainage has gained a wide interest as an alternative to resection. Based on this backdrop, we decided to perform a systematic review of the literature to evaluate the safety, feasibility, and efficacy of peritoneal lavage in perforated diverticular disease.

The economic and financial crisis has also had an important impact on the healthcare sector. Available resources have decreased, while at the same time costs as well as demand for healthcare services are on the rise. This coalescing negative impact on availability of healthcare resources is exacerbated even further by a widespread ignorance of management accounting matters.

A study was carried out in 73 male or female patients suffering from mild vascular dementia. The experimental protocol involved an initial run-in period (14 days) and subsequent double-blind, randomized treatment with 300 mg buflomedil or placebo given orally twice daily for 90 days. At the end of this treatment period, all patients received buflomedil for a further 90 days and, thereafter, patients received buflomedil or no further treatment for another 90 days.
