Pectin oligosaccharides with a molecular weight greater than 700 Da was obtained from the pomace of kiwi (Actinidia arguta). Based on characteristics analysis and inhibitory activity of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) formation in vitro, the target pectin oligosaccharides was added to infant formulas and then subjected to accelerated storage. Results showed that pectin oligosaccharides supplementation inhibited the browning of infant formulas and glassy transition of lactose, and slowed down the increase of water activity under accelerated storage conditions.

Key Laboratory of Agricultural Biotechnology of Liaoning Province, College of Biosciences and Biotechnology, Shenyang Agricultural University, Shenyang, 110161, China. Electronic address:

The ICE-CBF-COR pathway plays a vital role in improving the cold tolerance of plants. As an evergreen small shrub, Ammopiptanthus nanus has a high tolerance to cold stress because of its special growth conditions. Regrettably, no cold-responsive genes in the ICE-CBF-COR pathway have been reported in A.

WRKY transcription factors play vital roles in response to biotic and abiotic stresses in plants. As a kind of high value medicinal plant, has an ability to tolerate various abiotic stresses because of the special growth condition. In current study, a novel WRKY gene from is isolated and compared with homologous sequences from other plants.

Department of Food Science, College of Light Industry, Liaoning University, Liaoning Engineering Research Center for Food Bioprocessing, Shenyang Key Laboratory of Food Bioprocessing and Quality Control, Shenyang 110036, China.

Pectin oligosaccharides (POSs) have prebiotic and antiglycation activities in vitro, but the specific structure-activity relationship is unclear. In this study, POSs were obtained by enzymatic and ultrasound-assisted enzymatic degradation of pectin polysaccharide (PPS), respectively. Based on the chemical characterization, the antiglycation in vitro and prebiotic activities of POSs were compared and the structure-activity relationship was studied.

Characterization of polysaccharide fractions from fruit of Actinidia arguta and assessment of their antioxidant and antiglycated activities.

Carbohydr Polym

April 2019

Department of Food Science, College of Light Industry, Liaoning University, Liaoning Engineering Research Center for Food Bioprocessing, Shenyang Key Laboratory of Food Bioprocessing and Quality Control, Shenyang 110036, China.

A novel cell-wall polysaccharides (AAPs) were extracted from the fruits of Actinidia arguta and separated into four parts which were named water-eluted polysaccharide (WPS), salt-eluted polysaccharide (SPS)-1, SPS-2 and SPS-3. The monosaccharide composition and structural analysis showed that SPS-3 and SPS-2 were homogalacturonan (HG)-rich pectin, SPS-1 was rhamnogalacturonan (RG)-rich pectin and WPS was starch-like polysaccharides. All four kinds of polysaccharides displayed the ability to scavenge free radicals, chelate iron ion, inhibit lipid peroxidation and inhibit protein glycation, but SPS was obviously stronger than WPS.

Haw pectin penta-oligogalacturonide (HPPS) has important role in improving cholesterol metabolism and promoting the conversion of cholesterol to bile acids (BA) in mice fed high-cholesterol diet (HCD). However, the mechanism is not clear. This study aims to investigate the effects of HPPS on cholesterol accumulation and the regulation of hepatic BA synthesis and transport in HCD-fed mice.

Haw pectin penta-oligogalacturonide (HPPS), purified from the hydrolysates of haw pectin, has important role in decreasing hepatic cholesterol accumulation and promoting bile acids (BA) excretion in the feces of mice fed a high-cholesterol diet (HCD). However, the mechanism is not clear. This study aims to investigate the effects of HPPS on BA reabsorption in ileum and biosynthesis in liver of mice.

This study aims to compare the effects of feeding haw pectin (HP), haw pectin hydrolyzates (HPH), and haw pectin pentasaccharide (HPPS) on the cholesterol metabolism of hypercholesterolemic hamsters induced by high-cholesterol diets. The animals were fed a standard diet (SD), high-cholesterol diet (HCD), or HCD plus HP, HPH, or HPPS at a dose of 300mg/kg body weight for 4weeks. Results showed that HPPS was more effective than HP and HPH in decreasing the body weight gain (by 38.
