Aim: To assess the utility and efficiency of endoscopy-assisted vitrectomy (EAV) for the treatment of corneal opacity in severe ocular trauma.
Methods: Patients who underwent fundus examination using a preoperative slit lamp and intraoperative endoscopy, followed by EAV and additional surgery were retrospectively recruited. Silicone oil removal and penetrating keratoplasty were used in selected eyes at postoperative follow-ups.

Purpose: This study aimed to determine the rate of retained metallic intraocular foreign bodies (IOFBs) following torsional phacoemulsification cataract surgery by an experienced surgeon and elucidate related surgical factors, particle origin theories from existing literature, and postoperative visual impact.
Methods: An observational study was conducted on 300 consecutive cases of cataract who underwent torsional phacoemulsification by a single surgeon using two-handed stop-and-chop technique. The incidence of retained IOFBs was observed and correlated with the surgical parameters and the density of cataract.

Purpose: The Foldable Capsular Vitreous Bag (FCVB) implant is useful in maintaining ocular structure in cases of chronic hypotony secondary to trauma or repeated surgery. There are few published reports of long-term outcomes and no indication of the chronic cellular changes of the adjacent tissues associated with FCVB implantation. We describe one of few FCVB cases in the UK and present histological findings associated with it following secondary enucleation.

Background: This study aims to describe the epidemiology and clinical features of patients with intraocular foreign bodies (IOFBs) and analyze the prognostic factors influencing final vision.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed medical records of patients with IOFBs admitted to Qingdao Eye Hospital of Shandong First Medical University between January 1, 2014, and December 31, 2021. Inclusion criteria involved complete clinical data details of patients diagnosed with intraocular foreign bodies in our hospital who were treated with concurrent surgery and based on IOFB position and characteristics, different surgical methods were employed.
Purpose: To compare the aberrometric profile of the Artisan Aphakia lens (Opthec BV) and transscleral plug FIL-SSF lens (Soleko) and to assess the impact of tilt and decentration on their optical performance.
Methods: This retrospective observational study was conducted at Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Careggi, Florence, Italy, with a consecutive cohort of aphakic eyes undergoing secondary lens implantation with an Artisan or FIL-SSF lens. Wavefront analysis was performed using a pyramidal wavefront-based aberrometer (Osiris-T; CSO).

Background: This study aimed to report and recall a simple method to remove the lens capsule ab externo when performing intrascleral fixation of an intracapsular intraocular lens (IOL) dislocation with reuse of the IOL.
Case Presentation: A 43-year-old Japanese male patient underwent pars plana vitrectomy, phacoemulsification, and IOL fixation for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment in the right eye 10 years prior. A 3-piece IOL was intraocularly fixed during the initial procedure.

We report the case of a Hispanic male whose conjunctival atypical fibroxanthoma (AFX) grew very large, with intraocular as well as extraocular muscle extensions, and was treated with exenteration. A 50-year-old male presented with a one-month history of foreign-body sensation in his left eye. The initial examination revealed an erythematous, vascularized, pedunculated lesion arising from the left eye conjunctiva.

Purpose: To evaluate a consecutive series of patients that presented with ocular findings after contact with the oak processionary caterpillar (OPC) during an epidemic reproduction of the OPC in Germany in 2019 and to assess the 1-year outcome of those eyes with persisting OPC hairs in the cornea.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of 11 eyes (11 patients) that presented in June/July 2019 with acute ocular symptoms after outdoor activity or caterpillar nest removal. Evaluation of patients charts and slit-lamp images up to one year.

Silicone granulomas, or "siliconomas," are the common foreign-body inflammatory responses to injected silicone material. In rare cases, siliconomas develop remotely from the original site of injection, secondary to silicone migration. If a history of silicone injection is not noted, such lesions risk misdiagnosis (possibly as infection or malignancy).
