The ingestion of food contaminated with citrinin (CIT) poses a variety of health risks to humans and animals. The immunogens (CIT-COOH-BSA, CIT-H-BSA) and detection antigen (CIT-COOH-OVA, CIT-H-OVA) were synthesised using the active ester method (-COOH) and formaldehyde addition method (-H). A hybridoma cell line (3G5) that secretes anti-CIT monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) was screened via CIT-H-BSA immunisation of mice, cell fusion, and ELISA screening technology.

Background: The Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR) networks 'Seq4AMR' and 'B2B2B AMR Dx' were established to promote collaboration between microbial whole genome sequencing (WGS) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) stakeholders. A key topic discussed was the frequent variability in results obtained between different microbial WGS-related AMR gene prediction workflows. Further, comparative benchmarking studies are difficult to perform due to differences in AMR gene prediction accuracy and a lack of agreement in the naming of AMR genes (semantic conformity) for the results obtained.

The sensitive and accurate detection of copper ions is crucial for public health, medical research, and environmental monitoring. In this study, we developed a sensor based on template-assembly activation of the primer exchange reaction (PER) for the on-site detection of copper ions in blood. Copper ions triggered the assembly of two template fragments into a hairpin structure via a click-chemistry reaction, activating the PER.

An innovative core-shell covalent organic framework (COF), FeO@COF (ETTBA-ND), was synthesized through a facile and energy-efficient method. This adsorbent facilitated magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) of six AFs prior to LC-MS/MS analysis, achieving one-step purification and enrichment in food matrices. The successful synthesis of the adsorbent was confirmed using various techniques, with adsorption capacities ranging from 46.

Pomegranate seeds, a by-product of pomegranate processing, are gaining attention in food industries due to their high antioxidant activity. However, the lack of quality markers reflecting activity and spatial characteristics limits their utilization and product stability. In this research, a selective and sensitive method integrating ultra performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry with feature-based molecular networking, and desorption electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry imaging developed to identify components and locate in-situ images of quality markers via spatial metabolomics analysis.

In the field of microfluidics, high-pressure microfluidics technology, which utilizes high driving pressure for microfluidic analysis, is an evolving technology. This technology combines microfluidics and pressurization, where the flow of fluid is controlled by means of high-pressure-driven devices greater than 10 MPa. This paper first reviews the existing high-pressure microfluidics systems and describes their components and applications.

Introduction: This article presents the fourth detection of macroscopic cystic lesions due to sarcocystosis in domestic pigs during routine meat inspection worldwide, and the first molecular detection of in a domestic pig in Poland. Pigs can become intermediate hosts for by accidental ingestion of oocysts or sporocysts present in food or water contaminated by the faeces of canids (definitive hosts).
Material And Methods: The affected swine showed no clinical symptoms such as weight loss, dermatitis or dyspnoea suggesting sarcocystosis.

Background And Objectives: Based on the Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) data from the US FDA, this study mined the adverse drug reactions of obeticholic acid (OCA) in the real world and provided reference for clinical safe drug use.
Methods: Adverse event reports for OCA from the second quarter of 2016 to the third quarter of 2023 were extracted. The analysis for adverse reaction signal detection was conducted using reporting odds ratio, proportional reporting ratio, Bayesian confidence propagation neural network, and multi-item gamma Poisson shrinker methods.

During the past 25 years, vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) has produced multiple outbreaks in the US, resulting in the emergence of different viral lineages. Currently, very little is known about the pathogenesis of many of these lineages, thus limiting our understanding of the potential biological factors favoring each lineage in these outbreaks. In this study, we aimed to determine the potential phenotypic differences between two VSV Indiana (VSIV) serotype epidemic strains using a pig model.

Several protein expression platforms exist for a wide variety of biopharmaceutical needs. A substantial proportion of research and development into protein expression platforms and their optimization since the mid-1900s is a result of the production of viral antigens for use in subunit vaccine research. This review discusses the seven most popular forms of expression systems used in the past decade-bacterial, insect, mammalian, yeast, algal, plant and cell-free systems-in terms of advantages, uses and limitations for viral antigen production in the context of subunit vaccine research.

Soybeans are a widely consumed legume, essential in Western diets and especially prominent in vegan and vegetarian nutrition. However, environmental contamination from anthropogenic sources, such as industrial emissions, wastewater, and pesticide use, has led to the accumulation of non-essential and toxic elements in legumes, potentially impacting human health. This study quantified the levels of 11 potential toxic elements (Al, B, Ba, Cd, Co, Cr, Li, Ni, Pb, Sr, V) in 90 samples of four soybean species (, , , ) using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES).

Soy protein isolate (SPI) possesses potential gelling properties, making it suitable for gel-based applications. However, the gel network stability and mechanical properties of SPI are relatively poor and can be improved through modifications or by combining it with other polymers, such as Konjac Glucomannan (KGM). Combining SPI with KGM can overcome the poor gel network stability and mechanical properties of SPI, but it reduces the water-absorbing capacity of the gel network after drying, which affects the quality characteristics of plant-based protein rehydrated foods and limits the economic feasibility of soy protein foods.

The detection of heavy metal ions, particularly lead (Pb²⁺), in environmental samples is crucial for public health and safety. Current nucleic acid signal amplification methods for Pb²⁺ detection often rely on biological enzymes and are limited in applicability due to high costs, prolonged detection times, and nonspecific adsorption. In this study, we introduce an enzyme-free, DNAzyme-mediated isothermal catalytic hairpin assembly (DMICHA) assay, which combines a DNAzyme-based Pb²⁺ recognition module with a signal amplification process utilizing isothermal catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA).
