Background: Sepsis is organ dysfunction due to the host's deleterious response to infection, and the kidneys are one of the organs damaged in common sepsis. Sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) increases the mortality in patients with sepsis. Although a substantial volume of research has improved the prevention and treatment of the disease, SA-SKI is still a significant clinical concern.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a form of RNAs that lack coding potential. The role of such circRNAs in dental pulp stem cell (DPSC) osteo/odontogenic differentiation remains to be determined. In this study, circRNA expression profiles in DPSC osteo/odontogenic differentiation process were analyzed by RNA-seq.

Background: Numerous dental age estimation methods have been devised and practised for decades. Among these, the London Atlas and Willems methods were two of the most frequently adopted, however dependent on atlantes or tables. A new estimation method less reliant on external measurement could be efficient and economical.

In human immunity, the spleen is a major organ, being central to humoral and cellular immunity. In vitro and in vivo, inflammation is regulated by ubiquitin‑specific protease 8 (USP8); however, to the best of our knowledge, the effect of USP8 on spleen injury remains unknown. The present study aimed to investigate the protection offered by USP8 against spleen injury in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‑induced mice via attenuation of inflammation.

Immunotherapy with checkpoint inhibitors usually has a low response rate in some cutaneous melanoma (CM) cases due to its cold nature. Hence, identification of hot tumors is important to improve the immunotherapeutic efficacy and prognoses of CMs. Fatty acid (FA) metabolism-related genes were extracted from the Gene Set Enrichment Analysis and used in the non-negative matrix factorization (NMF), copy number variation frequency, tumor mutation burden (TMB), and immune-related analyses, such as immunophenoscore (IPS).

Background: At present, the indication for nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM) remains inconclusive, and occult nipple involvement (NI) is one of the most important problems when carrying out NSM. Therefore, we aimed to identify the predictive factors of NI, to provide a tool for selecting suitable candidates for NSM.
Methods: In this retrospective study, a total of 250 breast cancer patients who received mastectomy were recruited, and the association between NI and tumor clinicopathologic characteristics was investigated.

Background: The role of epigenetic modulation in immunity is receiving increased recognition-particularly in the context of RNA N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modifications. Nevertheless, it is still uncertain whether m6A methylation plays a role in the onset and progression of intracranial aneurysms (IAs). This study aimed to establish the function of m6A RNA methylation in IA, as well as its correlation with the immunological microenvironment.

Background: Sepsis-associated encephalopathy (SAE) is characterized by the activation of inflammatory cascades, in which microglia play a key role. The activation of Recombinant Sirtuin 3 (SIRT3) was shown to significantly reduce the susceptibility of microglia to inflammatory stress. The purpose of this study is to determine whether miRNA-494 can regulate the activation and oxidative stress of SAE microglia through SIRT3.

Objective: Preoperative identification of lymphovascular invasion (LVI) in patients with invasive breast cancer is challenging due to absence of reliable biomarkers or tools in clinical settings. We aimed to establish and validate multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based radiomic models to predict the risk of lymphovascular invasion (LVI) in patients with invasive breast cancer.
Methods: This retrospective study included a total of 175 patients with confirmed invasive breast cancer who had known LVI status and preoperative MRI from two tertiary centers.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is a kind of malignant tumor originating from mesenchymal tissue Bone mesenchymal stem cells-derived extracellular vesicles (BMSCs-EVs) can play important roles in OS. This study investigated the mechanism of BMSCs-EVs on OS. BMSC surface antigens and adipogenic and osteogenic differentiation were detected by flow cytometry, and oil red O and alizarin red staining.

Methods: , SD rats were randomly divided into three groups: control group (CON), dexamethasone (DEXM) group, and ZGW group, which were given vehicle, DEXM injection, and ZGW intragastric administration at the same time. Vertebral bone microarchitecture, biomechanics, histomorphology, serum AKP activity, and the autophagosome of osteoblasts were examined.

Background: The sex difference trend of short-term mortality in coronary artery disease (CAD) is narrowing, which has been reported in the previous studies. However, no studies assess the sex difference temporal trends of CAD mortality in China especially long-term mortality trend.
Methods: Based on the registry at Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital which is the largest cardiovascular center in South China, this retrospective cohort study included 24,432 hospitalized patients with CAD confirmed by coronary angiography from January 2007 to December 2014.

Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response caused by a severe infection that leads to multiple organ damage, including acute kidney injury (AKI). In intensive care units (ICU), the morbidity and mortality associated with sepsis-associated AKI (SA-AKI) are gradually increasing due to lack of effective and early detection, as well as proper treatment. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) exert a regulatory function in gene transcription, RNA processing, post-transcriptional translation, and epigenetic regulation of gene expression.

Aims: Available evidence is incomplete and inconsistent in the outcomes of heart failure (HF) patients with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF), and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). There are also limited data on the proportions and long-term prognosis among the three HF phenotypes in China. We aimed to characterize the 5 year prognosis in three HF phenotypes according to EF in a cohort of hospitalized HF patients undergoing coronary angiography in southern China.

Methods: Patients undergoing PCI with baseline left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) ≥ 40% were included from January 2007 to December 2018 (ClinicalTrials.

The variation of virulence genes in the regions of difference (RD) may be the reason for differences in pathogenicity. Studying the relationship between virulence gene mutations in the RD region of clinical strains of and TB relapse can provide basic data for the study of TB prevention and control.

Purpose: Human trophoblast stem cells (hTSCs) are counterparts of the precursor cells of the placenta and are valuable cell models for the study of placental development and the pathogenesis of placental diseases. The aim of this work was to establish a triploid human TSC (hTSC) derived from the tripronuclear embryos, which are clinically discarded but readily available, for potential applications in basic placental research and disease modeling.
Methods: Eighteen tripronuclear human zygotes from IVF were collected and cultured for 5-6 days.
