Objective: Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) exhibits potent proliferative, differentiated, and mineralizing effects, and is believed to be contribute to cartilage mineralization in Osteoarthritis (OA). However, the underlying mechanism of chondrocyte mineralization induced by CTGF remains obscure. As a key regulator of mineral responses, type III phosphate transporter 1 (Pit-1) has been associated with the pathogenesis of articular mineralization.

As an important member of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, the aberrant expression of β-catenin has been implicated in many cancers. Chibby, a β-catenin binding partner, is an antagonist involved in this pathway. In contrast, thyroid cancer 1 (TC1) as an activator of this pathway can relieve the antagonistic activity of Chibby on the β-catenin-mediated transcription and is high expressed in human tumors.

LncFASA promotes cancer ferroptosis via modulating PRDX1 phase separation.

Sci China Life Sci

March 2024

MOE Laboratory of Biosystem Homeostasis and Protection, College of Life Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, 310058, China.

Ferroptosis, a unique type of non-apoptotic cell death resulting from iron-dependent lipid peroxidation, has a potential physiological function in tumor suppression, but its underlying mechanisms have not been fully elucidated. Here, we report that the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) LncFASA increases the susceptibility of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) to ferroptosis. As a tumor suppressor, LncFASA drives the formation of droplets containing peroxiredoxin1 (PRDX1), a member of the peroxidase family, resulting in the accumulation of lipid peroxidation via the SLC7A11-GPX4 axis.

Proliferative glomerulonephritis with monoclonal IgG Lambda deposits caused by plasmablastic lymphoma: a case report.

BMC Nephrol

October 2023

Department of Nephrology, The First Affiliated Hospital of Huzhou Teachers College, the First People's Hospital of Huzhou, Huzhou, 313000, Zhejiang, P.R. China.

Introduction: As a very rare form of B-cell lymphoma, plasmablastic lymphoma (PBL) typically occurs in patients with underlying immunosuppression, including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), organ transplantation, and autoimmune diseases. For HIV-positive patients, PBL normally originates in the gastrointestinal tract, especially from the oral cavity in most cases. It is extremely rare to find abdominal cavity involvement in PBL, and there has been no previously reported instance of proliferative glomerulonephritis with monoclonal immunoglobulin deposits (PGNMID) attributed to monoclonal IgG (MIgG) lambda secreted by PBL.

Department of Endocrinology, First People's Hospital of Huzhou, Huzhou University, Huzhou 313000, Zhejiang Province, China.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the most common retinal vascular diseases and one of the main causes of blindness worldwide. Early detection and treatment can effectively delay vision decline and even blindness in patients with DR. In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) models constructed by machine learning and deep learning (DL) algorithms have been widely used in ophthalmology research, especially in diagnosing and treating ophthalmic diseases, particularly DR.

Introduction: Intelligent recognition of electroencephalogram (EEG) signals can remarkably improve the accuracy of epileptic seizure prediction, which is essential for epileptic diagnosis. Extreme learning machine (ELM) has been applied to EEG signals recognition, however, the artifacts and noises in EEG signals have a serious effect on recognition efficiency. Deep learning is capable of noise resistance, contributing to removing the noise in raw EEG signals.

Center for Drug Safety Evaluation and Research, Zhejiang Province Key Laboratory of Anti-Cancer Drug Research, College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310007, China.

The treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus, which is characterized by defective insulin secretion and/or the inability of tissues to respond to insulin, has been studied for decades. Many studies have focused on the use of incretin-based hypoglycemic agents in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). These drugs are classified as GLP-1 receptor agonists, which mimic the function of GLP-1, and DPP-4 inhibitors, which avoid GLP-1 degradation.
