Acute lung injury (ALI)/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is associated with high morbidity and mortality in the intensive care unit (ICU) and can cause excessive inflammation. Dexmedetomidine (DEX) is a drug that exerts anti-inflammatory effects. Identifying the anti-inflammatory mechanism of DEX in the context of ALI/ARDS possesses potential significance for the prevention and treatment of ARDS.

Background: Some research indicates that unsaturated fatty acids (UFAs) in the diet could enhance reproductive outcomes in infertile women. However, other research holds different views, possibly due to differences in the conversion rates of UFAs from various foods and bioavailability in the body. Therefore, this research examined the link between serum UFAs and infertility issues.

The work aimed to compare the pharmacokinetic (PK) profiles and other outcomes reported in observational studies in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) receiving novel once-daily extended-release tablet tacrolimus (LCPT; LCP-tacrolimus; Envarsus XR) or receiving standard-of-care capsule tacrolimus (PR-Tac; prolonged-release tacrolimus; Advagraf/IR-Tac; immediate-release tacrolimus; Prograf). A systematic review was conducted for all randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and cohort studies investigating the outcomes in KTRs receiving LCPT or PR-Tac/IR-Tac. We systematically searched PubMed, Web of Science, and EMBASE, with no language restriction.

Rolling circle amplification (RCA) is an attractive isothermal nucleic acid amplification approach and has been widely applied in constructing a variety of biosensors. However, the inevitable drawbacks of lacking enough selectivity greatly hindered further applications of RCA-based approaches. Here, we develop a novel RCA-based approach by integrating the specific target recognition capability of the hairpin/DNA ring ternary complex and multiple signal amplification and successfully applied it for let-7a detection.

Background: Central lymph node metastases (CLNM) in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) are common, but management through prophylactic central lymph node dissection (pCLND) remains controversial. In this study, the independent predictors of CLNM in PTMC were retrospectively studied based on ultrasound and pathological data, and we aim to establish the prediction model to predict CLNM in PTMC.

Methods: This study included a total of 1,506 patients who underwent thyroid surgery for PTMC at the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from 2015 to 2018.

The aim of our study was to examine the production of monocyte chemoattractant protein (MCP-4) and eotaxin-3 during the onset and progression of COPD. The expression levels of MCP-4 and eotaxin-3 were evaluated in COPD samples and healthy controls using immunostaining and ELISA. The relationship between the clinic pathological features in the participants and the expression of MCP-4 and eotaxin-3 were evaluated.

Hedgehog interacting protein as a circulating biomarker in women with obesity: a cross-sectional study and intervention studies.

Ann Med

December 2023

The Key Laboratory of Laboratory Medical Diagnostics in the Ministry of Education and Department of Clinical Biochemistry, College of Laboratory Medicine, Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, China.

Background: Although a study found a significant increase in serum hedgehog interacting protein (HHIP) concentrations in impaired fasting blood glucose, impaired glucose tolerance and newly diagnosed T2DM patients, the variation in circulating HHIP levels in obese individuals remains unknown.

Patients And Methods: Gene Set Enrichment Analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment analysis were used for differentially expressed genes and signal pathways. The study is comprised of a total of 452 young women, including 248 obese individuals and 204 controls.

Heterozygous variant in FGFR3 underlying severe phenotypes in the second trimester: a case report.

BMC Med Genomics

April 2023

Department of Ultrasound, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Chongqing, 400010, China.

Background: Achondroplasia is a congenital skeletal system malformation caused by missense variant of FGFR3 gene with an incidence of 1 per 20,000-30,000 newborns, which is an autosomal dominant inheritance disease. Despite similar imaging features, the homozygous achondroplasia is absolutely lethal due to thoracic stenosis, whereas heterozygous achondroplasia does not lead to fetal death.

Case Presentation: A fetus with progressive rhizomelic short limbs and overt narrow chest was detected by prenatal ultrasound in the second trimester.

Introduction: The aim of this work is to examine the efficacy and benefits of ultrasound (US)-guided thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) using paraventricular oblique sagittal (POS) approach for the treatment of herpes zoster related acute pain (ZAP) and its preventive effects on post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN).

Methods: A total of 136 patients suffering from ZAP within 2 weeks of rash onset were randomly allocated to transverse short axial approach (TSA) and paraventricular oblique sagittal (POS) group in 1:1 ratio. All patients received a standard antiviral treatment and rescue analgesics besides TPVB.

Background: With the use of targeted drugs in lung cancer patients, targeted drug-induced interstitial lung disease (ILD) has attracted more and more attention. The incidence, time, and severity of different targeted drug-induced ILD vary. Almonertinib/HS-10296 is a third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI).

The public's safety has been significantly jeopardized by the pandemic of COVID-19, which is brought on by the highly virulent and contagious SARS-CoV-2 virus. Finding novel antiviral drugs is currently of utmost importance for the treatment of patients with COVID-19. Main protease (3CL) of SARS-CoV-2 is involved in replication of virus, so it is considered as a promising target.

Potential of Black Phosphorus in Immune-Based Therapeutic Strategies.

Bioinorg Chem Appl

July 2022

Department of Pharmacy, Sichuan Academy of Medical Sciences & Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, School of Medicine, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu 610072, China.

Black phosphorus (BP) consists of phosphorus atoms, an essential element of bone and nucleic acid, which covalently bonds to three adjacent phosphorus atoms to form a puckered bilayer structure. With its anisotropy, band gap, biodegradability, and biocompatibility properties, BP is considered promising for cancer therapy. For example, BP under irradiation can convert near-infrared (NIR) light into heat and reactive oxygen species (ROS) to damage cancer cells, called photothermal therapy (PTT) and photodynamic therapy (PDT).
